So...now that the dust has finally settled, can we all agree that this new league phase on the chmpions league with 8 games is a far superior format to the groups with 4 teams?
the new league format is objectively horrendous. no match matters and we’ll just end up with the same 16 teams in the ro16 as every seasoncl footy has never felt this irrelevant before

For me personally I don't care or watch anything anymore and I have only a very vague sense of the standings and what they mean.

The difference now is that the big teams are incentivised to try harder in the league/group stage because they want to avoid the additional play-off fixtures in February. Plus you don't have 3rd place in the group being rewarded with a Europa League trophy.
I think it's fine. Personally I no longer watch live matches but that's not due to the new format. Overal the last few CL campaigns have not been significantly worse than the old format so it's hard to say the changes are bad
