going to be interesting to see how much longer the whitecaps last here. mls has given them a deadline of end of 2026 to come up with a formal stadium proposal. they do have an agreement in place with the city of vancouver for a 99 year lease on land for a new site for the stadium, but the mayor has also flat out said there wont be any tax money involved in funding the construction. mls really wants them to own the stadium so they can count it on the asset sheet and make it seem like this club is worth billions. the wolves are circling and this team could be moving to sacramento by the end of this decade. sad to see them go. i remember watching them play even before joining mls at swangard stadium. maybe they get recreated in the canadian soccer league or something.
