No one. Iran's team will come here for the WC and they WILL be forced into refugee status.

Possibly Iraq

Iraq is in the intercontinental playoffs, they defeated the UAE to get there. If Iran doesn’t make a backsie soon, FIFA can just give Iraq the direct ticket and let the UAE take their spot in the intercontinental playoffs

who will take spain's place tho?

They're rescuing those poor barrels of oil that are being cruelly held by despotic regimes. There are even rumours that Venezuela and Iran were going to SELL those barrels to other countries! For money! Those barrels could have been sent anywhere in the world (except America due to sanctions). It's only right that America should intervene and rescue the barrels for free.

Ok, this is based for a fifa president. The alternative would be banning iran, which i was 100% sure gianni argentino would do. I know trusting trump is stupid and maybe iran itself wont allow the players to leave, but he did what was within his grasp.

There are planes leaving from Iraq, not all are grounded. Besides their own government could fly their own team out if it was really that hard, it isn't.

The Islamic Republic will have unconditionally surrendered by then and there will be a US/Israel friendly government in place, elected by a free Iranian people, so I don't see why they wouldn't be allowed?
>>
>>153823098
I dunno. Why would you award a World Cup to Qatar? Why would you make the tournament too big for any country to host it? Why would a governing body for a sport award a global Peace Prize? The minds of FIFA executives are opaque and inscrutable.

FIFA ironically wouldn't ban Iran for the war, but because some of the people they killed after the protest repression were professional athletes.
>>
>>153819490
Infantino invented a new plastic FIFA peace medal just to suck off trump.
Absolutely would not put it past him to tell the Iranian players "go out and say you support the bombing of your own people or your football careers are over for good".
Are you even aware that 4-5 of the iranian players were already banned from entering the US before the war because they were considered terrorists by Israel for having been part of some non-militant government organizations? And if Israel says "jump", America says *gag gulp gag*

Probably mixed but you can't disagree with a regime
>>
>>153819560
>>153835097
I think it probably depends on where they're from. I think most people who live in Tehran probably oppose the regime, but if you go out into rural Iran, the Islamic Republic will have a lot more support. If most of the players are from big cities, they'll oppose it, but if they're from small towns or villages, they probably support it. I can't be sure, but I've always assumed it was a roughly 50/50 split across the country. Remember that the Shah was a vicious psycho nigger as well.

Will Iran go or will they be replaced? Their state media and Iran's FA have been walking back the boycott threat made by the sports minister. Not sure if they want to be there. Handlers would need to keep players on a tight leash to not have them protest or defect. Only can call up players loyal to the regime. That's if the US allows them in. Iran diaspora will be protesting against the regime.

Belgium won't do shit at WC26 so might as well play a better side like Denmark, Italy, Turkey, ... There are over 30 Uefa teams ranked above Iraq. Guess Iraq or UAE would also field a stronger team than Iran but the game will be a snoozefest.
>>

>Iraq or UAE would also field a stronger team than Iran
Iran is one of the best countries in that entire region what the fuck are you smoking?
>>
>>153847410
I guess he is assuming that not every player will be willing to go, or some might want to defect and morale will be low, especially if they know people killed or if players themselves are killed that kind of rules them out also.

I think playing is a bad idea. Maybe FIFA could be understanding and defer their spot for the next world cup while giving it to the next middle eastern team for this one. A swapsies. While UEFA does deserve more spots it wouldn't make much sense to give it to a UEFA team.

I jokingly suggested on plebbit they should give it to Israel just to complete circus, but you know in clownworld we can't be that sure it won't happen.
>>
>>153820148
Only a matter of time before they start talking about the use of "defensive nuclear strike" or "defensive chemical attacks".
Actually, they kinda have already done chemical warfare by bombing that oil installation in Teheran and effectively subjected the entire city to toxic rain.
>>
>>153847002
The apex banter is that if we all move to solar power, we don't get enough sunshine in Northern Europe so we'll still be buying solar power from sunny countries, which are literally the Middle East again.

And they've left on a plane from Iraq. Most of their players weren't even in Iraq. Now that Iran ceased their 24hr boycott of the World Cup, Iraq no longer struggled to get visas and fly to Mexico for the POs. Funny that.

We wouldn't buy solar power from the Middle East. The main drawback with renewable energy at the moment is that current battery technology is inefficient, so if you produce an excess of energy from solar or wind power you can't just bank it and use it later at peak usage times. The main benefit of fossil fuels and nuclear energy at the moment is that you can just burn more fuel on demand to get a boost in energy whenever it's needed.

Although a benefit of renewable energy is that you can use your own country's geography to your advantage. So Britain would be relying more on wind power rather than solar, as an example, and we wouldn't need to rely on importing a resource for energy if we invest in the infrastructure.

Are Israel not already at the competition? I thought they were in Ireland's group? Given it's held in the US though, I can imagine them actually just giving spot to Israel anyway so they can have two chances at the group stage kek
