>>154204148Apart from the plastic clubs of Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg, basically everyone in the Bundesliga has at least 99% attendance rate. Even Leverkusen does well. The biggest crowds are drawn by Bayern, Dortmund, Hamburg, Köln. They easily sell out every game and could have much bigger stadiums. Hamburg for example would certainly need at least 75,000 capacity. In the 2nd tier, many big clubs are waiting. Schalke is a lock when it comes to stadium attendance, but there are many others who are doing fine and would do even better if they finally got a taste of Bundesliga football againThe 3rd tier is where you regularly start seeing empty seats in the stadiums of clubs that are historically used to be more successful and have large stadiums, but the numbers are still very impressive. A few years ago, Alemannia Aachen had an average attendance of 22,000 in the 4th tier (which consists of five regional leagues), playing against village clubs and reserve sides. And as soon as it became clear they were genuinely in for promotion, they approached 30,000 again and again. So yeah, it’s good. Tickets are affordable, fan culture is going strong despite football becoming more and more corpo-washed and lopsided. A shame new stadiums are so fucking expensive now

there has definitely been a movement to grow support for provincial and lower league clubs here since covid. more kids are getting involved in their local teams.
