I agree. Defenders are so strong nowadays and with all the tugging and pulling being allowed now makes it so hard to play as a striker. Sometimes I think Gyökeres would be better if he looked like OP's pic because the defenders would have trouble pulling and tugging on that one. I just can't see what we should have done yesterday. Liverpool did really well by swarming the midfield and always being one extra man compared to our players, always having an option to pass the ball. Every time we tried to chase and press they used the space left from the pressing player to get forward and sometimes close enough to shoot or make a through ball for Frimpong. And whenever we actually caught them in our press they kicked the ball away and fell on the nearest leg and got a free kick by the referee.

The solution I saw was to stand off and not get tricked by their taunting in possession. Problem with this was that Liverpool seemed extremely happy to just pass it around for a 0-0 result. I assume this is probably the game where Liverpool had the least amount of player presence inside their opponents box in a long time.

What else could we have done? Move one of our centre backs up into midfield? Put a winger or wingback in midfield?
