Last thread, someone asked why the state of Kansas would give such a good deal to the Chiefs. It's because it'll build up a service economy on the Kansas side of the border, which it currently lacks. There's a lot of job growth on the Kansas side right now, but a lot of the discretionary economic activity ends up happening back in Missouri, and the state of Kansas sees none of that tax revenue.

The ultimate goal is to make Kansas City a true cross-border city instead of a Missouri city that happens to have a shitty lifeless suburb of the same name just across the border.

That said, they gave the Chiefs way too sweet of a deal. They probably would have made the jump for almost the same deal they had in Missouri plus the additional stadium funding.

I assume because it's all they know. I imagine it started off as a result of the limitations on cameras requiring them to pan back and forth in 4:3 as the play happened. Now that everything is in wide screen there really isn't an excuse beyond familiarity. Personally, I hate the Madden franchise and the impact its had on football fandom more than I can articulate. That being said, I think the "Madden" view of the game is actually the infinitely superior way to view and understand what's going on. Even non ball knowers would gain a better understanding of the sport overnight. It'll never happen but I wish THAT was the default tv view but I'd settle for the all 22 as well.
>>152647726
But as anon said, most people don't understand how football actually works nor do they care. The cynical (likely correct) side of me says the way the game is broadcast is still the way it is because it artificially increases "drama".
>see the QB drop back to pass
>his receivers exit stage right
>he maneuvers in the pocket
>we still can't see the deep receivers
>QB winds up to throw, lets it loose
>camera quick pans downfield
>OMG RECEIVER IS OPEN DRAGON!
People would be infinitely less critical of individual players if they could see the whole field every play but that'll never happen. It's a big part of why I like going to my team's games.

I have no comment on Madden the game. I've played it before but I don't care for it. My issue is with Madden players (that never played irl) thinking they understand formations, coverages, and play calling better than boomers who have dedicated their entire lives to this shit. I'm not trying to claim there aren't good and shit coaches, but assuming equal skill at the game itself, the worst NFL coordinators would likely embarrass 99% of Madden armchair snobs.

Respectfully, even as a Yinzer and Steeler fan, Terry was absolutely fucking carried by the fact that the rest of the team were out there just about killing guys for him.

It was always a coin flip's chance the ball would actually make it to the receiver, and he always threw just as many interceptions as he did touchdowns. Which was pretty mediocre even for the time, the man was not that good. If he were on any other team, we'd have forgotten him like most of the other average QBs of the time.

But he was our guy, he made it happen when it counted. He didn't choke when it mattered, most of the time. That's what actually made him different. And that's why he's a legend.

He was what the Steelers needed at the time. A guy who could be carried to victory by our conspicuously roided-out, dirty as fuck defense without fucking it up. That's the truest spirit of American Football, and of all great American sports.
>>
>>152647903

Kansas just bent over and grabbed it's ankles for the Chiefs, if Chicago don't pay up, the Bears are leaving.

NFL seats are too expensive nowadays for regular working class meatbags and the elites don't want to freeze their ass off, it messes up their TicTok vids.
>>
Sorry for the google AI formatting bullshit.

NFL Teams with Stadium Ownership or Exclusive Control:
Miami Dolphins (Hard Rock Stadium): Owned by team owner Stephen Ross with no annual rent.

New England Patriots (Gillette Stadium): Privately funded and owned by the team.

Carolina Panthers (Bank of America Stadium): Owned by the team.

LA Rams (SoFi Stadium): Privately funded by owner Stan Kroenke.

LA Chargers (SoFi Stadium): While technically renting from the Rams for $1/year, they are heavily involved in the stadium's ownership structure.

NY Giants & NY Jets (MetLife Stadium): The stadium is co-owned by a joint venture of both teams, though they lease the land from the state.
In the NFL, most teams (25 out of 32) are technically tenants, renting their stadiums from public entities.

25 teams rent their stadiums for 2+ million a year. That is sad for some reason

He also didnt have 200 hd4k cameras dissecting every play. Fumbles used to be a big deal and so were running backs. Motherfuckers would snap people's fingers and bite in those fumble skirmishes, so many toes out of bounds, ground didnt prop up the bl and keep the WR in possession what?! QBs are babies, but humans are great at taking advantage of their situations. Bradshaw and whoever were catching his throws couldn't get away with what they got away with. It was more brutal sure, but easier to hurry up offense to be in the red zone (which was rb territory all the way)

poor fucker has been thrown into the worst situations possible for his entire pro career
he had two moments: 3rd year as a bear, they finally got him a receiver (DJ Moore's best year as a pro) and made the offensive line power conference college level, and then he broke his thumb midseason - tyson bagent sightings (and the bears hit the draft lottery).
Then over-the-hill russell wilson was hurt and he played decent ball with a steelers team he had built no chemistry with.
Then he had to do a humiliation ritual with a complete ass franchise like the jest.
He deserved a real shot, but never got one.

