After it was announced, every NFL player just imagined they'd walk straight into the team and they'd dominate everyone
The guys who were already on the flag football national team were butthurt that people were just acting like they have no business being out there when NFL players were available

This allowed them to show NFL players and the general public that it's a completely different sport and they destroyed the NFL players
It's like soccer vs futsal or tennis vs pickleball, it's not the same thing no matter how much it seems like it
Now the flag players will probably get to play in the Olympics and the public knows how good they are, so I would imagine that's the endgame

Well, it says "Riyadh Season" on the ad, so it was funded by ragheads, along with Fanatics, the worst clothing company on the planet who somehow makes uniforms for several professional leagues
As far as the impetus, it's probably either the NFL players who want to get on the team and want practice, the flag guys and the olympic comittee to promote the sport, or the TV guys who said
