How would you fix the tanking problem?
>>
add a tier below with pro/rel
there are massive north american cities without pro teams
>>
>>154022239
We have that, it's NCAA.
>>
expand the league 64 teams so no matter how hard you tank, there will always be some team worse than you
>>
>>154021299
The only way is punish teams who tank with less % opportunity for the #1-5 picks, but it doesn't work when teams like Dallas magically win the first pick with the worst odds.
>>
>>154021299
make them play in wnba
>>
>>154021299
I keked when I saw the 3 big brain proposals are just "let's tweak the lottery" when it's been proven 50 times over there's no such thing as a lottery and the powers that be just choose
>Fix the actual game problem by making them best of 5 sets, 10 or 12 min each. Players will then have a reason to be invested throughout the game instead of just giving no fucks and chucking for 95% of the game until the foul-off begins (won't get into fixing THAT problem here)
>Draft order is determind by who WON the most sets among non-playoff teams. Preferably would come with a 4/6/8 team reduction in playoff teams but that'd never happen
>>
>>154021299
Bottom 5 teams lose 30% of their pay. Fucking instantly fixes all problems with this league. Money talks
>>
why fix it? gollum was fine with the big market teams doing it
>>
>>154023870
no other leagues have this problem
>>
>>154021299
Get rid of the draft. Players can sign for whever they want in a free market.
>>
>>154026196
cool it with the anti semitism bud
>>
>>154026099
hey, uh, how did the sharks get celebrini? how did the hawks get bedard? how did the oilers get mcdavid?
>>
>>154026196
>why are the NY and LA teams so stacked? how could this happen?
>>
>>154026457
>someone drafted 1st overall
>therefore they tanked
>>
>>154026493
and how did they do that?
>>
>>154021299

They need to fix the nigger problem first, that's far worse
>>
>>154021299
They are genuinely that bad though. That's what happens when like 8 teams have 3 super stars and everyone else has shit.
>>
>>154026512
by being bad but not deliberately.
>>
>>154026574
>but not deliberately.
youre adorable
>>
>>154026512
Even in Gary's magic "everyone finishes above .500" league someone has to come in lose.
>>
>>154026579
NHL teams don't sit out their star players and start minor leaguers for the 2nd half of the season.
>>
>>154026743
youre right. The vegas golden knights and tampa bay lightning definitely didnt abuse LTIR, they were really that injured
>>
>>154026764
that had nothing to do with tanking.
>>
>>154026818
I never said it did
>>
>>154021299
draft wheel or lottery position decided by when officially eliminated from the playoffs
>>
>>154026838
that won't fix tanking, just make it worse
>>
>>154026522
>NBA starts to DEI hire whites and Asians
>League immediately goes into the toilet
not a fan of YNs but we all know at least their chimpouts made NBA fun
>>
>>154026883
literally how
>>
>>154026936
>lottery position decided by when officially eliminated from the playoffs

That just encourages teams to commit to a tank sooner.

>>154026764
>normal team can afford 6 starters, 5 2nd line players, 5 3rd line players, 3 4th line players and a back up goalie
>want to be able to afford 6 starters, 5 2nd line players, 8 3rd line players and a back up
>this is "starting minor leaguers"
>>
>>154027003
>vegass
>normal team
>>
>>154027003
locked in from elimination as in if you're eliminated first you get the worst lottery pick or even just odds
>>
>>154027025
Yeah so I'm just going to lose the first 60 or so games to secure my top pick and then let rookies and reclamation projects try for the last 20.
>>
>>154027009
>nonsensical reply

Raped bitch
>>
>>154023364
This is the best solution
>>
>>154027050
you really aren't comprehending. Read slower and think this time
>>
>>154026099
MLB has tanking issues
Houston tanked for 3-4 years early 2010s
Piled up a bunch of prospects and won 4 pennants because of it

I trust your opinion to recognize being raped
>>
>>154027071
Oh, so you're suggesting that good teams just stay good forever. I support the NBA adopting that so it dies

>>154023364
This would just aggravate the superteam problem.
>>
>>154021299
Non-meme answer that would work but will never ever happen

>44-48 total teams
>24 team NBA, rest in the B league
>potentially add a C league when the NCAA inevitably collapses soon
>reduce regular season to 72 games (play most teams 3x and a couple divisional teams 4x)
>6 teams from each conference make the playoffs
>cross-seed playoffs
>1 and 2 seeds get byes
>first round is west 3 vs east 6, etc
>first and second round are 5 games
>conference finals and finals are 7 games
>bottom 4 teams get relegated
>top 4 B league get promoted
>eliminate the draft entirely
>hard salary cap so NY and LA can’t sign everyone like baseball
>>
American sports will never see promotion and relegation. Owners have too much power
>>
>>154027072
drafting doesn't work the same way since it's completely random who ends up a superstar and who end up sucking. Plus players stay in the minors for years before getting called up.
>>
What about this, for each team:
>remove the N game streak of consecutive games with the worst results
>remove the N game streak of consecutive games with the best results
>recalculate the tables, award resources based on that table.

That way you're removing outlier periods of short term good/bad form and should end up with the genuinely bad teams at the bottom rather than the ones that just decided to be worse than usual once their season is over.
>>
>>154026469
there can still be a salary cap
