Kosovar Albanians are completely different ethnicity that waged a war of independence. Kosovo was the original Serbian region in middle ages, that's where Peć Patriarchate was, like proto-Serbain Orthodox Church. It got moved to Austrian lands once the Ottomans made it hard to sustain it in Town of Peć. Kosovo was a multi-ethnic region historically, it's just that countless Serbs moved away because Kosovo was underdeveloped. They lost the demographic war. There was also a Croatian village in Kosovo called Janjevo, but I think all the Janjevo Croats moved here by now.
