unironically yes, that's the moment of my childhood fandom i remember the most because it was my first leg break viewing and was somewhat traumatic and the next few months i cried so many times watching at all fall apart
adebayor leaving and then scoring for city was the next one
the cesc saga was bad too
it's so stupid but football when you're a kid really determines a lot about what your brain thinks the world is. i'm always relivng arsenal under wenger in my personal life. quality, entertainment, but ultimately humiliating failure

Kek exactly the same for me, I started supporting Arsenal in 2006 (lmao) and it influenced my personality a lot, I was never the most confident person to begin with but witnessing a team I identified with so much as a kid fail again and again in tragicomedic ways made me 100 times worse as a person, not even joking

Im starting to get really mad seeing Odegaard playing. He clearly is so good but he is now afraid of crossing the ball ???
I am tired of looking like a retard screaming ''SHOOT SHOOT/ CROSS CROSS/PASS PASS'' when he can do any of the 3, but instead just pause, look and pass backwards. Wtf happened to him?
>>
>>152876815
he's probably quite narcissistic as one has to be to be a good striker and also a bit stupid. and yes he never would have worked in our system. so you've got someone incapable of playing the role, too stupid to even sort-of manage, and too stubborn to learn how to master it. and arteta is a family manager. it's like he had an acid trip one day and saw the reality of humans and ego and family and he goes off that we needed to change our system to accommodate him if it were to work but he was a berta ego statement signing so arteta was never gonna do that. and too fucking right, because i am a kai guy, and a kai guy i will always be.
>>
>>152876847

Arteta threw Eze in the bin for not defending the back post if you need a hint

it's so so fucked when you think about it. i'm probs a bit different to you in that i was always a funny and culture-minded lad. i identified so much with arsenal during my teens that as long as i felt like i was doing was true and organic, with the love of life the purpose behind it, acting in ways that god would want to watch for the entertainment value, the end results didn't matter. and now i'm dependant on benzos.
all the best my fellow arse victim

Arne Slot: "I don't know Gabriel Martinelli but he comes across as a nice guy.

"The problem for him, and it's a problem in general in football, is that there is so much time-wasting in the final parts of games that sometimes you can be annoyed when you want to score a goal and you feel a player is pretending to be injured.

"I'm 100 per cent sure if he knew what the injury might be, he wouldn't do that."

Guys why are others clutching their pearls over martinelli? As far as I'm aware, there are a few fake knee grab injuries a match. Then the players get back up and are suddenly healed. Holy fuck, what a waste of literally everyone's time. I knew it would be a frustrating draw but I was expecting a 1-1 or even a 2-2 but fuck me that was so fucking awful.
First half >we at least looked like >we were trying but Arteta needs to be sacked just for his half time talk and tactic change. Stupid fucking piece of shit YET AGAIN wanted to not lose a match instead of fuckiing winning it. >We're never going to win the league with that sort of dog shit mentality. He's done it over and over in the last 3-4 seasons and it's never fucking worked once so why would he keep fucking doing it again and losing points? It's fucking madness. Genuine fucking madness. Did >we have a single shot on target in the second half? Did >we even get within 5 meters of Alisson at any point? Not that >we had such a great time in the first half, mind you. But at least Rice made Alisson sweat for a single shot. Fucking awful mentality. In a fucking home game against a side that's struggling so much.
And of course >we're going to do the EXACT SAME FUCKING THING against Sp*ds and City and United and Chelsea and Newcastle and even against fucking Wolves. Someone needs to violently shake Arteta.

I agree. Defenders are so strong nowadays and with all the tugging and pulling being allowed now makes it so hard to play as a striker. Sometimes I think Gyökeres would be better if he looked like OP's pic because the defenders would have trouble pulling and tugging on that one. Maybe it will also make it easier for our players to find him with a pass or a cross.
>>
Igor Thiago has scored 16 goals. Even Burnley striker... *checks notes*... Zian Flemming is scoring at a better rate than Floperes
>>
I just can't see what we should have done yesterday. Liverpool did really well by swarming the midfield and always being one extra man compared to our players, always having an option to pass the ball. Every time we tried to chase and press they used the space left from the pressing player to get forward and sometimes close enough to shoot or make a through ball for Frimpong. And whenever we actually caught them in our press they kicked the ball away and fell on the nearest leg and got a free kick by the referee.

