That's pretty cool, I'm glad Brazil has a more developed baseball scene than Peru. Have you played? Do you have a favorite MLB team? How did you end up following the Japanese league?

Peru has silver medal in the bolivarian games few motnhs ago and usually is the bestg sotuh american team outside of brazil and venezuelan

I just got into baseball some time ago and I didn't know that now I hope I can get the national team soon and meanwhile I'm waiting for the MLB to start and watch some games.

Also do you know Japanese? I've heard baseball in Brazil is promoted by the Japanese diaspora. Is that true?

I recommend check a local team on peruan baseball federation if you want to play

There has a lot of baseball, free also, not just MLB

MLB is good, but doesn't has the best atmosphere imo, asian and latino baseball are the best on it

I'm not japanese dependent, but I studied Japanese beacuse lot of stuffs I like comes threre

Yea baseball is largely organized by Japanese decendents but nowadays is more open to everyone, you probally noticed this time our national team has more people than before

Ah, I was wondering what happened to you considering how excited you were when Brazil qualified.

I'll give a summery of the teams for the first match. (dont expect this level of detail for all teams i cba)

Okinawa Shogaku (沖縄尚学) is a private school from Okinawa Prefecture. They are the premier team from Okinawa, having made 20 appearances at Koshien, the most of any school from the prefecture. They are one of only two Okinawan schools to have ever won the tournament, doing so three times (Spring 1999, Spring 2008, and Summer 2025). Their most recent Koshien appearance came this past summer, where they won the tournament. As the defending champions, they are considered strong favourites.
Fall stats: 6 W, 1 L; AVG .303; 1 HR; 1.22 ERA

Standout player: Ryosuke Sueyoshi (末吉 良丞) #1, Pitcher, 3rd year.
61.2 IP / 2.04 ERA / 47 H / 60 K / 24 BB / 14 ER (previous Koshien + U-18 national team stats).
An ace pitcher who won last year’s Summer Koshien as a second year student, he also represented Japan in the 2025 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He is one of the most highly rated players in this tournament and a projected top draft pick.

Media ranking: A

Teikyo (帝京) is a private school from Tokyo Prefecture. This will be Teikyo’s 27th appearance at Koshien, but their first since Summer 2011. They are a former powerhouse, having won Koshien three times (Summer 1989, Summer 1995, and Spring 1992). Teikyo won last fall’s Tokyo tournament and qualified for the Meiji Jingu Tournament, earning a spot in Spring Koshien. The school is also highly successful in soccer, having won the Soccer Koshien six times and has produced a large number of J.League players.
Fall stats: 8 W, 1 L; AVG .354; 7 HR; 1.61 ERA

Standout player: Ryunosuke Medai (目代 龍之介) #8, Outfielder/Pitcher, 2nd year.
27 AB / .370 AVG / 10 H / 2 HR / 11 RBI / 4 SB.
A power hitter who has stated he aims to hit seven or more home runs at Koshien (which would break the tournament record). He also hopes to play in the Majors.
Sidenote: Teikyo has a Hafu pitcher named Pascal Junior (Nigerian-Japanese).

>>153924695
>I recommend checking a local team in the Peruvian Baseball Federation if you want to play.
I've checked but there are no news since last year, I guess nothing has happened since then, I expect more things to show up in April and beyond.

>There is a lot of baseball available, and much of it is free, not just MLB.
You mean in Brazil or online?

>MLB is good, but it does not have the best atmosphere in my opinion. Asian and Latin American baseball have the best atmosphere.
What do you mean? The fans? The stadiums?

a designated hitter is a player who only bats and doesn't play a defensive position
every other batter has a defensive position except for him
>>
>>153925114
So they didn't use a DH before? Well, I hope the game gets more interesting, since from what I'm reading, having a DH makes hits and runs more likely.

in the old days the pitcher used to also bat, but since pitchers usually tend to suck batting due focusing on pitching, they eded up creating the DH

this why ohtani is special, rarely someone is good on both, specially noways

From what I'm reading not having a DH was part of the strategy, right? Since I see you have an order on when do players play.

