The direct free kick is dying in general
There were 1,115 goals in Premier League last season and only 13 of them were free kicks (1.16%)
Season before that was even worse with 11 free kick goals out of a total of 1,246 goals (0.88%)
Many managers tell their players to keep possession or cross instead now since the conversion rate of direct free kicks is so dogshit
It's boring but that's just the reality of modern football, even most elite free kick takers miss 90% of their attempts
