Monday, March 9

Korea 7 - 2 Australia
The most tense 7-2 game of all time, Korea does just enough to win the tiebreak over Australia and Taiwan and advance to the quarterfinals. Brutal error in the 9th by Australia to allow the tiebreak winning run. Pool C put on a show.

Dominican Republic vs Israel
Israel is still very much alive as they try to pull off a massive upset here.

Colombia vs Panama
Colombia can possibly avoid relegation with a win. Panama is still alive to advance but it's a longshot, they can still finish last as well.

Brazil vs Great Britain
Relegation bowl

Cuba vs Puerto Rico
Both teams are 2-0, a win guarantees a quarterfinal berth. The crowd should be electric for this matchup of traditional caribbean powerhouses, though neither is actually anything close to a powerhouse at the moment.

Venezuela vs Nicaragua
Nicaragua tries one more time to win their first ever WBC game. But even if they somehow pull off the upset they will finish in last place

Mexico vs USA
The game of the day. Both teams are 2-0, though a win still does not guarantee advancement as Italy is 2-0 as well. Mexico has won three consecutive games against USA in the WBC. Hard to say which way the crowd will lean but it will be a rowdy one no doubt.

we don't even know when the next WBC will be btw
>>
>>153796517
They scored too
>>
>>153796544
Is it always held in proper Baseball nations, or do they do like FIFA and host it in new places (so long as they can afford the bribes)?

Pool standings. Who's getting out of pool B? Italy's a spoiler and a dark horse. Odds are Mexico and USA.

baseball countries. It's always in USA and Japan, and there's always one or two other hosts also, each group is played in a different stadium. The final rounds have always been in the USA.
This year there's also a group in Puerto Rico.
Taiwan, Korea, Canada, and Mexico have also hosted a group or two before. DR and Venezuela have not even though they are 2 of the 4 best baseball countries, politics I guess for Venezuela, and DR I can only assume just doesn't have the facility for it.

wew what a play
>>
Can jizzum save gbr
>>
Why cant they play like how they did vs. the US
Are they stupid

lmao

>Korea fought hard to just get the chance to lose horribly against DR

DR is an MLB All-Star team. Korea's great but they can't compare. This is probably the best DR team in years, and I hope they win. These little countries need some wins under their belt for national pride.

The fact they almost went to QF even with injuries show how strong they are

Premier12 will be fun next year specially with them and Korea strong and Japan bleeding players to MLB
>>
>>153797064
Brazil made a game of it with the US (until the 9th). Just keep cultivating those Japanese descendents.

Bo was also bad luck. Maybe he'll be able to next time.

We havent played against Korea, i think you are confused...
>>
It's OVAH

I'm glad Korea made the quarterfinals to keep their positive baseball momentum going, KBO has been huge lately. I guess you could say the same thing about Taiwan though, but they at least have some recent success to fall back on. Korea was a more desperate situation, another poor showing here could have been a death blow. My ideal world would have had both of them advancing and Japan being knocked out somehow.
>>
>>153799312
really would love to see the guy that decided WBC should be held in a rainforest
>>
Nicaragua baby what the fuck are you doing
>>
>>153799540
'>we' fucking suck
>>
>>153799810
KBO has always been huge. I lived a ten minute walk away from Sajik for a couple years. Absolutely hype there. Cannot recommend going to games there enough. Get your chicken off the back of a truck, a flat of beer from the homeplus, and walk into the atmosphere.

I want to go to a game at the Tokyo Dome one day. I really know nothing about Japanese baseball. But seeing it in the WBC this year made it look amazing.
>>
well Mexico vs USA is over
time to watch Cuba and PR until the next inevitable rain delay, looks like it's raining pretty hard
>>
>>153800782
NPB there is pretty soulless because Yomiuri. You are better off at pretty much any other park. I did the Yahoo dome and it was great, but frankly the games in Korea are better. Japanese are too orderly and polite even when making noise at the game.
