But the entire discourse about the NBA pretty much all season long is never positive. It's always complaining about the number of games, players not caring, load management, the transition to a three point chuckfest, how games are irrelevant until the final few minutes, the playoffs are too long... there's almost never any positive news stories and feedback about the league.

Yeah they're like the Lakers or Real Madrid of AFL but I had no idea when I picked them. I just liked their games were always electric and good energy. It's a broken sport beyond repair. You need a superstar to realistically contend, and there's only like 5 of them. The talent pool is so incredibly low that even if you get the number one pick, you might still be getting a role player. It's the only sport where you don't even need to be good to make it the highest level, you just need to be really really tall.

Modern NBA isn't even basketball. It's a glorified scrimmage

Everyone who whines about the NBA being unwatchable always sounds like a casual who doesn't watch basketball or hasn't for 15 years. Always boomers who don't know ball or just a bunch of braindead miga racists.
FACT: High level NBA games are as good as they've ever been, the playoffs are full of amazing performances every year.
FACT: The game was absolute dogshit to watch in the 90s/00s that everyone years for, when pace was at its absolute bottom. Shaq overpowering dudes was cool, but not when you watched 4 other dudes stand around and him shimmy around for 30 seconds on the shot clock every single time down the floor.
Passing, cutting, pace, and fast breaks are all much more interesting to watch.

If the NBA fixes it's referee issues, which are real, the boring aspects of today's game, mainly foul baiting and sitting through 50 FTAs every night, are gone. If players actually develop some hybrid inside/outside skills, we might see a return to play under the basket, because a varied attack a la the Warriors Death Lineup or the Spurdoras is probably the nicest brand of ball to watch (3 point barrages where none of them sink are hard to watch, "live and die by the three" is a horrid philosophy).
