Fiesta Bowl - Miami v Ole Miss - 1/8
Peach Bowl - Indiana v Oregon - 1/9
Natty 1/19

Transfer portal open, no big lands yet
>>
>CFP Semifinals Set: The matchups are confirmed for the CFP semifinals after the quarterfinal games. No. 6 Ole Miss will face Miami, while No. 1 Indiana will take on Oregon.
>Rose Bowl Shocker: Top-ranked Indiana delivered a dominant 38-3 victory over No. 9 Alabama in the Rose Bowl to advance to the Peach Bowl semifinal.
>Sugar Bowl Thriller: Ole Miss staged an epic comeback, defeating No. 3 Georgia with a late field goal to win 39-34 and secure their spot in the Fiesta Bowl semifinal.
>Coaching Moves: Clemson is reportedly bringing back Chad Morris as offensive coordinator. Meanwhile, some Ole Miss assistants who are leaving for LSU will still coach in the CFP semifinals.
>Transfer Portal Frenzy: The transfer portal officially opened, leading to major news such as former Kentucky QB Cutter Boley committing to Arizona State, North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker committing to Oklahoma State, and Florida QB DJ Lagway considering a transfer to a rival.
>Michigan Hires New Coaching Staff: The Michigan Wolverines, following the departure of head coach Sherrone Moore, have hired Kyle Whittingham as their new head coach. Whittingham has already begun reshaping the staff, bringing in new offensive and defensive coordinators.
>Alabama WR Enters Portal: Star receiver Cole Adams from Alabama has entered the transfer portal, further depleting a receiver room that is already low on numbers for the upcoming 2026 season.
>Penn State Hires Campbell: After James Franklin left for Virginia Tech, Penn State has hired former Iowa State coach Matt Campbell to lead their program.
>Top Transfer QB Visiting Texas Tech: Arizona State quarterback transfer Sam Leavitt, ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the portal by some analysts, is to visit Texas Tech. He has also visited Kentucky.
>UCF Lands Top Recruit: During the Under Armour All-America Game, four-star wide receiver Tyren Hornes announced his commitment to UCF, becoming the highest-rated signee for their 2026 recruiting class.

Barrett's injury was the best thing to happen to Ohio State in 2014. They weren't going to beat Bama with Barrett's noodle arm, they needed Jones's hand cannon.
Will Howard went to Ohio State as a 5th year senior. Sayin is a redshirt freshman.
Also, Sayin was hardly the biggest concern on offense. The offensive line was doodoo dogshit most of the year and it was only because Sayin had such a quick release that Ohio State did as well as they did. Fix the line before throwing stones at the QB.

The only reason the NFL and CFB don't play a game anymore is because the NFL is scared of the Irish.
>>
>>152810781
I'm a casual Irish fan, and I actually agreed with putting Miami over them because head to head HAS to matter, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the SEC did a masterclass job of propping each other up to get 5 schools in, 2 of which clearly did not deserve it (Alabama and Oklahoma). The ACC thing also screwed them because Miami should have just been the ACC champion, leaving only one spot for a G5 school. That's 3 spots that Notre Dame probably should have had.

Sankey told the committee if Alabama was kept out because they lost in the conference championship game, that the SEC would simply quit playing that game and award it based on each teams season record/tie-breakers/etc like they used to. Hate to say it but that's actually a smart move.

You people who think the committee only takes one week or one game at a time into account are so clueless. Just come to me when you’re confused and I’ll set you straight.

The committee painted themselves into a corner with their first rankings, which put Miami 8 places below a team with the same record they beat head to head (note that there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with this, but the committee believes there is). Miami and ND had 0 games that mattered since the first CFP rankings - they both played one ranked team (Pittsburgh) and both won. Ever since the first rankings the committee has been on a mission to awkwardly move Miami past ND, one week at a time. Alabama passing ND was just one element of their plan. But you can’t see the forest for the trees.

Same thing happens with Texas always wanting to out-bid Jawja for recruits. The team that loses on the field will take pride in winning the recruiting battle
>>
>>152813837
Running backs are a diamond dozen. The say we are leading for Isaac Brown who is absolutely the best available IMO. But there are several other guys who would be good.

Christian Clark was serviceable in the bowl game so that’s a nice floor. Simon is still there and I believe he was a top 10 recruit.

>>152812953
He is 100 percent correct. When you watch Indiana play it literally looks like NFL football. The blocking is “clean” in a way that you simply don’t see from college teams.

Indiana is a professional football team playing against college students. This season has proven that college students even superior blue chip athletes cannot compete with professionals. Because professional means sophistication and efficiency and you don’t get dumbass penalties all the time etc.

He is an elite coach (top 5, if not top 3) but Indiana had some experienced holdovers that weren't bad players from Tom Allen's regime.

Is an amazing athlete who should have played defensive end. The only other good “big back” was Adrian Peterson who was also a similarly freakish athlete who would have excelled at other positions too.

List of big running backs who sucked dick just off the top of my head
>eddy lacy
>lindane white
>legarret Blount
>trent richardson
>mike leshoure
>beanie wells
>the list goes on forever

Running backs should not weigh over 220 under any circumstance. It’s just retarded and football coaches have literal 1980s notions in their heads about big running backs that are retarded and almost never play out.

Even in short yardage situations they are inferior to smaller RBs

The RB meta is a 5’10 210 pounder with elite track speed. If I was a GM I would try to recruit as close to that as I can get every single year because you need about 5 of the fuckers to just reload after injuries.

I wonder when/if the NFL is going to get pissed about how wildly unregulated the college product is getting. It's indirectly affecting the quality of drafted players.

I tend to agree that big backs MOSTLY are more situational players but not always. Kinda like how an oversized nose tackle can be a great player but will never be able to affect a game like an elite 3 tech.

