Which stadiums are great and which ones are shit? Which one is worth the ticket?
>>154242852Define great. I can only speak on the US stadiums, but none of them are going to wow you with their aesthetics from the outside. But inside will be very nice and comparable to club giants in the EU.
>fetlife stadiumdo americans really?
>>154242852Philly, Atlanta, Kansas City would be the easiest to fly into and go to. """Boston"""" will easily be the worst experience possible outside of going to Mexico and getting caught in a narco civil war. 2nd worst will be """Miami""". Can't speak for the others but it will overall be a terrible time for most people coming in.
>>154242852Miamifag here to tell you about the Hard Rock:>located next to the ghetto. Don't wander too far.>public transit? lol, lmao even>designed for the Fins to be in the shade and the rival to get blasted by the sun. Same for the stands.>Copa America final gave us a preview of what the Colombia-Portugal match will be like."The 2024 Copa América final between Argentina and Colombia at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens (July 14, 2024) saw severe security breaches, causing a 90-minute delay, as thousands of ticketless fans rushed gates, climbed walls, and entered through ventilation systems. Argentina won 1-0, but the chaos led to arrests and ticketed fans being kept out."Have fun anons!
Just on the looks I would say Seattle and Toronto are the worse but based on the weather Miami in August is a suicide mission.LA, Dallas and Monterrey would be the only ones notable on my list
>levi's>san franciscoanyway its a shithole, the stick was 10x better. Taking Caltrain and then getting smushed like sardines on the tiny shuttle to the stadium sucked
>>154243464In Miami you at least get a coin flip chance of being in the shady side. Arrowhead will be completely uncovered death from above
>>154243404Surprising amounts of sovl for the US
>>154243502Its not a coin flip, the stadium was literally designed for the away side to be in the sun at 1pm. I was at the Buffalo at Miami game a few years back where Buffalo's players were collapsing on the field after the game and sipping on my $20 Heineken that was boiling in its aluminum can.
Philly is the best for an out of towner>actually in the city not a suburb>connected to downtown by public transportation, subway or bus, still have to walk a HUGE parking lot>in the ghetto but not the worst ghetto and separated from the ghetto by a HUGE parking lot>Philly is not new york but still has good touristy things to do and food markets when not at the game>brazil ecador and African matches so will have good atmosphere >DO NOT GO TO NORTH OR WEST PHILLY
All of the American ones are shit because the stadiums were designed with footbaw not fùtbol in mind
>>154244669Lumen seems nice. It also should be easy to reach and I guess Seattle's likely to have ideal weather conditions for football.
>>154244427If it’s the Butt Safety game you were referring to, I too was there and marveled at seeing the Bills wilting live in front of my eyes.
>>154242852bc place is a fucking shithole. still has circular urinals in it too. stadium is in a really rough neighborhood. common to see people injecting drugs right outside the gates in broad daylight before a whitecaps or bc lions game. really makes you wonder how much somebody got paid to let that dump host a world cup game.

>>154245583I want to see someone accidentally wander to the baseball stadium in one of the cities where they're right next to each other

>>154245771Not only that, but once the naming rights expire (usually 20-25 years), someone else can buy them and the name will changeHouston's baseball stadium was originally Enron Field until Enron went tits up in the biggest accounting scandal in US history; then it became Astros Field until Minute Maid purchased the naming rights. Now it's Daikin Park, a company I'd never heard of until I looked it up to make this post. It's lame as shit and gradually it's seeping into collegiate facilities too

Why the FUCK would you play in Kansas lmao
>>154247673>Why the FUCK would you play in Kansas lmao
>>154242852Haven't a real clue. I'd reckon if you want a "cultural experience" you stick to New York, Philadelphia, or Miami, and I'd bet Miami is the best of the three. Boston or Toronto could be neat, but they're kind of out there. The west coast cities - Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles should be good if you are wealthy enough to have high quality accommodations, and I suspect Seattle and Vancouver would provide the best cultural experience. Kansas City, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta would be the unique experience, offering likely the lowest lows but also the rarer and highest highs. I don't know anything about Mexico.

>>154246240Officially, this happens in football too, but everyone sticks to the real name.
>>154242852Atlanta is pretty cool. right in the centre
>>154242852LA, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta have the best stadiums in the US. Phoenix and Vegas are up there, but they aren't hosts
>>154250044Pretty much all pro stadiums are so new they've had corporate names from the beginning. College is a different story because the old stadiums typically got enlarged but seldom totally replaced, and were usually named after someone important at the university. That makes it a hard sell to fans who can roll their eyes at the stupid names for pro team facilities, but don't want to see even more corporate encroachment in college sports. >>154250106Vegas really missed out there
>>154250089It's also easy to get to from the airport. All trains at the airport go downtown, and from Five Points you can either transfer to the east line or walk to the stadium (you will have to deal with panhandlers). Most people in Atlanta hate their transit system but the connection between downtown and the airport is something that they do well.

