People have forgotten how dirty Stockton played. Nasty as fuck, a demon, had that Chihuahua in him.
The 90s just felt more like an actual game. It was more methodical, half court sets required setup, more thought, skill, it was actually enjoyable to watch a game because it was like seeing people do something. Today all you see is people running up and down, it feels thin, too fluid, nothing to pivot your attention to, no constraints. And it's not the wide open field of soccer and the lines and tactics that allows because the court is too small, and it's not like hockey with it's skates and ice that naturally lends itself to fluidity. It's a fluid sport that shouldn't be. Even the dribble of the basketball is methodical, constrained, a bounce and a stop and change of direction at the hand. Gridiron has full stops, the method, the tactical approach. Today's basketball is just shit that was opened up so soft euros africans and asians could play, because they would otherwise balk and not even bother with the 90s game. Basketball was an American game purely, but because of its lack of equipment and accessibility it was able to be successfully exported unlike gridiron, and that's why it turned into this garbage we see today
