Not a single player who made it through Wednesday's Preliminary Rounds got to the Last 16. Zonneveld and Razma were the only ones to win more than a single set. A regression from last year but Matchroom will love that.
So just the two upsets tonight, but it was in the opener that saw the best display of the first round as Luke Woodhouse dropped a single leg in a 3-0 demolition of Martin Schindler. Woody averaged a personal TV best of 108.64 with 55% on the doubles to advance. The other defeat of a seed saw Rob Cross beat Ryan Searle in a match that had Heavy Metal start poorly and only got going once he was 0-2. The only other story of note was a below-par Luke Littler surviving a match winning 142 attempt from Mike De Decker and subsequently winning the deciding set to nil. He also missed D15 for a 9 darter.The last 16 is tomorrow with the matches now the first to 4.
