FIFA wanted to gift a World Cup to Saudi Arabia. If CONCACAF host the 2026 World Cup, and UEFA and CAF host the 2030 World Cup with some token matches played in CONMEBOL, only AFC and OFC would be eligible to host the 2034 World Cup. So that means Saudi Arabia only had to compete with an Australia/New Zealand bid.
