>The Isthmian League has received a written request from Hashtag United FC for the club to be relegated from Step 3 (7th tier) whether or not the club finishes in a relegation positionHahaha what I've seen resignations but this is a novelty.Joke club anyway.
Has Spencer Owen finally pulled the plug? Step 3 looking fucking embarrassing this season with the Widnes shitshow in the NPL and now this.
Do they have actual fans who buy tickets and go to games, even relative to that division? I know this thing has been around for ~ten years now, so everyone who has wanted to sponsor them or get a $100 jersey shipped to Norway because quirky internet chungus team have probably already done that. Our fake American soccer "pyramid" has clubs going bust and agreeing to move up/down a division via boardroom deals pretty often. Especially if an investor is out, it makes sense if they can probably afford to run the thing in the 8th tier, but the 7th is too much of a strain in terms of paying the players, facilities, professionalization when the money coming in is probably very similar.
>>153991862I've had a brief look and it seems because they're playing shit this season, they're wanting to drop down a division and win games again to get fans back. There seems to be a rumour of Hashtag merging with 8th tier Redbridge FC (not to be confused with Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League South). The club should have never joined the pyramid in the first place IMO.
>>153991791probably too expensive
Club statement has been released: https://twitter.com/hashtagutd/status/2036875086272123103tl;dr we can't operate at the 7th tier because we overspent, so we're dropping down a level, but this is a good thing guys!!!!!!Hopefully the FA throw them into the regional leagues instead.
>>153992084>Kwabtag United
>>153992084Yeah normally a voluntary relegation is normally two tiersAlso, shame for the integrity of their remaining games against relegation rivals and teams at the other end trying to get into the National League South
>it's not a relegation, it's a revolutionHaha fuck off.
It's nice that they're asking to be relegated no matter how they finish, because it means they won't be losing matches on purpose to tank their season. So they will still be trying to win, and that's good.