>Thanks for all your answers.
no probs, ask away and we will try to help you

>>153925433
some traditionlaist think that there was a strategy to know where in the lineup you put the pitcher, but i disagree in parts with the idea DH removes strategy

in fact it add another one, not only you need to decide where in lineup it goes, but also the type of batter you will use

for exemple, you can pick one that bats more ground instead of homerun, or a player tha runs fast

the tatical part of DH is just overlooked beacuse most manegers are lasy and just go use the batter that does home runs

air raid siren = start/end of the game
they sing their school song
>>
>>153925687
air siren signs start and end of a game, while is useless nowadays its part of tradition beacuse its a tradition from 100 years ago before radio was even a thing

the song they play at end is the school anthem, they play both on 2nd inning and then the winner school anthem after the game

while this tradition started in japan, it became part of the game internationally, as you noticied yesterday when venezuela anthem was played after the final
>>
>>153925695

I see now thanks. I didn't know that was a Japanese tradition, honestly that's pretty cool.

Anan Hikari (阿南光) is a public school from Tokushima Prefecture. As one of only four public schools at this year's tournament, they will have their work cut out for them. The school was formed through a merger and was technically founded in 2018, meaning this is only Hikaris third Koshien appearance. They last attended in Spring 2024, where they surprisingly made it to the quarter-finals. The school made it to the finals of the Shikoku regional tournement last fall and thus was selected to go to Spring Koshien.
Stats: 7 W, 1 L; Avg .285; 0 HR; 2.12 ERA
Standout player: None?

Media ranking: B

Chukyodai Chukyo (中京大中京) is a private school from Aichi Prefecture. They are historically the strongest school in the country and have made it to Koshien 62 times, and have won 11 titles (4 Spring, 7 Summer) which is the most for any school. All this should come with the important caveat that, most of their success happened far in the past (I'm talking like 1930s). Their last Koshien appearance was Summer 2024 where they lost in the 2nd round.
Stats: 10 W, 1 L; Avg .283; 1 HR; 2.20 ERA
Standout player: Shōsei Ogita (荻田翔惺) #9, Outfielder, 3rd year. .395 Avg (17-for-43) with 6 RBIs in 11 official games. He the also the captain of the team and idolizes Seiya Suzuki.

Hachinohe Gakuin Kōsei (八戸学院光星) is a private school from Aomori Prefecture, this will be their 24th Koshien appearance and their first since Spring 2024. They have never won Koshien but were runners-up 3 times during the early 2010s. Traditional powerhouse school, they recruit baseball players from across the country and have them board. They also have the largest baseball club of any school at the tournament with 87 members. No MLB alumni but a bunch in the NPB, most notable would probably be Hayato Sakamoto who is a 13x NPB All-Star and won the Gold medal at the 2020 summer olympics with Samurai Japan.
Stats: 8 W, 1 L; Avg: .275; HR: 4; ERA: 1.18.
Standout Player: Akihiro Kitaguchi (北口 晃大) #1, Pitcher, 3rd year. He pitched 62 innings in Autumn with 51 K's and 0.73 ERA. Including a 140 pitch complete game shut out in the semi-finals of the Tohoku regionals.(He also occupies the DH role through the Ohtani rule)

Media ranking: B

Sutoku (崇徳) is a private school from Hiroshima Prefecture. This will be Sutoku's first Koshien appearance since 1993 and their 6th overall. Despite the low number of appearances, Sutoku have actually won Koshien once, 1976 Spring (Exactly 50 years ago btw). Actually, that tournament was the last time they ever won a game at Spring Koshien as in their only other two appearances they lost in the 1st round. The school won the fall Hiroshima and Chugoku tournaments, earning them a place in the Meiji Jingu and this years Spring Koshien.
Stats: 10 W, 2 L; Avg .322; 3 HR; 1.76 ERA
Standout player: Rinku Tokumaru (徳丸 凜空) #1, Pitcher, 3rd year. 85.1 IP, 63 H, 83 K, 15 BB/HBP, 17 R, 1.48 ERA. He pitched 3 complete game shutouts in the fall Chugoku tournament.
