Is your country represented in Major League Baseball?
>>
WTF???? I thought mexico was good at baseball
>>
>>154009591
Why are there so few Japanese and Korean players?
>>
>>154009618
Visa issues maybe?
>>
>>154009614
Some of our players end up leaving MLB due to domestic violence incidents, like Julio Urías or Roberto Osuna
>>
>>154009618
Korean baseball is somewhat overrated by casual fans. NPB posting system is a mess, and some players prefer to stay there, although that has changed in the last couple of seasons because of Ohtani
>>
>>154009678
Thanks for the explanation, Pablo
>>
>>154009678
How about Taiwanese baseball?
>>
>>154009618
Japan and Korea have strong leagues where you can make good money. Average salary in Korea is better than most AA guys are making. Why try to grind in America against stronger competition when you can make the equivalent of 6 figures against less competition at home in Korea
>>
>>154009786
It's at the level of high A baseball in the US, with some AA level players mixed in.
>>
>>154009820
>>154009821
Interesting. What do AA or high A mean?
>>
>>154009820
The average KBO salary is $125k a year, which you could live comfortably on...but if you were 23 and had the chance to play a couple years to play in the MLB minors and succeed...why not take it? You can always go back to KBO or Japan and you'd be a better player.
>>
pretty sure >we have 1
>>
>>154009867
There are levels in pro ball in the USA (MLB)
>Rookie
>A
>A+
>AA
>AAA
>MLB

You "graduate" through each league. Some guys skip leagues (high draft picks or older collegiant picks). Guys like Bryce Harper go straight to the MLB after only 120 minor league games. Some guys never make it past A+. A lot of people think once you make it to AA and have success...that is when you have a real shot at the MLB.

>outside the US
>Puerto Rico
>>
This country will be taken over by Venezuelans in a couple of generations, so yes.
>>
>>154009992
Very informative, thank you. Does this mean the Minor League Baseball is AAA? What is baseball like below that level?
>>
>>154010084
All of them are minor leagues other than MLB. AAA is the final stop before MLB.
>>
>>154009591
World Boreball "Classic" should just be the 8 teams from Mexico up
>>
>>154011761
You need more countries into baseball, not less.
>>
>>154009891
he's not on the MLB roster right now, but he will probably get some appearances in MLB here and there this season
>>
>>154009992
Who came up with that naming convention and can we murder all their descendants?

>>154009591
lowest percentage since 2002, and a pretty big drop from last season (27.8%). It's been a downtrend for a few years now

Where the fuck are the Aussies in MLB?
>>
>>154028133
Liam Hendriks is a free agent, maybe retired now, and also hasn't been good for several years since he got cancer or something
Curtis Mead didn't make the White Sox opening day roster, which is grim
Travis Bazzana should be called up by the Guardians at some point this year, probably soon

Italy just poached every player of Italian heritage. The only way it would make on the list if he was born in Italy and moved to the US as a newborn. The league here is legit plumbers tier so there's no way we will ever produce an MLB worthy player even if he had the talent because we wouldn't be able to develop his skills

Once a Jap became a NPB player, you have to play in Japan for 9 years to be an unrestricted FA, which is why Ohtani was trying to move to the US at 18 without joining a NPB team.
Nowadays many NPB teams have begun allowing players to move on to MLB through the posting system even if they haven't played for 9 years in Japan, but that still depends on the team’s decision.
There are currently multiple players negotiating with their teams to be allowed to move to MLB, and some of them won't get permission from their teams. It's been like this in the last few decades.
And of course, there are some players who are satisfied with their success in Japan and have no desire to go to MLB.

Also, foreign players under the age of 25 are not allowed to sign a large expensive contract with a MLB team due to the regurgitation so that's part of the reason too.

Because japanese are englishmen ? Fucking idiot

Pathetic we are more of an NBA and NHL nation anyways
>>
>>154009591
Why doesn't Finland have any MLB players or a WBC team, especially if they already have a type of baseball?
>>
>>154055460
I think they think. We already have our baseball, why play regular baseball?
