Soon you can say your university hosted the World Champions
>>
>>152887600
The DFB usually places a lot of importance on selecting the team headquarters, it has been referred to as a top priority in the media since 1954. That doesn't mean they're always making good choices, but they are said to think about this stuff more than most other teams
Would you describe your facilities as good? What's the campus like? Is it really expensive or okay for American standards?

>Would you describe your facilities as good? What's the campus like? Is it really expensive or okay for American standards?
WF is a private university known for being somewhat exclusive so yes it’s nice compared to other schools and the facilities will be pristine.
>>
>>152889614
football (handegg) has the best facilities at most schools like Wake Forest
will be funny to see those facilities used for anything but niggercollide, at least for a bit

Yeah, it's kind of crazy what your universities have to offer for sports
I just checked and read that Wake Forest has ~9,000 students, but a stadium for 32,000 in a city of 250,000. Not bad at all. If any national team decides it's worth to stay at during the World Cup, it must be great. And while I despise the DFB with all my heart and fear another embarrassment this tournament, I do hold Germany to higher standards than the "average World Cup participant"
The DFB usually prefers relatively secluded camps where you're somewhat protected and in private. I hope it's a nice area that won't give these faggots any chance to make excuses

Maybe this is where I find out that I live in a massive outlier, but that doesn't seem all that outlandish. My city is about 145k and the uni here has a stadium that holds 43k for handegg and 33k for basketball, though it's gotten smaller after recent renovations and has a record attendance above 50k.

I know very little about the proportions of universities, cities, and stadiums in the US, and I'm sure it's not too crazy for American standards, but it is quite remarkable to yuropeons. A fairly small university in a seemingly not very prosperous can entertain a stadium of that size, capable of hosting 3.5x the number of students, and the teams to use it.
My city is of a similar size (it doesn't have bleachers, so it's a bit larger in relation) and the local stadium is similarly large. But it belongs to an actual sports club. The local university has 50,000 students and is pretty prestigious, but it basically doesn't spend any money on sport teams and facilities. There's a gym for all students, the "stadium" is just a pitch with a running track
Not saying spending this much money on sports as a university is good or bad. But it is fairly remarkable to outsiders

The Sounders new 'state-of-the-art' training facility will be Belgium's base camp. Hope the FA will be less strict regarding family visits this time round. Doubt keeping players away from partners +/- their kids is beneficial. If I recall correctly Germany had built a complex for players and their families to stay in Brazil in 2014.
>>
>>152893778
Yes, the Campo Bahia. It’s since regarded as the holy grail when it comes to the combination of training facilities and private areas and whatever else there is to consider
But granted, each title is somewhat mystified in all aspects. The „spirit of Spiez“ is credited with the German team developing the mental strength to defeat Hungary‘s wonderteam in 1954. When pressure was at its highest in 1974 and the first games of the home World Cup hadn‘t gone too well, the team retreated to Malente and turned it around, causing it to become a bit of an idealized place for pilgrimage as well.
1990 is the one I can’t recall everyone talking about the headquarter as a big contributor. If they had won another title, like 2018 for example, some people would surely praise the choice of Watutinki as well

Also, I think there’s a thin line regarding family in the camp. They can be distracting for sure. But if the facility feels like prison, you are obviously in trouble as well
