So that the threshold of efficiency is lowered, because otherwise, youre going to need 3 people to score 20 on like fewer shots. If 6 players only need 5 shots, to score 10 points, then its obviously easier to expect someone to go 5/5, or even 3/5 (but all of them are 3s) than for someone to go 10 for 10, or even 8/10.I say all this, without even factoring in HOW a player gets a shot. The 3 point shot has extra high variance, even a good shooter can go 1 for 7, which means you need to guarantee open shots for the best chance at making a shot, because its the lowest percentage and therefore hardest shot in the game on average. But then theres play finishers, who can only basically shoot at the rim, which is probably the hardest but highest value place on the court to get to.This is where my "5/5" guy comes in handy, its easier to expect a play finisher to get and make 5 shots than 10.See how easily basketball can get complicated?

The less shots you need to score, the more shots your more dependent teammates can have to score. Because what if you reach your 30, but by that time? Its 4 minutes into the 4th, and you dont have time to get all your teammates to score because you took 30 shots and now they need to make every shot else you lose?
