watched a video on baseball about how its gone too deep into the moneyball well. it used to be about finding great undervalued players and winning with them, but they got lost in the sauce and now care more about avoiding risk than actually winning. theyd rather sign mid tier players on 'efficient' contracts than sign older players and win stuff. the chelsea ownership is this to a tee. players arent even human to them just assets, they sign not based on if they think the player is good but 'opportunities in the market' and end up with guys like delap due to this system. they sign 100 assets, then try and sell them for a profit even if it hurts the team. they operate like a small team idk its crazy
