Now that UCI points actually matter for relegation purposes they should change the scoring system. Points should be weighted based on the quality of the startlist. None of this bullshit points hoarding for beating up on part time librarians and chimney sweepers.

that's why (on the road and at high speed) I always lead with my knee, face and upper body, to keep the bike more upright. I lean as much of my body weight into the corner and let my legs steer the bike into the direction I'm going with my upper body. Literally just look and lunge as deep as you can into the corner and the bike just follows. Feels a lot smoother, faster and safer once it clicks.

Like with Riis and Indurain, if someone cracks Pogacar it will be because of a Pogacar decline, not because someone actually reaches his current 2024/2025 level
>>
>>153326962
>if someone cracks Pogacar it will be because of a Pogacar decline
or because the others wise up and start working together. Keep in mind that Evenepoel and Skelmose already cracked him in Amstel Gold Race last year.
>>
>>153326962
my money is 100% on Evenepoel being hungry as fuck and Pogacar losing a little motivation after winning everything. He's literally already had to dye his hair blonde to spice up his life at this point.... doesn't bode well for Pog. I honestly think Evenepoel only needed to improve his endurance a little more to bridge enough of a gap to get on Pog's level. He also needs to use his head more. Pog may be physically superior but he's also very smart and calm on the bike.

I think endurance and recovery are equally -if not more- important. You need to make sure that you are at your absolute best at those critical mountain stages when everyone else is already dead.
>>153327523
>>153327562
let's see how the season goes. Remco is a close second after Pog. If he fixes his endurance and makes more rational decisions while on the bike and maybe with some teamwork with the other top riders, they can crack Pog. I have faith. I have to believe this, otherwise I might as well stop watching.

Anyway, don't you want to see Pog suffer and crack? I mean, when it happens, every cycling fan will rejoice. There will be a new kid on the block and the viewing numbers will go through the roof when the newspapers read

>>

>So what's the plan? Control the weather so that Remco wins the Tour thanks to a HAARP heatwave?
no lol; optimize his endurance and recovery
His endurance has been shyte for the past 2 years because the retard always got himself seriously injured. Kek willing he stays on the bike this year and manages to build a solid foundation for TdF. It's all what ifs... but calling Pogs win at this point is boring as fuck.
>>
>>153327834
When the time comes for Pogacar too, and he will start to lose, he will lose to runners who will never reach his peak. It will be tragedy, an all time great taken from us by the inherent march of time, only to be replaced by several others.
Is the era of Evans Cadel-level runners winning the Tour really something too look forward to? Of 5 different runners winning the Monuments, all of which end in a bunch sprint?

Offensive & daring racing.
When someone is overly dominant it always get boring, but we forget that cycling is just dominance chained together with a few transition years.
There's always hyperfanboys that will cheer for the winning guy and there's people who always cheer for the underdog (and pick a new underdog if their underdog gets too good).
The latter will never be happy.

Also, anything better than the boring sky or us postal era's.
>>

That would be a sound argument if he ever was on Pogacar's climbing level but was inconsistent. But Remco has never ever been on Pogacar's climbing level

true; last year has been entertaining but also pretty boring near the peak of the season.
>Also, anything better than the boring sky or us postal era's.
last year I literally went on rides during the most important mountain stages because it was so boring to watch
>>
>>153328161
Last year's mountain stages in The Tour were predictable only in that Vingegaard gained no time on Pogacar on them. Who won them, how much attacking happened was different.
>>
>>153328156
>But Remco has never ever been on Pogacar's climbing level
how much W/kg do you reckon Remco did during the World Championship TT when he overtook Pog? Surely he had to be pushing more than Pog; it wasn't just aerodynamics.
The big difference is that pog can do 7w/kg after a 4 hour day of riding, 2 weeks into TdF. The new kids call it durability. Well, Remco being a hot head with a short fuse never had the patience to build an unshakeable foundation like pog. Remco has more power than when they're both fresh. But if they both have 4 hours of racing in the legs, Pog can do more power than Remco. That's the key point imho.
>>
>>153328251
Pogacar is just shit in one day TTs. In the first week Tour TTs he barely loses any time to Remco even though this is supposed to be Remco's strong point, fresh with no fatigue. In the Peyragudes TT Pog also destroyed everybody else.
Fatigue doesn't play a huge role anymore they all have good nutrition plans. In peak shape Pogacar's FTP in w/kg is just higher than Remco's that's why Remco can't win

Remco's endurance/recovery is/was nowhere near Pog's. And wasn't Remco's rib still broken at that time?
>Fatigue doesn't play a huge role anymore they all have good nutrition plans
bro, it's central nervous system fatigue ain't no food gonna fix that shit. Even Pog himself said he started to hate his life in week 3.
>In peak shape Pogacar's FTP in w/kg is just higher than Remco's that's why Remco can't win
when they're both fatigued yes. When completely fresh, Remco obliterates him. Even Pog himself acknowledges this.

give the guy a break. He was wrecked and had only been training seriously for a few months

>>
>>153327104
>Keep in mind that Evenepoel and Skelmose already cracked him in Amstel Gold Race last year.
Nah, he cracked himself by going solo very early, and even then they barely caught up with him and Skjelly barely won the sprint. In a stage race, that'd be a GC nothingburger. Remember Le Lioran '24?
Anyways, the decisive TdF stages are the high mountains with long and steep climbs, where working together doesn't avail you much. And he has a very strong team and, if last year is any indication, is racing smarter now. Good luck isolating him or luring him into shooting his own foot with a retarded attack.

