If Tottenham gets relegted who gets promoted to the english Big6? Everton, Villa or Newcastle?
>>
>>154219081
Big Six was a bullshit term anyway, a fake construction. There is no need to replace anything
But if you had to do it, Villa would be the most logical choice, I think. They are the most regularly seen among the top ranks, even though they are not quite there. Newcastle and Everton are just as shaky (at best) and don't have the same highs - in the last few years
If "Big Six" was a purely historical term, Villa and Everton would have been there from the start. It's just a "commercialization badge" backed up with some stats you can bend your way if necessary
>>
sunderland, actually
>>
>>154219081
Nobody. That is a shitty concept made to increase sales. Tottenham did not do anything that warranted being part of it.

Villa are already bigger than Spurs by miles so. You simply can't be considered big with two league titles.
>>
>>154219081
big 6 never made any sense. it was always the big 4
>>
Wrexham
>>
>>154219081
newcastle if they get rid of eddie howe. this guy is completely inconsistent. champions league, mid table, champions league, mid table.
>>
It's always just been Liverpool, Arsenal and United. They're the only main characters in English football.
>>
>>154219081
It's gone back to the original big four m8, don't worry about the big 6 anymore it's dead.
>>

Everton have won nine league titles. They were founder members of the Football League in 1888 and also the Premier League in 1992. They have spent just four seasons outside of the top-flight in their history, and not played in the second-tier since 1954. By any measure, they should be considered a bigger club than Spurs.

All Spurs have is London bias, which also benefits the embarrassment that is West Ham

Big 5 makes the most sense now that England gets an extra place every year
>>
>>154220235
Spurs were a part of it since the 80s when it was the Big Five, those clubs being the breakaway clubs to found the Premier League (Everton, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd)
This is why Spurs going down is such a big deal to older fans, as Chelsea and City were just also-ran clubs

It was never five or six. The idea of a 'Big Four' was a thing in the early 2000s, Liverpool being the most successful club in England, Chelsea being the rich upstarts, and Arsenal and Man United being the best on the pitch for the most part.

>It was never five or six
It was though and you saying this doesn't magically not true. It's so widely documented that there was a Big Five

You cannot be a 'big' club without winning a European Cup/Champion's League trophy. Therefore, the Big Six are Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Aston Villa.
Not so fast, Arse and Spuds.
>>
>>154225060
They won EL two years ago

Did you drop your reading comprehension on the way to steal my wallet? The Europa League is not the European Champion's Club Cup/Champion's League, my romani friend.
>>
>>154219081
No such thing. It's Manchester's Prememe League and it has always been. It used to be United's, now it's City's. Anything else is cope.

Newcastle have the next highest number of years in the CL, which was the only reason Spurs were ever considered big 6
>>
>>154219081
If we absolutely have to preserve the Big Six, the only club as of late to deserve it is Villa.

The Top Four were the teams that qualified for the Champions League every year, and got so much money from that that their positions were unassailable and the title race was just a battle between them and nobody else got a look in. Football is better now. Those four teams were always the "Top Four", and calling them "Big" was never a thing.

all correct.
>Big Six was a bullshit term anyway, a fake construction. There is no need to replace anything
yes.
it is no coincidence that """big six""" began to appear in sky-approved messaging shortly before florentino tried to launch his failed ESL project. those six clubs attempted to join it.
it literally never made sense.
>but muh financials
financial a way for spurs out of 18th in the table then.

>Big Six was a bullshit term anyway, a fake construction
No. Before the "Big Six" there was the "Top 4", so named because they were the four clubs who got CL football practically every year. Then when Manchester City started winning a new moniker that included them was needed. Since Spurs at the time were finishing in the actual top 4 more regularly than some of the original "Top 4" it was expanded to a "Big Six" to include them too
>>
>>154225810
>who got CL football practically every year
No, not "pracitically", the big four (comprising four specific clubs only) DID get CL football every year for a long stretch in the 00s.
Even with the expanded format there still isn't six CL spots in the Premier League, so even by your own plastic definition you're wrong.
>>
>>154225832
I said practically because Newcastle, Leeds and Everton all had top 4 finishes in that period, so it wasn't literally every year that the entire Top 4 were in CL.
The point is it went from a term based strictly on league finishes to a new one still based on CL qualification but expanded to include the two new teams who were regularly competing for that with the original Top 4.
The idea that it was a fake media construction in which Spuds were only included based on their balance book is just a stick used to beat them, it's not actually true,
>>
>>154219081
For me, the „Big Six“ is the (too) favorable term for the clubs that tried to create the Super League. They should be called „Treacherous Six“ or something. As such, Tottenham will always be a member of this illustrious club because they did what they did. It’s not about how big and successful the club is. It is marketing first and foremost
>>
>>154220071
The only way he gets CL football is when he has to play like 38 games a year by being out of every cup, hes the poor man's Conte.
>>
>>154220873
There quite literally was a big five though and they were so named at the time. They are the reason there's a premier league in the first place.
