He's also been very patient with all his coaching and front office hires. There are times where that has been frustrating as a fan but when it comes to attracting new candidates that matters. No one wants to coach a team where they feel like they're on the hotseat from day one. Urban was the obvious exception given he went full retard and had a mental breakdown when he realized the games against Citadel and Western Kentucky weren't coming up on the schedule any time soon for the Jags.

There have also been no indications of meddling in personnel decisions. Shahid's been willing to pay top players and invested in the city. I have a positive opinion of him overall.

At any given moment in the NFL there's one black head coach who's actually good at his job. It's like he's sucking up all the power from the other black HCs. Anyway, that's Demeco Ryans right now, or it seems to be. He's probably good enough to win an Owl. I'm worried about Stroud, though.

I kind of want the Niners to win an Owl because Purdy has always had this bonkers feeling of destiny about him and I'd love to see that paid off with a ring. His first start was literally against Tom Brady and he's the first rookie to beat Brady in their first start ever. And ever since he's been on a tear, for the most part. It's like he mystically acquired Brady's powers that day. I love an underdog story and I love a player with a touch of magic, and Purdy has both.

No it doesn't. Offenses can come alive after periods of dormancy. Watch the Steelers-Lions game. A feam can repeatedly fail on offense as long as the defense is dialed in. In a shootout you have to respond because the points stay on the board permanently. There are no do-overs. A defensive showdown can make for exciting moments an exciting game from start to finish requires pressure on the offense to perform

>Analyzing 13,136 defensive penalties from 2015 to 2023, we find that postseason officiating disproportionately favors the Mahomes-era Kansas City Chiefs

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/fire.70020

>Moreover, we find that referees are more likely to call penalties that benefit the Mahomes era Chiefs offense in high-leverage situations. When conditioning on the expected points added (EPA) potential of a play, postseason penalties tend to occur in ways that disproportionately advantage the Chiefs when they are in strong scoring position. Similarly, when conditioning on down to go, referees are more likely to call penalties that favor the Chiefs on third or fourth down, which are situations where penalties can directly extend drives. Importantly, we find no comparable postseason effect for the Brady-era Patriots, the Alex Smith–Andy Reid-era Chiefs, or other recent contenders such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, or San Francisco 49ers

Why do people act like Patrick Mahomes hasn't had it easy the first 6 seasons of his career? Guys consistently got 5+ yards open every play. The epitome of a system qb is a qb that relies on the system to scheme everyone wide open. His 2022 season is often credited as a season where he did not have elite weapons and can have mobility issues yet still put up mvp numbers. Yet, when looking at the tape, you can see that the majority of the passing touchdowns were wide open by 5 or more yards as if it's college ball:

If the 49ers win the owl, I will stop watching the NFL forever. This team should be 8-8 at BEST. The rest of the league getting outcoached, and outplayed, by a bunch of UDFAs and rookies is frankly embarrassing for any other team. They have 6th string receivers making catches on crucial 3rd downs. McCaffery is running on pure Baki instinct mode where he doesn’t even feel injuries anymore with a prayer that a running lane will open up and let him dragon it for 15 yards. And that’s not even going in to how fucking awful their defense is. How does a team have the fewest sacks in the league, with the fewest turn overs take the fight for THE NUMBER ONE play off seed in to the final game of the year? Their NFL is a bad product, and the talent on the field should be embarrassed that this is who is representing them in the play offs.

Jags run schemes are very good but their RB2 is hurt and the O line has been a revolving door so the run blocking has been a little inconsistent. Great at generating pressures but they're bottom third in sacks. I guess the tradeoff has been that the pressures have been leading to turnovers pretty consistently. Trevor is obviously the biggest question mark but I have always seen that 22-23 stretch before he got hurt to be the "real" version of him. Between the injuries and coaching turnover I think this is his first real opportunity to start playing consistent ball again and he's made the best of it so far.

Baalke gets a lot of shit for having assembled 80% of the roster that is currently 12-4. The biggest issue was his inability to match philosophies with Pederson. Who knows who is more at fault there. his biggest issue was giving retarded free agents way too much money for nothing and being a fucking culture cancer that nobody wanted to work with in any capacity, same problem he had in san fran. nobody really had an issue with the picks he was making in the draft. he lasted as long as he did because khan had zero interest in the product's quality until he got embarrassed by the attention he received for retaining baalke

With Tannehill at quarterback. In 2019 they ended Brady's time with the Patriots and beat Lamar Jackson in the playoffs as a wild card team
>>
Vrabel also never really had full control of the roster like he does now with the Patriots

I meant buncos instead of burrs. I get my meme teams mixed up sometimes. This year's yoffs are kinda unpredictable

I remember Mahomes saying in a clip for a some documentary series that playing the Titans is what it was probably like to play the Patriots in the 2000s

1. The first time in nfl history a 7-1 team missed the playoffs
2. The first time in nfl history an 8-2 team missed the playoffs

I found it funny when Tom Brady was clowning on them and leaving them out of his top 10 in power rankings when they were 8-2 and sure enough he was right, kek. Not even a top 15 team this year

Neither of those are true.

