Because MLB rules state that on field uniforms must be made in the USA, they have the only production facility capable of mass producing MLB-grade uniforms. Nike creates the designs and templates, and Fanatics produces jerseys to Nike's specs. That said, for the WBC much of the "official" merchandise is low grade anyway, I don't know that they were selling on-field jerseys or just replicas. And the Japan ones will be replica anyway as Mizuno is the official outfitter for Samurai Japan (only non-Nike client).
I have been collecting baseball uniforms since the early 2000's, and this current MLB/WBC Nike Vapor material feels cheap as hell to me. My buddy had a couple in his shop, I was not impressed...if you compare them to a 90's Russell Diamond collection, the Nike's look and feel like cheap knockoffs.
