Honestly, I don't get it. Why does a sport where the entire purpose is to injure someone even exist?Imagine training your whole life to give brain damage to someone, and risk getting brain damage yourself.Just...why?
>>153978000Are you ethnically Chinese? I thought Malays would be relatively open to the idea of struggle to combat ... in the name of Allah at leastCombat sports exist because mankind has a very long history of warfare. Military training, rituals, the genuine struggle for survival ... at some point, people realized it was entertaining. That's the core of it. Even if you dislike genuine war and gore, people still like seeing struggle in a controlled environment. Two men giving their all and pushing through the pain, one victor and one vanquished. It's raw. It's deeply rooted in our conscience, and every culture has some sort of form of combat they identify with to a degree. And the good thing about the controlled environment is that there still is sportsmanship and no one has to kill each other. It is a friendly competition with rules and norms, but still fierce and intenseI'm not a huge enjoyer of it myself, but I don't doubt that it has its space. It always had. Call it primal and uncivilized, but it's part of our nature. And we made it as civilized as possible at least
>>153978000Every other sport is arbitrary. Combat sports are the only real one. Fighting is natural and a lot of countries have folk wrestling styles and striking.
Boxing exists so youtubers can make money off dumb zoomers.
>>153978000I agree. They should fight to the death instead.
>>153978136This. It is the purest form of contest outside of actual battle.
>>153978070>Are you ethnically Chinese?Uhm yes, but that's not the reason why I have this thought. I mean, there's different types of martial arts in chinese culture. And I do love watching fights from time to time, it's just that when i think deeper, I realise it's kinda weird that it even exists. I mean, it's fun to watch people fight, but training your whole life to injure someone just feels...kinda weird. Idk, maybe I'm in the minority here.
>>153978156My train of thought simply is that the Chinese are more focused on education and commerce than ethnic Malays, and Chinese culture is said to be more about good "civilized" behavior. If I heard about people in Malaysia chimping out in any form, I wouldn't expect the ethnic Chinese there to be behind it. So I had the gut feeling that you're not ethnic Malay and likely Chinese. The fact that China has a rich martial arts history just proves my point. As does you enjoying it sporadically - that's what it is about. There is a fascination to it. You're definitely right that it's weird to think about the entire physical damage aspect behind it. But by the time we figured that out for good, it already was too much of a spectacle. And some people are willing to take the risk while many others are willing to watch at least sporadically, and thus it continues
>>153978218>If I heard about people in Malaysia chimping out in any form, I wouldn't expect the ethnic Chinese there to be behind it.lmao this is unironically true. It's mostly malays and indians. But every time chinese gets into a street fight, they almost always winhttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/-nnhYgo8U74
>>153978000I don't know either. Just ban it.
>>153978070>Long, effortful essay that perfectly answers all the questions in the first reply>Check the flag>It's a German againWho is this nigga who knows everything about every sport?
>>153978156You're not training to injure your opponents. The sport exists as practice, so that if you get attacked and need to injure someone for real, you will know that you have the ability to do it. You don't actually try to injure your opponents in the sport itself.
>>153978000the lowest class appreciate it