The worse one is definitely ours. BMO field in Toronto was designwd to cater to MLS demand which means being a 4th rate team in the city meaning it could only hold 30k people. There solution to make it bigger was to add super ugly temporary bleachers

>>154255521>What happened to CanadaNothing, we just don't have soccer infrastructure here because it's not a sport people care about. Vancouver Whitecaps share a stadium with the CFL team so it's actually decent. The big stadium in Toronto is the Rogers center but the blue Jays play there all summer. The argos for moved to BMO field. So all we have is where Toronto FC plays which was purposely made small since it's meant for an MLS team which means competing for 4th/5th most popular sport's team in the city so it's designed small

>>154255521why do you make it sound like a bad thing that they dont use tax money to build sports stadiums here?
>Select not just one, but three of some of the largest and most geographically spread-out countries on earth to jointly host the tournament>2 of those countries are particularly famous for not even giving a shit about the sport in the first placeSeriously, Euros and all those other soccer playing thirdies, can you explain why FIFA would ever award either the US or Canada WC hosting duties? Of all the 200+ recognized nation states on earth, why would you allow two countries which are not at all enthusiastic about soccer to do the honors? Or is this simply a consequence of the WC bidding process? Didn't the world hate it when the we were the hosts in 1994 since it was overly humid and hot in most stadiums?
>>154261496>can you explain why FIFA would ever award either the US or Canada WC hosting duties?Thirdie here, it was thanks to the FIFAGate scandal that happened in 2015.The FIFA is one of the most corrupt organizations in the world at the point that the FBI had to be involved and take matters into their own hands. They raided their offices and even took some financial assets, it was a true shitshow. And rumors say the conditions for not escalating things was for the director of FIFA (Joseph Blatter) to renounce and to award the US the next available World Cup, which was this one.
>>154242907>>154245771For the World Cup they'll use generic ass names like "Los Angeles Stadium" as it's happened in previous WCs.
>>154262003>generic ass namesThose are the names of the city.
>>154261496Due to the rotation policy UEFA (Russia2018) and AFC (Qatar2022) members were excluded from bidding on 2026. Morocco's bid was also a lot worse than CUM's and they were the "competing" bid. Morocco had failed time and again so the US shouldn't have been afraid of them. Yet they still asked Mexico and Canada to co-host in order to secure more votes.S.Arabia simply had Infantino pave the way for their bid. Didn't go to a vote despite lingering Fifagate and a bunch of bid rules were changed to make it happen. Morocco were slapped on the Iberian bid (likely quid pro quo as Spain are corrupt too) and threw some scraps to 3 S.American FAs (screwing the whole continent out of any bids from 2014 to, at the earliest, 2042).
>>154242852guadalajara is the stadium to visit so you have a good story to tell about being taken hostage by mexican cartels.
>>154261831And now Euros are mad because Trump bad.
>>154261496The last time the World Cup was here, it made tons of money. Even with it being a sport that only a small percentage care about, the population being so large means that small percentage is still a lot of viewers. FIFA also would like for soccer to be more popular in the US and Canada, so a World Cup hosting cycle every three decades isn't all that big of a price to pay to expand the sport into potentially lucrative markets.
>>154255521>Oh man, what happened to Canada?10 years of pedophile Trudeau and 11-million useless unwanted migrants. Canada is dead.
>>154263668>still a lot of viewersDespite USA94's horrible timezone well over half of all TV revenue was generated in Europe. For Brazil in 2014 Europe still accounted for more than 50% of media rights. Of course Europe's share is even bigger whenever it's held in Europe, nothwithstanding crown jewel/free-to-air legislation lowering media rights value in most European markets. CUM will most likely be the first time that Europe generates less than half of all media rights revenue. Europe will still pull in the bulk.Conmebol kinda gets shafted because the Americas have the worst timezone and Fifa would rather hold every World Cup in that timezone in the US. Media rights revenue from Europe will be up again in 30 and 34. Then either have to allow bids from Europe for 38 or go for another moneygrab in the US (or a joint bid with Conmebol nations being handed scraps again). US-UK bid has been floated for 38 but that's unlikely to go ahead.
>>154261496Obama era FBI investigated FIFA for being corrupt retards and part of the settlement was awarding a CUM cup.

>>154270144CUM had more than twice as many votes. The US would have won with a single host bid too. Brazil voted for Morocco thinking the vote was private. They had endorsed the CUM bid in public plus in bed with the US who are hosting Copa America editions to make money for them. A lot of UEFA members voted for the US while Morocco is in a better timezone/better viewership and much cheaper logistically. FAs are claiming they risk going into debt this summer and would need a deeper run to get enough FIFA prize money. Several African members didn't vote for Morocco. Morocco hadn't even pulled that shit in the last afcon back then.
>>154264923Nothing generic or soulless about square stadiums and you have almost certainly never been to a game kek.
>>154271788Africans were half-half on Morocco because some of them backed the US, that's true, but without Mexico, a lot of LATAM could have voted for Morocco because they hated Trump, not even kidding.
>>154273001>could have voted for MoroccoBut most likely wouldn't have. Pretty much all had to defect to halt the US's landslide victory. And USA always had the option to hand out favours, incl. FBI inaction, or use bribes. Adding Mexico and Canada helped cut costs and allowed the US to dump unfancied games on the co-hosts. They already knew a shit-ton of group games were garbage and potential host cities were making promises that they'd struggle to keep (like every bid those promises are broken as soon as money needs to be found). Spreading games over an entire continent might have cost them votes, especially among WC hopefuls that weren't looking forward to all those travel expenses.
