>NFL expands to adding a European division in the NFC and AFC
>they would play teams within their division twice a, european teams of the other conference once a year, and about half of the rest of their games would be home games
>meaning they would only need to fly to America 2-3 times a year
>winners of each division would be guaranteed a seat in the playoffs, so only 2 wild card spots now in each conference

NFC Europe
>London
>Dublin
>Madrid
>Frankfurt

AFC Europe
>Paris
>Berlin
>Manchester
>Munich

Would this work?

No. Just do one division (2 London, Frankfurt, Munich), and they alternate being AFC and NFC depending on the year.

They would still likely have a lot of trouble getting free agents considering the players would all be American, but it could work.
>>
The NFL is overextended already.
>>
I think the main problem with adding European teams is the player pool. American schools can barely feed 32 teams as is, and you want to add more across an entire ocean? You'd need to add an equivalent to college football, but no shot you'd be able to recreate the NCAA from scratch in a world where NIL/portals would be demanded from day 0 - nay, you have to have something more akin to the MLB minors or all of soccer's lower leagues, meaning it's a money pit and not something profitable in its own.

Also you're known as the CTE sport. In America you've been able to get away with that because of legacy, but in Europe no such legacy exists. You have to persuade prospective athletes to commit to the game over just being passive fans watching American games on the television and participating in some other sport - good luck with that.

god it would be nice if someone managed to come up with innovations for football that kept all of the cool shit like interceptions, insane catches, and meaningful defense without having such high potential for injury

On one hand that would mean diluting TV space by having to share it with 4 more teams.

On the other hand it would create TV slots by having morning games every weekend. They could even play on Saturday as long as it wraps up before Noon.

That's probably the calculation that NFL owners are looking into, NFL is mostly about television revenue. But 8 new teams is way too many, 4 is more realistic.

NFL doesn't need to expand, it just needs to help build up ELF and X-League, and sponsor college/university teams around the world.
>>
>>152899578
No, as the other poster alluded to, you need to convince Europeans to play the sport: give them reasons to play it and quell reasons against playing it (esp. CTE and concerns of 'American cultural imperialism', which is already an issue).

how exactly are they gonna earn the ~$1bn per season to pay NFL-tier salaries for a good roster?
>>
>>152899578
Nigger the visa trouble alone with those (mostly criminal) nighers isn't worth it. Especially if you make both EU and UK teams. And then you'll have to find suckers that want to pay actual income tax instead of Texas 1%.

That costs money, the NFL actually is a very cheap organization and their entire business model involves coming up with a way to monetize everything about themselves

Pic related, you can see the exact moment they began to prioritize profit over the fan experience

you guys don't understand that line/number must go up at any cost

nu-NFL wouldn't even dare to use the XXX numeral

Hopefully not, and I am optimistic it wouldn't
I don't want NFL faggotry here, you and your Jew owners can keep that shit in fatassland where it came from. Enjoy it as you please, but don't bring it over here

Nowhere near enough demand for the sport in Ireland to support an NFL team.

Say's law says offer creates its own demand

I’d rather have a baseball team at Croke Park

I think everyone involved prefers these meme international games.
>Extra timeslot for games in Europe
>Cities get good tourism feature
Selling Munich and ultimately Bayern Munich on "hey we're gonna play 8 games a year here often with a shit team" is a lot harder than just one "we play one game and everyone in Chicago and Tampa is watching at 9 or 10 AM, before the game and at halftime we'll do great features showing players doing a whole Oktoberfest thing and meeting the Assassins of Arsenal themselves.
>1-2 games a year in a city keeps buzz alive while not burdening them with the expectation of normalcy
You can sell a once or twice a year event a lot easier than you can sell a 4-9 London Tubers vs the Raiders on any given Sunday. Not to mention now you're encroaching on Soccer in many of those countries and the last thing the FA and NFL need are a turf war.
>Overextension of league
There's already an emerging talent gap between great players and shit players that's only expanding as football gets less popular with parents. Football is an expanding media enterprise, sure, but youth football has been being replaced by youth soccer in the minds of moms and dads for over a decade now, parents don't want their kids to get janked up in the head as much.

This would not work. Euros are passionate enough to go to 1 game a year watching american teams, they don't care enough to go to 8 home games. This would go bankrupt like every other euro NFL attempt.

2012 really was the end of the world

And they are complaining? Just get on some european plane instead of the slow ass made in USA inferior products.

Flag football.

>In February 2025, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the NFL was considering launching professional flag football leagues, while a source with knowledge of the league stated to ProFootballTalk that Goodell's statement was an "understatement" and that work on the proposed league is "very much underway"
