After taking a break and coming back after years, I’m baffled that there are only a few new superstars and the top 25 is still largely the same guys, now in their 30s (or close to it). Lots of stars from the 2000s are still playing too. I keep hearing about how average players are better and defensive schemes are better but the product on the ice certainly looks similar to what it always did and I think this is just cope from people who want the present to be the best it ever was.
