>Montana>Idaho>Wyoming>North Dakota>South Dakota>Nebraska>IowaThey aren't any NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB teams in those states. Why?
>>153863423There are no people there to support a big franchise.
American sports leauges are closed systems about bringing in as much money as possible. Those areas have the population of 50 people and 100 bison
Because they are evil
>>153863423Nobody lives there and the ones who do are poor or too busy to give a shit about sportsball
Montana is bigger than Germany landwise, and has 1 million people. Germany has over 83 million.
>>153863423Most of the population centers in those states are close enough to other population centers. Iowa and Nebraska's major cities are close to Kansas City, North and South Dakota's biggest cities hug the Minnesota border, Wyoming's largest metro area is very close to Denver and Idaho is split between the Mormon corridor tied to Utah and the Panhandle tied to Washington. Montana, who the fuck knows, Ted Turner hasn't broadcast the Chinese Buffalo Heeming yet, and maybe he never will.
>>153863671>MontanaLocals root for the college team but most of Montana is well off transplants who take their teams with them.
the population in all of those states combined is 24
>>153863701Taylor Sheridan is making documentaries.
>>153863770>Taylor SheridanWho
>>153864945He makes shows for boomers about cowboys and oil men. He's seen as Hollywood's biggest creator.
>>153863423Those leagues only put teams in the biggest metro areas and teams are constantly moving to bigger ones in search of more money. You could put Montana and Wyoming together and have less people than most of the cities with NFL teams if not all of them
>>153863423Those areas are White so jewish league owners don't want them in their leagues
>>153863423Their combined population is about a thousand people or so.For a capital driven society people do not exist, only "markets" do, and these are not enough.
>>153866078They could benefit from sports entertainment as well.
>>153863423What's the square in the ocean ? Bermuda ?
>>153869113No, it's Atlantis
>>153869113It's just a thing of the map maker
>>153863423People don’t live there that’s where we raise the ingredients to make burgers
Flight times + weather + low population make it very difficult to justify the cost for instance, Wyoming has a smaller population than Alaska and has the worst weather conditions in North America
They just don't have any large metro areas. The largest in that region is Omaha-Council Bluffs. That's only 1 million people.
>>153863423They aren’t big enough to support a franchise
>>153871965One million people is a good amount of people. They deserve a sports team.
>>153873551If there was a professional sports team in Omaha it would be the worst media market in any Big 4 leaguehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_television_stations_in_North_America_by_media_market
>>153863423No billionaire cares enough about their city/state enough to put a team there. Oklahoma city was never going to have a market but the owner wanted a team in his home town that badly for the NBA so he moved the Seattle Supersonics there. Everybody hates it but he had the money to do what he wanted.
they live way better lives to care about sports
>>153874164I feel like even then it would still be an extremely small market team.
>>153877209It's better to have a team than no team.
>>153863423This gets asked all the time, and the answer doesn't change. No one lives there. Look at a population density map.
>>153880850It wouldn't be a very profitable franchise is my point.
>>153863423All the income of people in that part of the country is spent on alcohol. They are brainless retarded zombies.
>Why are states that fucking suck where no one lives deprived of cool shit?
>>153863423boise will get a team in some league in 2045ish
>>153887032Why wait that much?
>>153886988They should get cool stuff too.
>>153863423what professional team in alabama, mississipi, arkansas, and Kansas(everyone plays in MO)?
>>153863423>Why don’t these states have teams in the major leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB)?Because those seven states have a combined total of like 750 residents. Who the fuck is going to go to the games?