>7-1 and missed the playoffs
1987 Chargers were actually 8-1 and missed the playoffs when they finished 8-7.(strike shortened season)

2012 Bears were 7-1 and finished 10-6 and missed the playoffs.

1996 Redskins were 7-1 and finished 9-7 to miss the playoffs

1988 Saints were 7-1 and finished 10-6 to miss the playoffs.

1975 Dolphins were 7-1 and finished 10-4 to miss the playoffs.

>8-2 and missed the playoffs
1993 Dolphins were 9-2 and finished 9-7 to miss the playoffs, to this day the biggest collapse to miss the playoffs.

1995 Raiders were 8-2 and finished 8-8 to miss the playoffs. The funny thing about this one is they even managed to go from 2nd in their division to 5th/last.

I feel bad for mommy Isray :(
>>
>>152721888
Wow he must have won something big in order for there to be an apology form and not just some regular season game. He's definitely not just another average bum QB in a long line of 49ers average bum QBs being hoisted up by Shanny's magic. It's not like he was recently exposed by crying and nearly having a meltdown and having to call a timeout because he couldn't hear daddy Shanny inside his helmet kek.

How incredible is it that Mac Jones, Jimmy G, etc etc all sucked complete ass everywhere else they played but were suddenly good quarterbacks when they put on a 49ers uniform. Crazy, huh? Guess the red and gold just has magic powers.
>>
The Bears are locked into either the No. 2 or No. 3 slot in the NFC playoffs. If they defeat the Lions in the regular-season finale, they'll face the Packers in the wild-card round.

AFC PROJECTED MATCHUPS
Broncos or Patriots get the bye
Chargers will face whoever doesn't get the bye...either the Broncos or the Patriots.
Jaguars are essentially locked in to play the Bills no matter what.
Texans are locked in to play either the Ravens or Steelers.

NFC PROJECTED MATCHUPS
Either the 49ers or the Seahawks get the bye.

Rams are basically assured to face whoever wins the NFCS, the Bucs or the Panthers.

The Packers are either going to face the Bears or Eagles.

49ers fans certainly thought he was. For years. And just like worthless shithead Purdy, he got dragged to an owl to lose. Almost two owls by Shanny.
>>
>>152722050
If I was Mike Vrabel I'd rest my starters this week because I doubt that the Chargers aren't going to do the same since they have nothing significant to play for
>>
The Bears and Eagles are both locked into either the No. 2 or No. 3 slot in the NFC playoffs
>>
>>152722059
That would be dumb. The Patriots are playing for the 1 seed and could get the 3 seed if they lost to the Dolphins by resting. They're definitely not resting. The Chargers might rest Herbert but probably not. Might limit his snaps, but I doubt it.

If the Chargers beat the Broncos in the final week, not only would they cuck and demoralize them out of the 1 seed, but they'd face them again immediately in the playoffs after having already beaten them. Seems like a good incentive to me.
>>
>>152722057
>49ers fans certainly thought he was.
Unfortunately, they did not. I tried my best to troll them into thinking so but I failed
There were a couple dumb Raider fans eating up when they signed him

[JaguarsPR] Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen is the only first-year head coach in NFL history to win 12-plus games after taking over a team with four or fewer wins the season prior.

4 seed: Next Saturday's Panthers-Bucs game will likely be for the NFC South title and the 4 seed, though there's an unlikely scenario where Carolina could win the division despite a loss.
>>
>>152722086
Not him, but when he was healthy he was a solid qb but he could never stay healthy. If I gave him a letter grade he'd get a C+. A serviceable qb who can play well in some games and not typically lose the team a game

He's not even fit to be a starter. He's a backup, which means he's automatically a C-. Not only could he not stay healthy but he was never really any good to begin with.
>>
>>152721644
I believe they replaced about 40 to 60% of the players baalke brought in. While i do think he is an acceptable GM he also made bone headed draft picks and got fleeced in almost every trade. Its okay to move on from "okay"

A team would have to be retarded to trade 3 1st round picks for an overpaid qb like lamar who misses games whenever he wants after seeing what happened to the Vrowns with Deshaun, which really helps the Ravens because those Jets picks will probably be top 5 every year
>>
>>152722195
he's currently on a playoff bound team with a QB who has a high likelihood of injury

Trey Lance is also only 25 years old, plenty of time to turn into a star in this league

Nobody was talking about Jimmy G being good. Trey Lance got some buzz but nobody every talked about Jimmy G being good. The only time Jimmy G was good, when he hit that clutch pass to beat Rodgers in Green Bay in the playoffs, even then nobody was talking about him being good

You are a complete and total utter retard for thinking otherwise, like dumbest person on the entire planet retarded
