for real now, why don't we have two stationary drones hovering on each side of the field to give a clear bird's eye view of the pitch? that would fix the offside problem, no wonky perspectives, no computer simulation.
why not a series of laser guns which fire across the pitch and the rule is just if the attacker is breaking the farthest laser up the pitch then he's offside. then you have a few inches between lasers as the gap. cheaper than paying £300,000 a year for VAR which is what scottish teams are billed for VAR by the SFA.

you could use AI and convert the line on the pitch to a rope. then the AI video plays through by pulling the rope under the players and then seeing which player falls to the ground first using AI physics. eventually you wouldn't even need the rope, you could literally ask the players who is furthest forward utilising AI, hearing their response in the video generated
