>The massive point deductions across nine Chinese Super League (CSL) teams for the 2026 season stem from a major anti-corruption crackdown by the Chinese Football Association (CFA), announced on January 29, 2026. This is part of an ongoing "anti-gambling, anti-black" (反赌扫黑) campaign targeting match-fixing, gambling, bribery, and other "improper transactions" in Chinese football.

>The penalties were handed down after investigations (including police-led probes spanning years, like 2012–2021 cases involving numerous matches and clubs) revealed involvement in these corrupt activities. The CFA described the sanctions as based on "the amount, circumstances, nature, and social impact of the improper transactions" each club was linked to. This ties into a broader sweep under Xi Jinping's anti-corruption efforts in sports, which has already jailed high-profile figures like former CFA president Chen Xuyuan (life sentence) and ex-national team coach Li Tie (20 years), and banned 73 people for life from football.

>In total, 13 clubs (9 in the CSL, plus some in lower divisions) faced punishments, including points deductions and fines (ranging from 200,000 to 1 million yuan). The nine CSL teams you listed start the 2026 season in the negative due to these deductions:

>Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger: -10 points (plus 1 million yuan fines each) — harshest penalties

>Qingdao Hainiu: -7 points (plus an 800,000 yuan fine, noted for "serious breach causing adverse social impact").

>Henan and Shandong Taishan: -6 points each.
Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Port, Wuhan Three Towns, and Zhejiang FC: -5 points each.

>Wikipedia's phrasing ("violation of sports ethics... improper transactions to seek illegitimate benefits") is the official CFA boilerplate for these corruption-related infractions, without naming specifics like match-fixing outright in every case—but media coverage consistently links it to match-fixing, gambling, and bribery scandals.

Qian Jiegei Alisangte Endubu[1] (Chinese: 钱杰给·阿里桑特·恩杜布; pinyin: Qián Jiégěi Ālǐsāngtè Ēndùbù; né Alexander N'Doumbou; born 4 January 1992) is a Gabonese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Chinese Super League club Zhejiang FC. He formerly represented the Gabon national football team before giving up his Gabonese citizenship to receive the Chinese passport in 2019.[2]

N'Doumbou was born in Port-Gentil to a Gabonese father and a Chinese Hakka mother. His parents met in China where his father was attending school.[13]

The only difference is that China actually punishes teams for doing corrupt things, meanwhile in England they simply get swept under the rug most of the time. You can't tell me that Shanghai Shenhua did anything more corrupt than City or PSG.

Went to Qingdao Hainiu's last match of the 2024 season. They started the match in the relegation places. They needed a win, but a draw could keep them up if other results went their way. They won 1-0 thanks to a dodgy penalty and then about 70 minutes of shameless semen slurping. Their opponents were Cangzhou*, who were guaranteed safety. They didn't try. I support Qingdao West Coast out of spite. Refused to even buy one of their highly flammable scarves to commemorate the occasion. The stadium was barely even in fucking Qingdao, security rummaged through everything before going in, and they wouldn't even risk us throwing plastic bottles at the corrupt shitters; they poured plastic cups of water on the concourse for 10x the price of a bottle. Disgusting. I spit on them. -7 points is not enough.

*Cangzhou Mighty Shitters later filled the 2nd relegation spot due to "dissolution of the football club"

City and PSG don't fix matches or influence the top brass FA. They're saints compared to Chinese clubs. They also aren't the majority of clubs meaning the system as a whole is clean, meanwhile the entire Chinese league get point deductions and top execs are punished indicating systemic problems.

Points deductions feel a bit meaningless when half of the other teams in the table also got docked and there's only two relegation spots anyway.

>On 26 November 2022, Li was placed under investigation for "serious violations of laws" by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), the party's internal disciplinary body, and the National Supervisory Commission, the highest anti-corruption agency of China.[22][23] He was put on trial for "accepting and offering bribes" while manager of the Chinese national team and for being involved in match-fixing while manager of Hebei China Fortune and Wuhan Zall.[24] He confessed,[24] and on 13 December 2024 was sentenced to 20 years in prison.[1] On 29 January 2026, he was given a lifetime ban for match-fixing by the Chinese Football Association.[25]
