Theology is secondary. Evangelical churches just spread quicker than AIDS is poor neighbourhoods. The Catholic Church doesn't have the means nor the bureaucratic flexibility to keep up with their pace in proselytism or in the construction of new churches. These new churches overcome any distrust by serving as community centres and building support networks in very vulnerable areas. It's not uncommon for evangelicals to help each other get jobs and all of that.

And theologically there's also the seductive element of prosperity theology that is very big. If you obey God you'll get a house, a car, your son will become a doctor and you'll live well (that's the reason why your pastor has a private helicopter and drives luxury cars). If you're exceptionally good, God will give you great riches on Earth like king Solomon and king David.