The OG guy retired because of the wear and tear on his body combined with the fact the NFL was starting to frown on humor such as a "(Terrible) towels carry ebola" sign when the Jags played Pittsburgh during the ebola epidemic. I've spoken to him a few times, really nice guy. The new guy is cool too. He's carried on the tradition of bungee jumping into the stadium for every home game. Every so often they'll point out Jaxson doing the stunt during a prime time or international game but they never mention how he does it every single game and it kind of bugs me lol.

Its the state/county/municipal pensions that are a huge part of the problem, tbf. There is such a huge amount of unfunded liability to the state pension fund that there is literally no money to spend on potential future returns involved with a new stadium deal (they sold the skyway tolls and the parking meters years ago and the budget shortfall only gets bigger). Really not true at all. People overrate Otto so hard, it's ridiculous. He was good at the time but he was not the GOAT of the NFL. Big fish in a tiny, tiny pond. Modern athletes have been through far more rigorous competition and winning in the modern era is way more difficult and impressive than Otto winning in his era.

The league was way smaller back back when Otto played in it and the level of talent was rock bottom. When he was in the AAFC, it only had 8 total teams. Even when the NFL expanded and he joined in 1950, it was only 13 teams. Of which he only played against 7 of them every year. No playoffs like we have today. He really wasn't great in some legendary way. Just a good player during an era of very low standards and competition.

If he were kidnapped and raised today on the same sports training that modern athletes receive, I don't think he'd be physically impressive enough to even be a backup for the Cardinals. The guy knows nothing of advanced modern scheming, never played against any athletes even 1/10th as impressive as the ones that exist today, and he had no X factor that would actually give him a chance against these dudes.

Otto Graham is overrated.

He is overrated in the sense that it's easy to be that dominant when your field of competition is tiny. People often look at how dominant he was but then neglect the context of it.

Let's put it in these terms: Graham appeared in 10 championships and won 7 in 10 years. Brady appeared in 10 championship and won 7 in 22 years. Graham played 71 regular season games and 12 playoff games to gain those accomplishments. Brady played 333 regular season games and 48 playoff games to achieve the same level of championship success. Brady's league had 32 teams consisting of 1696 players taken from hundreds of thousands of candidates in colleges across the US trained at peak physical athlete levels. Otto played in a league with 264-429 players who mostly played the sport as a hobby.

If you have any level of intelligence, you should easily recognize how much more impressive Brady's accomplishments are by insane orders of magnitude in comparison to Otto's.

I told Brady that's what I wanted for Christmas so I could pound both their butts together (this makes him so hard). He came up with the idea of the Bills dildo as his cock but I was like let's do rotating sexy cocks even dragon cock, unicorn cock etc
>>
Will you fucking faggots keep your voices down? Im trying to sleep over here.
>>
>>152648503
He keeps whoopsing. He can't afford the good condoms and can't stand her emotional breakdowns on birth control pills. When she says no Heathrow a football at her head and has amazing deniable plausability. He is always throwing balls (idk if he only has one baby mama desu, maybe he threatens multiple girls with a 25 yrd 1.5 second throw to the face)
>>
So who deserves it? Stafford or Maye? They're almost even in MVP odds. Is it really going to come down to these last two weeks?
>>
>>152648527
>he believes in the pullout method
belief is a powerful thing
>>
>>152648528
Stafford easily. It's shouldn't be close.
>>
>>152648532
*looking at his 9 kids*
My timing has been off. I figured it out, put ne.in coach! I got it this time
>>
>>152648528
If caleb gets 3 tds and 200+ yrds, atleast 1 running td and they win with games, then caleb deserves it. Stafford smafford
>>
>>152648537
I think the main reason Maye is given almost even consideration even though Stafford is statistically superior is that Stafford is on a much better team than Maye is whereas Maye is quite literally willing his team to relevance.

The Rams without Stafford would still be in the playoffs, just not as strong. The Patriots without Maye would be fighting the Jets over a ham sandwich.
>>
>>152648549
3rd+1 PER game. Wins both games*