>>153890307Boise still isn’t very big but it is growing fast
>>153863423Too remote. Fans in those states largely just align with the neighboring professional teams or the teams of their hometowns considering the amount of transplants.
>>153863423They don't have the TV markets to support pro teams and they're already accounted for by teams in nearby states. Like, for example, someone from Idaho is probably going to be a Seahawks or Broncos fan, a Jazz fan, and a Kraken or Mammoth fan.On the other hand, Idaho and North Dakota are two of the fastest-growing states in the country. So maybe in 20 years we'll see Boise and Fargo become pro sports towns like what's happened with Vegas.
As far as I'm concerned Iowa is Chiefs territory
Those states have a combined population of like 2,000,000
>>153895459A lot of Bears fans, some Vikings
>to have a sports franchise you have to have millions of poor browns living on top of eachother!what did this thread mean by this
Has anyone thought of a verry funny joke that goes like: "the combined population of these states is [humourously low number]?" Haven't seen it in this thread yet.
>>153895491You just posted it.
>>153864992>create quality shows without making your political views the main point of the entire story>hit show after a hit showAnd his shows aren't exactly clean of politics either, but pushing the political message isn't the entire point of the shows.
>>153863423You're missing a few other states that don't have any major sports teams. The biggest shocker is Kentucky. They could easily stick a team right in the middle of Lexington and Louisville. Bring together two college fanbases that hate each other for an NBA team. They'd sell out every game with ease.
>>153896471>Bring together two college fanbases that hate each other for an NBA team. They'd sell out every game with ease.Such as?
>>153898004University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. They're in-state rivals and hate each other. HUGE basketball fanbases. Stick an NBA team down there, and they could come together for a sell out every single game.
>>153867949>They could benefit from sports entertainment as well. There's always college sports, which is huge in some places. Hell, college hockey is more fun than NHL imo
>>153898138A Kentucky team would also have Cincinnati going down, who used to have an team and still want one. Just seems like the most overlooked area. If shit ever goes completely south between the Bengals and the city, they would move to Kentucky, so there's that.
>>153896351It's that he appeals to that exurban/rural politics instead of the city politics. You know there are a whole lot of shows set in New York or LA or even Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Baltimore, San Francisco, Boston, Miami etc. That depict fast-paced hospitals, murder-heavy Police Investigation Units, People's Apartment Roommates and common areas and so on. But a lot of people don't live in New York or LA. In fact for the most part nearly 90% of people don't even live in New York or LA's media market. Frankly even people in New York and LA are sick of seeing New York and LA, I watch TV to escape, I don't watch TV to go "oh look, that's Hidden Valley, I know a girl who died there." or "Hey that's Sunset Park, I know someone who is buried there!"
There are basically no markets left in the USA that aren't already satisfied by college sports or too stuffed with transplants for a team to build any sort of loyalty. They're trying with Vegas and they might try soon with Austin or Nashville but it'll be the same story.Charlotte was a failed experiment but I think somewhere in the corridor of Raleigh/VA Beach/Richmond could work. That and Portland are the only remaining places where people still have a sort of hometown pride
>>153863423Omaha should have an NHL team
>>153863423only white ppl live there and white ppl can't ball
>>153898138George Shinn and Jordan permafucked that market for the NBA and David Tepper is trying to do the same for the NFL. The Hurricanes have a solid fanbase though.

