Most of the cities who have won the Champions League have been either European Capitals (like Madrid, Lisbon, Amsterdam, even Bucharest and Belgrade, and, more recently, London and Paris), the second city of large important countries (Munich, Milan, Barcelona, Rotterdam, even Birmingham counts), or important cities with history and which are still important to Global economy (Glasgow, Turin, Marseille, Dortmund, Manchester, Liverpool, Hamburg). But Porto, despite being the second city of Portugal, does not have the same importance of the other second cities of bigger countries, and it is not economically relevant on the global stage. Sure, it is now a tourist hub, but this is a recent phenomenon. My point is that, before Ryanair came here some 15 years ago, when people first heard of Porto, they would associate it to the club and could not recall anything else. Sure, Porto does have the wine, but I am not sure if it is very known outside the Anglosphere. Eindhoven still has the Phillips company (which also is the genesis of the team) and Turin has other things besides Juventus. Even Nottingham has Robin Hood. What do you think? If not for the Champions Leagues (and even these are not a given of importance in the European/World stage), and the wine, I guess, would you have heard of the town?
Porto is a relatively popular city trip destination for people who think they're very clever for going to the 2nd biggest city instead of the capital
>>152649015>irrelevant
stfu no one cares
>>152649015I dont think I ever gave a shit if the city is "relevant" or not if their team/teams play good football.
>>152649015Hamburg is the second biggest city of Germany tho
>>152649121Ok, sorry. But people outside of Germany think of Munich first when thinking of Germany's second city, because Bavaria is much of his own thing and more different from Prussia than Hambrug/Hanseatic League. But then again Liverpool and Manchester also seem like that towards London than Birmingham.
>>152649015Liverpool
>>152649015Here are the cities to have won the CL that I have never heard anything about except that they have a team that won the CLEindhoven DortmundNottingham ForestPortoDortmund is in a historically significant location. Nottingham is the setting for a famous English storySo its probably not these twoSo the real choices are Eindhoven and Porto. Personally I think its Eindhoven but wouldn't argue if you said Porto
Nottingham will always be the least relevant Champions League city. It's not even one of England's most relevant cities.Dortmund doesn't get the tourist dollars of Munich or even Berlin but it's a huge city with lots of important businesses and historic cultural and political importance. Nottingham is most famous for a bedtime story. It's pretty much only famous for a bedtime story.
Manchester-Liverpool are in a tier of their own on worst cities to win CL
>>152649269What kind of retard doesn't have Porto as a top vacation destination? It's the West Coast of Europe, sun setting over the Pacific, everyone in Europe dreams of Porto
>>152649501They're relevant though. Imagine there's no Beatles
>>152649556I love the Beatles but I'm still not going to pick Liverpool to visit over Porto
>>152649564Still more relevant. Frankly Birmingham is a stupider place to visit than any CL cities. Still important Industrial Revolution City and birthplace of metal
>>152649269Eid'hoven has some historical relevance because Philips is from there and in 1900s it was a big industrial hub for electronics in Europe. Nowadays it's only good for ASML and drugs.
>>152649015Eindhoven definitely is more irrelevant. It was a pretty small and unimportant place with no historical significance whatsoever until the Industrial Revolution took place, and then it all came down to one single company transforming Eindhoven. But it never was a real center of the Netherlands, it‘s still considerably smaller than some other Dutch citiesI would probably also put Porto ahead of Nottingham, perhaps even Glasgow
>>152649532>sun setting over the PacificI dont think you'll see that in Porto
>>152649751Atlantic is the superior ocean anyway
>>152649015>S TierLondon, Paris, Berlin, Madrid>A TierAmsterdam, Lisbon, Hamburg, Milan, Barcelona, Marseille, Birmingham, Munich>B TierBukarest, Belgrade, Turin, Dortmund, Glasgow, Porto>C TierNottingham, Eindhoven
>>152649828Lul, sorry for adding Berlin for whatever reason - as if Hertha or Union could ever win a CL lmaoLiverpool and Manchester are B tier
>>152649020Why isn’t that clever?
>>152649564>Liverpoolsoon will be illegal to enter liverpool as a non-muslim
>>152649015>only big capital and rich cities should have won the CLPeak sovless opinion
