Last thread, someone asked why the state of Kansas would give such a good deal to the Chiefs. It's because it'll build up a service economy on the Kansas side of the border, which it currently lacks. There's a lot of job growth on the Kansas side right now, but a lot of the discretionary economic activity ends up happening back in Missouri, and the state of Kansas sees none of that tax revenue. The ultimate goal is to make Kansas City a true cross-border city instead of a Missouri city that happens to have a shitty lifeless suburb of the same name just across the border.That said, they gave the Chiefs way too sweet of a deal. They probably would have made the jump for almost the same deal they had in Missouri plus the additional stadium funding.
