for real now, why don't we have two stationary drones hovering on each side of the field to give a clear bird's eye view of the pitch? that would fix the offside problem, no wonky perspectives, no computer simulation.
>>
why not a series of laser guns which fire across the pitch and the rule is just if the attacker is breaking the farthest laser up the pitch then he's offside. then you have a few inches between lasers as the gap. cheaper than paying £300,000 a year for VAR which is what scottish teams are billed for VAR by the SFA.

that would give players cancer, specially if it's pointing at their balls

>dude technology lmao
fuck off

the contrary, I'm proposing to use LESS technology.
The semi automated offside that we see today on FIFA matches and the EPL is a bunch of iPhones feeding 200 fps video to an AI.

>drones
Just use a rail cam (like they do for the Olympic sprints) that'd follow the ball/action - or better yet, a spider cam slung from above.
That being said, the VAR assistant referees should not have the computerized lines and whatnot ""detecting"" 1mm off-sides as it's against the Spirit of the Game™. Naked (via a camera feed) eye only. Can't see it like that? PLAY ON!
>>
football was a lot better when linesmen were just eyeballing it
>>
you could use AI and convert the line on the pitch to a rope. then the AI video plays through by pulling the rope under the players and then seeing which player falls to the ground first using AI physics. eventually you wouldn't even need the rope, you could literally ask the players who is furthest forward utilising AI, hearing their response in the video generated

why on earth would they make it harder to rig? You forget what sport and what agencies you are dealing with.
>>
Why not just make offsides legal?
>>
>>153210872
no man that shit was retarded af.

what we need is MORE technology and technology breaks so the broadcast can use it to inform us about the latest products.
>>
How about a moving bottomless hole that manoeuvres between the position of the last defender and the goalkeeper (who will still require land to stand on) so its physically impossible for an attacker to drift off into an offside position?

Drones are slow to react to human erratic movements.
>>
>>153211707
they don't need to move at all, they just need to maintain position in air, i.e. hovering
>>
>>153209635
Why don’t they also add explosive payloads to the drones and kill the player if they’re offside
>>

this reminds me if someone but i can't remember whom
>>
>>153209635
the offside problem has already been fixed
you scored while offside? goal canceled
the real issue is the handball debate

And diving, and timewasting, and... Quality of refs is abysmal, always has been. Only weirdos dream of becoming a ref. Who would want r/mods having any say in a game. Simply get rid of. Players make the calls themselves and if any disagreement then kick the shit out of each other. Refereeing should be the same from highest to lowest level after all.

Because there is no net benefit in solving these things. Football is a spectacle that makes money off the emotions of the customers. Much like the WWE. It also has the fans most similar to the WWE in terms of IQ. I say that as a football fan.
>>
>>153209635
They already have devices strapped to the players or hidden in their boots to collect data so just add a signal that goes beep beep boop when a player is ahead of the defenders and examine the readout when it goes to VAR
>>
>>153209635
Why not GPS tracking chips in the shoes and balls so that everyone knows where everyone's feet and the ball is relative to each other.
>>
>>153215160
Handball is pretty obscure outside of the Netherlands.
>>
>>153222689
Because an offside isn't just measured by foot position but the position of any body part that you can score with
>>
>>153209635
we should just have one camera every 1 meter on the side of the pitch, all controlled by black dwarfs
>>

why black