1. send Lipowitz ahead with 80km to go

2. UAE has to burn Yates, Almeida, ... immediately to keep the gap under two minutes.

3. By the time the race hits the final 15km of the last climb, Pog is isolated. He’s forced to do the work himself to close the gap while Remco and Roglic sit in his slipstream.

Either he'll let Lipo take GC points or he brings Remco and Roglic to the top with him.

>Remco WILL follow
not sure if he will follow, but he'll be able to follow for longer, that's for sure. But I think it's important RBH doesn't touch the wind, ever and force UAE to defend and attack. If Pog attacks, then Remco has to be in his wheel. To give Remco/Lipo the best chance, you have to find a way to fatigue Pog more than your own GC riders. The best way to do that is to be lazy as fuck until Pog attacks. If he attacks on a mountain you try to follow him, hoping that he's already more fatigued from being in the front; on the flats and/or far out (if he's actually that stupid) you can let him ride and then slowly bring him back with the entire RBH team. Conserve energy and force him to do the work if he wants to win and sit in his draft.
If Remco is somehow more fresh than Pog at the start of a climb, I think Remco can follow.

UAE wouldn't let Lipowitz ride away like that. Even if they did,
>By the time the race hits the final 15km of the last climb
they would have caught him again. Even if they didn't, Lipowitz wouldn't be far away and completely dead. Remember stage 18 last year?
>while Remco and Roglic sit in his slipstream
You say that like Pog wouldn't just drop them. Even if he didn't, could they do more than wheelsucking him and snatching a few seconds on the line? Remember stage 19 last year? Pog paced the entire climb, with Vingegaard wheelsucking, but what did Vingegaard gain in the end? 2 seconds from bonus seconds.
Btw. Roglic isn't riding TdF.

Heemskerk's way of phrasing his grievances sound remarkably close to how Cian Uijtdebroeks described the team. I imagine Armstrong will be painted as a compelling anti-hero. Talented under-age athlete, even a world champion, but then has a teammate die in the Tour, and is diagnosed with cancer. He has a Walter-White-like turn, and then just becomes the worst/best in a sport full of cheats. And then we're left with an outro where he's exiled from the sport as cycling attempts to whitewash itself and he's an easy scapegoat, as the only doper suffered that punishment.

>Outside, a storm is raging. A freezing blizzard has paralyzed the Spanish ski resort, located at an altitude of over 2,300 meters, and made the roads almost impassable. Warm—or at least dry—in the facilities of the Spanish Higher Sports Council's high-performance center, Paul Seixas has to make do with a session on his indoor trainer.
>"It's been two months since I saw my parents or my girlfriend. Every second day, I have no choice but to train indoors. It’s tough, and it doesn’t really feel like real cycling. But I know why I do it. These are the sacrifices I have to make."

>Dylan Van Baarle: “I lost faith in Visma’s training methods. I like to make a clear plan, but in the way that I think is right, not in the way that others think is right for me. I like being more in control, and they let me do that more here. It's all a bit freer there in Soudal than I was used to in Visma. I have a little more of my own input, so to speak.”
>Cian Uijtdebroeks: “At Visma, the focus was on short, explosive training sessions, so a lot of VO2 max work. I’d personally prefer longer blocks at tempo, but there was no room for that. I asked to do longer blocks, but that was difficult within their system. You didn’t have much say. That was difficult for me.”
>“I also really wanted to improve my time trial, but after Tirreno, I hadn’t been on my time trial bike again, if you’re a GC rider, that just can’t happen. I’ve already lost three minutes to Remco in a TT, but now it shouldn’t be more than one minute. I have a new bike position and personalised handlebars. I finally feel comfortable in training.”
>“Since Merijn Zeeman left, it has become even more disciplined. For certain riders that works, but for a rider like me it doesn’t. I really want to be able to help decide my own training.”
>“Then also my saddle was moved back five centimetres, but I’m not the kind of rider who, like Victor Campenaerts, adopts a very aero road bike position. If I want to release my power without certain nerves getting inflamed, the saddle has to be moved forward. Tiesj Benoot experienced that too.”

