None of them were nearly as technically gifted and comfortable dropping so deep and following the 2 smaller midfielders in such positions. The only defensive midfielder that I think can be overall better is 2023 Rodri. Still not as press resistant or technical, but close enough unlike Pirlo and Casemiro, and with better shooting, weak foot, destroyer role, pace and strength.