Thats not what he has done though. His team would not have an average age of 23 if he was just pulling in kiddos under his wing and teaching them how to be men. He is just recruiting full grown men from the portal and they are playing a more advanced level of football than the teams that are actually training up kiddos.

You’re employing a widespread but stupid rule - that teams who win convincingly can’t have large drops the following week. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

This is cope. If those players were actually pro level they would have left after year 3 when they were eligible. NFL paychecks are greater than all but the highest paid college players. Team that are full of seniors that were not highly recruited are nothing new, it’s just that they virtually never accomplish anything. I tried to think of an exception and went to 2010 Auburn, but their starting roster was not that old and they also had Cam Newton on god mode, and they still didn’t beat the brakes off any good team except South Carolina.

Indiana is different in that not only are they accomplished, but they are clearly the overall best team of the season 14 games in, and probably the best overall team today.

Cignetti is simply the greatest coach of all time.

Yes, the greatest college football coach of all time, and certainly in the conversation for greatest of all time at any level of football. I certainly find him more impressive than Paul Brown or Belichick. Paul Brown was revolutionary in a primitive era of the game. Cignetti is dominant in a highly developed era of the game - but that makes him so much greater. He hasn’t made any innovations, he just made his team good at everything. That has been done before, but only by coaches who had already recruited elite athletes. Cignetti has done it with scrubs.
>>

That’s fine, but the rest of your statement doesn’t sound high IQ, it sounds low IQ in fact. That logic falls apart so fast anyone with a 156 IQ would have been able to pick up on it. By that logic Miami would have to be ranked behind Louisville, who beat them. And Louisville would have to be ranked behind Cal, who would have to be ranked behind San Diego State and so on, with every team needing to be ranked behind almost every other team.

Maybe this isn’t your logic though and you just verbalized it wrong.
>>
>>152816838
I disagree, in that complaining about them using 6th years that are in their mid to late 20s is pointless because it's allowed. I'm saying you have no merit to complain of it being legitimate or not.

And the only part we agree with is that for rules to be changed they have to be presented as being a problem (I don't agree that it's a problem, just the correct actions to take to change it).

I think there is a proper context where its not completely illegitimate but its also stupid to crown cig the GOAT.

I think indiana is much like nebraska. Nebraska was the first team to figure out that steroids and a top tier weight lifting program can make your team champions. Cig (and lane kiffen) were the first guys to realize that they could load up on 23 year old men and kick the shit out of young blue chippers.

They deserve respect for having the correct intuition about best practices and being the smartest guys in the room. But being right about something once does not make you a goat. And old piss and shitdiana will both fall into irrelevance when everyone else catches up to them. (probably next year)

If cig continues to be dominant when everyone is using the portal the way he has then I would feel comfortable talking about his greatness

IU has the largest alumni base in the US, and it tends to be one of the wealthiest. The Kelley School of Business and the Jacobs School of Music are both ranked towards the top globally. Yes, not just nationally, but globally. Besides those two, all of their programs are generally seen as at least average, and most are above-average to great. They do get out-classed in state with Engineering and CompSci by Purdue and with Law by Notre Dame, but otherwise, they are generally seen as the best University in the state and sometimes the entire Midwest for a large number of fields.

Add all that to IU having a few multibillionaire alum, most notably sports-obsessed Cubes, and IU is extremely well-positioned to be successful year after year in the NIL landscape.

no its absolutely not. Those guys are typically great in short yardage. Nobody can get a push because defensive linemen are just superior athletes to offensive linemen. Probably never. Northwestern's alumni base is less than a fourth of IU's, and that's the key. IU has a huge alumni base that is also above average in wealth combined with super-rich sports fan alumni. For that reason, I see Illinois as being the next likely team to start making waves if they get better coaching staff. The Khans make Mark Cuban look like a bum comparatively, and I could see them also using Illinois as an extra layer of scouting for the Jags.

How to fix the CFB playoff

>8 teams, no byes
>ACC, SEC, B1G, and Big 12 championships become pseudo-quarterfinal/first round of the playoffs. Winners go to final four
>Conference championship is played by 2 actual highest ranked teams in their respective conference, so we don't have a gay scenario where 7-5 Duke wins the ACC and memes their way into the playoff over Miami
>G6 conferences have no business being in the playoff under any circumstances

Nobody gives a fuck about non-CFP bowls anymore. They're basically just spring games now. If the playoff field shrunk and we had A&M and Miami playing in a non-CFP Sugar Bowl instead it would have been a half empty stadium and a game full of opt outs. They kind of had to. They didn't have a coach on signing day and a bunch of players left or recommitted to play with Franklin at VT.
>>

Their recruiting class almost entirely jumped to VT, which was expected. But surprisingly, only a few of the Transfer Portal losses went to VT, and overall it's not as much as expected. But yeah, Penn State and Oklahoma State are in clear "Building the team via portal", while The rest can afford to be very picky

Sounds like sour grapes since his team couldn't build a team better than Indiana. Half of those starters were transfers from last offseason, and Cignetti just did a masterful job at picking the right transfers to replace the players from last years team which also had a shit ton of seniors that left for the NFL. IF they do win the natty there's going to be a lot of 4 and 5 star players lining up to play for Cig and the use of transfers will decrease a lot.

>>152815652
>Also, its not the SEC's faults that the B1G is kicking ass in the new meta (it's courts' fault for neutering the NCAA).
The SEC states should be placing all their anger on their GOP SCOTUS for getting gaslit by communist California of all states into thinking that the previous system of college football was somehow socialism. Now the B1G is finally allowed to fight back without their hands and legs tied, and they're the richest conference is college athletics so they can outspend any SEC school if they want to now.
