Taiwan is the softpowerer of basball in Oceania along with USA. Taiwan funds the national teams in Samoa, Palau, Kiribati, etc. Japan brought it to them in ww2 but Taiwan keeps it the number one sport.

Baseball is growing in SE Asia thogh. In large part growing interest via Japanese media and just generally it's interesting sport.

BTW philippines used to be a really amazing baseball country then decided to go all-in on basketball (their favorite sport now)... makes 0 sense

its the climate i assume since you cant play footy and beisbol when you get hit with typhoons all year round
at least with basketball and volleyball you can play it indoors or under covered courts
