Why isn't table tennis a major professional sport? It's in the olympics, lots of people play it casually. Why hasn't a big federation caught on like golf and regular tennis? Even darts gets more attention.

have you watched it? they put all their body weight and muscle into a shot and the ball goes like a meter. it looks goofy.
>>152730845It probably unironically will in the future when there are more good players from Europe and Brazil so its not Chinese A vs Chinese B anymore.I notice France has been shilling these guys a lot. Even Macron himself showed up to congratulate these guys when they won something big. I dunno what he sees in them but he felt the need to personally step out and do it while a lot of other sports never get the same recognition.
>>152730845It's fairly "big" in some European countries, and it is pretty huge in China. I got into contact with quite a few Chinese people as part of my job, and they all ended up asking me about Timo Boll after a few minutesIt can get bigger in some countries like the US, but expecting it to reach China level everywhere is unrealistic. At the end of the day, it still is a rather silly game that will never be more than a niche sport. It does not have the glamour of tennis or golf, and it cannot build the financial momentum to compete with them anytime soon. Players in the leagues of China and Germany are usually professionals already, and top tier players from any country usually make a good living, although they are not stacking cash like footballers
