The problem with the guaranteed g5 bids is that 2025 Tulane and JMU were not the Boise St, Utah, TCU, Cincy, UCF, etc g5 teams of years past that would have been at large bids in the current format. The equivalent of those teams would be something like this year’s BYU team which missed the playoffs specifically because the g5 took up 2 spots.
