>>153789595the national league came first, then the american league became a major league later and they signed an agreement tin 1903 that basically established what is MLB today. that agreement established the world series, and it used to be that regular season play was intraleague only. interleague play in the regular season was only established in 1997. the major difference between the two leagues was that the AL adopted a DH (designated hitter) to replace the pitcher's spot in the linup in the 70's, whereas in the national league pitchers had to bat. that all ended only a few years ago in 2022 when manfred the baseball terrorist forced the DH into the national league.