The solution I saw was to stand off and not get tricked by their taunting in possession. Problem with this was that Liverpool seemed extremely happy to just pass it around for a 0-0 result. I assume this is probably the game where Liverpool had the least amount of player presence inside their opponents box in a long time.

What else could we have done? Move one of our centre backs up into midfield? Put a winger or wingback in midfield?
>>
>>152883649
Let's sign Igor Thiago then (and watch him not score).
>>
>>152883460

to put it in perspective, looking at this list,
there are only 3 players in the entier eleague with double digit goals, and it was only actually 2 until this last group of games

you'r elookin at a situaation where a brace puts him in the top 10 in the epl so
>>
>>152883719
also after man city, all the scoring leaders are from shit teams until you get to ekitke
all respect to brighton, which iss ateam like after readin that article about their office and their phiolosophy and approach, but for our argument they'r eall shit
>>
>>152883701
You just named 3 great strikers yourself, there's also Osimhen and a lot of promising young players ine EPL alone like Woltemade, Thiago, Ekitike, etc
>>
Martinelli #9 is the ticket but very few can see the vision
>>
>>152883731
He has been tried as a striker before and he was awful.

I believe in Gyökeres. We are top of the league and he plays in a team that is dysfunctional when it comes to creating chances.
>>
>>152883220
>Our derbies this season haven't gone well.
I wouldn't say that. >Our biggest derby went swimmingly even. Absolutely battered Sp*ds. Won against Palace Brentford, Fulham, West Ham, and drew with Chelsea. Granted, that Chelsea game is tied first for the worst game of the season but still. And everyone except Fulham and Chelsea were at home I think so there's that as well.
>I think mentally Arteta is scared of losing.
But this I agree with so goddamn much. It's been pretty clear to see ever since >we started competing for the title. Pretty much every single big away game has been Arteta trying not to lose rather than trying to win. And in the last 2 seasons it's even starting to show in home games and not even against big/strong sides but against everyone. Hence why so many people are sick and tired of watching >us score one goal and then just sit back waiting for a heartbreak.
I'm just annoyed because we've seen that this isn't the best way to go about it for multiple seasons now but Arteta seemingly just hasn't learned. Admittedly it did take him like 6 seasons to figure out rotating players so maybe in about 3 years time we'll see some improvement on that front.
>>
>>152883719
you're also looking at a situation where a brace for Gabriel, Zubimendi or Merino puts them level with star striker Viktor Floperes
>>
>>152883804
yeah i mean it can go eithe rway but you know, it' snot like this guy has 0 goals and is an absolute bust

>>152884115
What could Merino have done differently? He is not a better presser than Gyökeres. I don't think the striker was the issue in this game. He was barely involved.

It was a shame Hincapie got injured. We never looked the same after he left. I think this is the third game in a row versus Liverpool were one of our defenders goes out early to injury and it completely changes the game.
>>
>>152883679
The first half was just fine. >We should have just done more of that and kept probing. But Arteta got scared because he's a little fucking bitch and told the squad to hang back and defend. It's not like Liverpool's midfield were all over >us in the first half. The difference between the way >we played in both halves is so fucking evident and it's 10000% down to Arteta. For starters any formation that doesn't have gibraltargaard as the focal point or "creative spark". >>152884083
>>152883972
you're all missing the point

we HAVE the striker we needed.
if you want to turn the entire team upside down and just make everything about feeding him balls to score, you could do that, but then the team would suffer
we have the striker we wanted, this is goykers, he's not scoring 20 goals this year, but he's filling that spot effectively, better than anyone last year when you look at the bigge rpicture
and we already talkedaa bout how odegaard's playstyle is ot hit nigas in stride and goykers isn't necessarily that type of player
if you really want to unlock the goals there u gotta somehow adjust that, either coach him to look for breaks where he gets hit in stride or somehow work wit odegaard to play off him. i think u gotta coach goykers to adjust to odegaard rather than the other way around