>why doesn't Wyoming have a major sports teamHave you been there? It's a fucking wasteland. You could probably buy a house cash for like $40k. Only problem would be dealing with intense winds and fending off bears
>>153902214Bears? I thought those lived further up north.
>>153902285They're encountered a lot in Wyoming, maybe they kill a guy or two a year though. Still, I don't want to be anywhere near a bear in a windy wasteland

low population density
>>153902625Increase population density then.

>>153905226dem bears dindu nuffin!
Life in those states seem pretty comfy. Low population density, cold climate, lots of nature, no dystopian hellish urban landscapes, slow pace. Sounds like potentially the best place to live in the US. Can any ameribro confirm?
>>153905478It's a great area if you are an individualist, maybe someone who owns their own business or doesn't mind not always having "something to do" i.e you cant create your own entertainment. There is a lot of freedom to do whatever you want. It is whatever you want to make out of it.
>>153905494Sounds amazing, nice to know this america still exists. Hopefully it's not drug ridden like so much of the rest of the country though
>>153905226But what if I am going out with a Picanic Basket?
>>153905569Wellll I dont know Boo boo
They're all empty as fuck
>>153902537Aren't some areas of Brazil like that too?
>>153909196They need more population.
>>153863423The real reason is a lack of corporate support. Luxury boxes, club seats, sponsorships, etc. are what teams really crave and it's corporations that have the budget to pay ridiculous prices for those things year after year, increase after increase.>>153909663Yeah but instead of being barren steppe being farmed by a handful of people, Brazil just has inhospitable jungle with some stone age savages
>>153905478I know a guy who moved there. He's a fly-fishing guide in the summers, forgot what he does in the winter. But he is loving life.
>>153915051They're just not too hospitable is the problem. Like that's where we keep our ICBMs and where the buffalo roam. It's a fantasy world for people in cities to think about vacationing. Preserved because its economic purpose is to maintain the wild parts of America. It's huge swaths of National Parks and Federal Land, land bought by people like Ted Turner for the preservation of the American Buffalo. Most of our population hugs the coast and to our major river systems. Places where it's economically useful to have people. Leibenstraum mindset doesn't really apply to places like this. They exist in their state because there is a need for lightly populated areas dominated by their nature. You can't just turn every beautiful splotch of land into Los Angeles.
>>153905494>>153902214>house for 40k>live off the grid>freedom from niggersWhy dont any of you just move up there? Cant you find any decent job in Montana?
>>153863423because they have minor league teams, which is the American equivalent to the soccer leagues below Premier League like Champion and English League.
>>153898052bring back the Kentucky Colonels, move the Grizzlies back to Vancouver
>>153902285you're thinking of grizzly bears. black bears live in every singe state in the union besided Hawaii.
>>153921010I think a major league team would be nice as well. Not having one makes you root for a team elsewhere, which is fine, but it would be better if you cool support a team closer to home.
>>153863423Theres a whole lot of nothing in that area of the country. Pretty comfy to live in though.
>>153929179What makes it comfy?
>>153898206They like the land you live on cletus not you.
Because of how rural it isThe minor leagues do pretty well tho
>>153918488most of these guys work ski resorts in the winter. im a fishing guide in the summer and ski lift maintenance in the winter. its a sweet way to live.
>>153961051>The minor leagues do pretty well thoWhich sports?
>>153863423there's just not enough peopleOmaha is the largest city/metro in that area at 55th, followed by Boise at 74 and Des Monies at 82the only cities smaller than Omaha with big pro teams are Green Bay (historical oddity) and New Orleans (relatively recent decline post-Katrina)
>>153863423The great plains are uninhabited. You have to go north into the Canadian prairie or south before you start seeing people.
>>153924090those people genuinely don't care about the majors. there are minor league baseball fans who actively hate the MLB, there are college football fans who don't even know the names of all the NFL teams.
Tbh an NFL team could survive in Nebraska. Similar to Buffalo bills, the local community would make it their life. For context they suck dick at college football for 2+ decades and still sell 95k tickets for every game in that stretch, and will again next year. There is literally nothing else to do or care about there so it would work. T. Nebraskan, no longer living there
>>153863423my nigga there are more cows than people up there, plus thats where we keep all of our nuclear missile silos so the less people hanging around the better.
>>153973448Do they love meat, milk and cheese?
>>153977696yes and corn
>>153863423there's historically "okay" college football teams in Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
>>153979909Have they ever played against NFL teams?
For me? It’s the Vandals, the pride of North Idaho. Also these states (at least Idaho and Montana) are outdoorsman’s paradises. The most popular “sports” here are fishing and hunting by a very wide margin.

>>153968510Does Canada has any plan to populate the Canadian West?
>>153987455What's lacrosse like? Have you played it?
>>153863423north american pro leagues are run like a fucking publicly traded company with a board of 10+ dweebs who went to the same business school and are now dead set on maximizing profit at every turn. if there isnt a sp500 listed company operating out of the city/town that will pay hundreds of millions for the naming rights of the stadium and be one of the teams main sponsors, they will find some other willing city/company.
>>153996832Well they're paying billions of dollars. They're not a charity. The days of sports having SOVL are long over. If you can't recognize that you're just a customer now, I don't know what else I can tell you to make it obvious
>>153996832>>153997165Maybe the situation can be improved. You can have fun and earn money as well.

>>154007320I think the Midwestern states are further east, those are called Great Plains states, I think.
>>154007233Do you follow the MLS?

University of Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, and Boise State have sports covered for the bigger states.