Yes. He deserves it. 6 4th quarter comebacks. Those damn drives. Means morenthan getting 5 tds 3 weeks nine a row again then titans and Miami early season.
>>
>>152648550
>Maye is whereas Maye is quite literally willing his team to relevance.
this is a meme. They have a good defense, and an ok run game, while playing one of the weakest schedules of all time.
>>
>>152648528
I think Stafford, largely because his a a likely future hof'er with a long, excellent career that was mostly wasted with a bad franchise. He might not have another year like this (or maybe he's brady and has 6 more). So I think he gets it on his overall body of work. Kind of like when they finally gave Scorsese an oscar for the departed, but not aviator, gangs, goodfellas or raging bull.
>>
>>152648528
Stafford wins games that are won, Maye wins games that are lost. Simple as.
>>
>>152648550
You really think rams that good? Nonstafford still playoffs? Who would be their qb? Tou still think they are in the playoffs if they had Cameron ward or baker?
>>
>>152648560
So like giving Leo an Oscar for the Revenant because he didnt get one for all the other stuff he did?
>>
>>152648566
Similar, but Im not convinced that Leo's best work is behind him, whereas Scorsese peaked with Goodfellas, if not before that.
>>
Rams without stafford still being a playoff team is the hottest take ive read in a while
>>
>>152648560
But this is by far Stafford best year. I get what you are saying though. Brady's 2017 MVP was like that, he won it by default
>>
>>152648572
>Leos best work isnt behind him
You either dont know 'ma or you know the script.
>>
>>152648563
uninjured Baker Mayfield, yes. They'd still make the playoffs, but they'd be like 10-6-1
>>
>>152648572
That EMT movie with cage is the best thing he did post goodfellas. It just is
>>
>>152648559
They have literally zero (0) star players on their team. They're going to be the #1 seed with literal bums and average joes at nearly every position outside of QB.
>>
>>152648574
Yeah with an average QB they aren't making the playoffs in that division. I'd think they'd make it in the NFC south though
>>
>>152648581
I don't buy it. They need staffinfection 100% they arent that good.
>>
>>152648582
That movie was grim as fuck, but for me its one of the classic cage performances.
>>
>>152648588
I don't care about there names, they are playing well on both sides of the ball, mainly against shitters. This isn't some all-time carry job lol
>>
>>152648574
If the Rams traded for, let's say, Jared Goff and went back to that, I think they'd almost have the same record, yeah. He's helping that team, but it's also just a really good fucking team.

I don't even think the Patriots have a single player I would consider "good" at any position on the field aside form Maye. The Rams have plenty of stars outside of Stafford.
>>
>>152648596
Going 14-3 with literal who's on your roster is, in fact, an all-time carry job.
>>
>>152648600
If the rams had the pats schedule Stafford would be putting up 2013 peyton manning numbers

Scorsese really showed her knows colors and lighting because of that movie. Bringing out the dead. The whites really popped, the darks were dark as fuck. He showed her still had it as a pure/non mafia filmmaker with it. Great movie
>>
>>152648600
With goff I can see it. But how many times can teams trade back and forth? If they had genocide there is no chance no matter the defense
>>
>>152648603
Maye willed his defense to play well? Are you dumb? Look at 2016 packers, or 2006 colts. Those are carry jobs.

Arguably the greatest Quarterback prospect we've seen since Andrew Luck. I think we can all agree any team would be lucky to have Carson Beck
>>
>>152648608
i remember it as a weird allegory about addiction, every emt was a tweaker and they were haunted by the ghosts of people they didnt save and kept chasing the high of saving a life. it was cage and sizemore and marcellus wallace all being insane

thats about all I remember after 25 years, i might watch that again

>>
>>152648619
It always had John Goodman. But that is a essentially correct description. It is grim, but it flies by, the cinematography and lighting is amazing, nick cage plays someone who doesn't sleep really fucking good. Definitely watch it again.

Is there a single likable player on the Chiefs roster?

This entire calendar year for the Chiefs is like if the Hunt Family sold their souls to the Devil for a football dynasty and this is the year Satan has decided to collect his dues. They're basically losing everything, even Arrowhead.

What's gonna happen next? Maybe Andy Reid will keel over of a heart attack.

Not what I said. You keep trying to twist my words and it's annoying. You're just strawmanning and then calling my strawman stupid.

What star defensive players do the Patriots have?
>>
>>152648633
Chris Jones

But he is def playing for a diff team next year
>>
>>152648640
It's a team sport retard, this isn't the NBA. They are playing well, that's all that matters.
>>
>>152648632
forgot goodman was even in it
in my memory it has a similar energy to requiem for a dream -> very anxious and tense
probably why I havent revisited
still, I remember cage being excellent in it, the best part of it.

Ratings. NFL benefits from marketing it like a boxing match
>>
>>152648653
Yeah, they are playing well. Because they have a star quarterback. You don't go 14-3 even with an easy schedule if your team is bad. The Patriots are, roster wise, a terrible team and have no business being 14-3, but they are. Without Drake Maye, they are guaranteed to have been 6-11 or worse.
>>
>>152648668
>The defense is playing well (against shit teams mainly) because of drake maye
you are a troglodyte
>>
>>152648674
Not what I said. I'm beginning to think you are an actual retard and can't read. It doesn't help your case that the Patriots' defense has actually been rather pedestrian this year.

The Patriots have exactly 1 very valuable player on their team and that is Drake Maye. He is directly responsible for that 14-3 record. That you are too much of a stubborn retard to admit that is not my problem. Yes, the team has a defense. A very average defense. They're not the reason the Patriots are winning games. Drake Maye is.

The defense is above average. Maye is having a very good season but he's playing against actual dogshit teams. Once again this isn't a carry job.

Is it just an impossibility that there can be an unbiased opinion about Sanders on either parties? It’s obnoxious how it’s either you must suck his balls & it’s all stefanski & racism’s fault for his mistakes or that he shouldn’t be in the nfl at all & is black Johnny Manziel
