>one of the most non-violent sports>has the most deranged violent fanbaseHow?
it is the most common low denominator sport everyone can play it and everyone can cheer for it and rules are simple enough everyone can understand what happens
>>154083202Ffs couldn't you find literally any other pic to post, now I have a PTSD episode from that cursed match
>>154083202Bump
>>154083202Half the games are boring af
>>154083202that's because people actually support their teams. Popular teams in Europe and South America are older than all sports in USA
>>154088039To yanks' credit, baseball leagues and college sports predate many football clubs in Europe
>>154083273you sound like you're on reddit r/soccer
>>154083202that's a good point actually, pretty funnyfootballers are considered weak here, even the tall ones are skinny and not very intimidating (with some exceptions). but the fans are mental
>>154083202It's not that non-violent. I dare you to visit an average amateur league game. Basketball is less violent, volleyball is less violent, cricket and field hockey are less violent, any non-team sport that isn't martial arts is less violent. I don't know enough about baseball, but it seems less violent as well and is structurally less violent for sureThe thing with football is that it's the most popular sport on the planet and (despite some efforts) very accessible, so you are bound to have some deranged and violent fans just because so many people are involved. When there's a ruckus at a Bundesliga game, the wannabe intellectuals not interested in sports say "oh, look at all these violent football fans" when the amount of people they mean is like 100 in a stadium of 60,000
i think its because they offer the plebs a collective identity which gives them some sort of meaning in lifealso football in europe is the most corrupt sport. literal criminals will buy football clubs just to get thousands of cult members-uh i mean sports fans- to defend their shady shit. like here for example AEK president murdered a journalist, PAOK's is a member of United Russia, Olympiacos's is a smuggler etcnot to mention how clubs can influence elections, like verona in italy being neo nazi, zvezda being communist etc. Politicians use them for easy votes
>>154088039What teams are older than 1868? The first year of professional baseball was '69. None of the teams from that first season still exist, but the Braves, Phillies, and Cubs were all founded and have existed since 1870 or 71. There's like six English clubs that are older than that, but I wouldn't exactly say that Chesterfield or Notts County are all that popular. Even Forest isn't exactly a Liverpool or Real Madrid.