50 or 60mm deep rims?
which ones to get and why??
was thinking 60 in the front and 50 in the back. Or 50 in the front and 45 in the back?
Where I live is lots of flats, moderately windy, lots of short climbs and descends. I wanna go fast. Pls halp
>>
>>153402550
>was thinking 60 in the front and 50 in the back. Or 50 in the front and 45 in the back?
shouldn't it be the other way around? the con of deep rims is that they are less stable in cross winds and you want more control over your front wheel. back wheel is less critical, that's why in TT you usually see full disk rear wheel. also, whatever you chose in the end, avoid hookless rims of death
>>
>>153402591
apparently aerodynamics matters more at the front wheel. The reasoning for a shallower rear wheel is to reduce weight and increase acceleration. But no one is really doing it because it looks stupid
>>
>>153402550
I wouldn't go over 50 if you ride with winds.
I had 60 and sold it, not worth sone ofnthe scares I had.
now i have a 50 and a 38mm one.
If i had to chose just one i would go 38 for sure, much more versatile

doesn't contradict the point. wobbling of front wheel during side wind gusts is a make it or break it in choosing right rim depth. unless you like chuting.

People always think they're special. They feel offended because somebody doesn't give them their "deserved" attention. They don't realize that "just 1 picture" is a 20 times a day for every time the man leaves his house. Imagine you getting interrupted all day every day, in everything you do, by rando's.
Especially since a cyclist (sports in general) don't aim to be famous, only to be the best in their sport. Its collateral. Contrary to tv celebritities and shit, in that case you ask for it and I have no mercy.

there's a very easy solution for that: don't ride around in the white jersey. Just dress like any other cyclo and be at peace. You don't need fancy kit to train unless you're exercising your vanity.
I am gonna go out on a limb and predict that Pogacar is gonna get cracked this year. Screencap this.
>>
>>153404898
>You don't need fancy kit to train unless you're exercising your vanity.
it's not vanity, they're contractually obligated to train in their team kits. it's also in UCI rules, iirc.
>>
>>153403544

If one is an actual fan of some runner, one wants him to win. To win, the runner needs peparation, focus, and not disturbance and being bothered. Alleged fans who harras runners, or even cause them to chute, are acting against own self-interest.

>>
>>153405311
>it's not vanity, they're contractually obligated to train in their team kits. it's also in UCI rules, iirc.
UCI rules say it's up to the sponsors and teams to decide. So if their top dog complains that people are harassing him and it's messing with his training and his mind, it will fuck up his recovery and the results will go down the drain. Pogacar has more than enough leverage to ask his sponsors and team to train incognito if it's better for him mentally.
but the thing is, they love it when people treat them like gods. But when 1 in 1000 people is being a cunt, he immediately loses his patience and has to make a whiny little bitch post like that. Who the fuck complains about retarded fans? Who gives a flying fuck lmao. Beta vibes. Pogashart going now, berts. Cap it.

bad reference point. You have to evaluate yourself when you go back into parasympathetic state. As long as you're wired, the fight/fight hormones mask your true energy levels.
Calm down, rest and when you're chilling, see if you feel rekt or not.

> “By veering slightly east towards the village of Briastre, we arrive at a situation where the first four sectors follow one another in quick succession, with almost no asphalt in between, creating an unmatched density of cobbles. Two years ago, Alpecin-Deceuninck had already begun to scatter the peloton at this stage. happens to me all the time. I perform very well on the bike and that same night I wake up prematurely, sweating, feel like shit for days. It's easy to push through your reserves and when you finally manage to "rest" you realize you completely rekt yourself. At least to me it is.
>>
>>153409143
According to google it's only 26m altitude gain, if I look up the rue de forest in Briastre. So it is even less of an issue than the Steenbeekdries, barely a climb for someone from the non-low countries I'd assume.

He went to visma because he WANTED the strict rules and waying his food by the gram with an army people telling him what to do. He left his former team because he didn't like the lose way of working.
And now he goes to an even worse team in those aspects and comes with such cope. The man will never live up to his potential.
>>
Jonathan Vaughters of EFEEP:
>To take Isaac del Toro as an example, I fought as hard as I possibly could to get that kid. We were sort of on him very, very, very early on in the cycle. We had identified him correctly and it would have been the highest neo-pro contract I’d ever given anyone in the history of this team. But I mean, ultimately, I think our offer was less than half of what UAE’s was. So, it’s like, of course he went to UAE, man. I mean, it makes sense.

there's both extremes: either too lax or too strict. The ideal is in between.
Everyone needs some external guidance; too little and you have too many blind spots. Too much and you turn into a machine/slave and get depressed.

When Van Gils won Andalucia 2024 they didn't count the GC so I don't know why they would do it for Soler now

4/5 vs 1/2 cancelled. Costa Calida was a shorter race from the start, the number of kms in both absolute and relative sense NR-ed is less than it was in the 2024 case.
Winning a 5km ITT, not even racing any other stages, being enough to win a GC of a race usually having 5 stages would have been a bigger outrage.
Not that I think Soler should have this GC win, btw.

No better way to break the curse than winning TdF, is there?
