RIP Vancouver Whitecaps
>>
>american sporting culture
>>
>>154408559
Wait, what's wrong with Vancouver and the franchise?
>>
>>154408834
There's more potential revenue in having a team in Vegas than having one in Vancouver.
>>
>>154408834
Canada's economy has been shit and their stadium is gonna kick them out
>>
>>154408559
>join league by handing over all your rights as an independent club to become a franchise
>league decides to move you
Why should I feel bad again?
>>
>>154408895
It's not MLS forcing them out
The whitecaps are for sale and no one wants to buy them and pay for a new stadium in Vancouver
>>
>>154408919
Are they getting kicked from their current stadium?
>>
>>154408986
Their lease expires this year
>>
>>154408834
they were given a team contingent on building a soccer specific stadium but they never did, and now are the only team in the mls who dont own their own stadium to make it seem like they are a multi billion dollar franchise like all the other mls franchises and the others jews are getting upset. mls has several us cities with goycattles tripping over themselves to pay for some billionaires stadium so playing hardball isnt really an option.
>>
>>154408559
Being North American and having to support movable franchises that are nothing but toys for billionaire owners ... I'm shuddering at the thought of it. You can of course meme on the Bundesliga because of its shitty title race, but at least my club will never be disbanded because some rich guy wants to make cash elsewhere
>>
>>154409092
Where would a team move in Germany? There's usually already another one in town
>>
>>154409092
I’d def take the ladder.
>>
>>154408834
>>154409057
>>154409092
the team is also owned by a group of billionaires including one of the founders of yahoo, so its not like they cant afford to build the team a stadium, they literally just dont want to. they paid $40 mill for this team in 2010, and now its worth close to $500 mill about 15 years later. 10x their money in a decade and are now just using american tax payers as their exit liquidity.
>>
>>154409092
I mean I support college team so not really a problem
>>
>>154409153
They're selling the team
>>
>>154409176
to a city that built a stadium with tax payer money. so you pumped 2 billionaires bags.
>>
>>154409196
Well buy it yourself and build a stadium
>>
>>154409123
We've got a few quite relevant cities whose clubs have been sucking for many years now. A select few were never good in the first place. If we had a franchise system, then some owner would definitely have taken a club that plays second fiddle within their city, like TSV 1860 München or FC St Pauli, or maybe even Viktoria or Fortuna Köln, and moved them to Bonn (19th-biggest city, currently 4th tier), Wuppertal (17th-biggest city, about to get relegated to the 5th tier), Krefeld (33rd, 5th tier), or Heidelberg (54th, literally never had a single relevant club anywhere in the first four tiers or so). Or various East German cities where the traditional GDR clubs got fucked after reunification and are now stuck in the 4th or 5th tier
>>154409142
What would you use it for? Screwing in a lightbulb?
>>
>>154409057
>>154409153
Interesting. Sounds grim. But financially, it makes sense. That just shouldn't dictate such things, though ...
>>154409154
Good!
>>
In another timeline, Vancouver an UBC embraced NCAA football, joined the PAC10, and now is a member of the Big Ten.
>Canadians aren't into university sports
In the other timeline they are. They also don't have several million jeets (the Chinese however are still there).
>>
Canada should have its own league anyway and MLS should be entirely american.

Is it the owners' obligation to keep a team in a city if no one is willing to pay for it?
>>
>>154409321
Given the level of support: yes.
>>
>>154409404
Is it Wal-Mart's obligation to keep a store in a city if no one is willing to pay for a building?
>>
>>154409428
No which is why they close
>>
>>154409452
My club barely stays in the league. And we will celebrate if that happens. Have fun with your totally heterosexual fat niggers in spandex colliding, and with the Jew owners rigging everything and moving your precious consumer activities like chess pieces, paypiggie
>>
>>154408834
No one cares
>>
>>154409552
by that logic, every single MLS franchise has to disband
>>
>>154409491
there is no point in trying with these brainwashed types who think paying for some billionaires stadium is something to brag about.
>>
>>154409579
It's not my tax money lol
>>
Rather buy lower division English teams
>>
>>154409675
Wrexham was worth only $2.5 million when he bought them
The Whitecaps are probably gonna sell for $500 million and he doesn't have that kind of cash

>>154409552
The team is actually one of the best teams in the league and is drawing rather well as a result. Nobody wants to see this happen. It is short-sighed IMO of these owners to do this considering in a few years, the franchise could be worth north of a billion USD.
>>
>>154411524
Yes but they could make more and build a stadium for less in Vegas
>>
>>154409552
Muller is German, he can't understand them
>>
>>154411524
I bet it ends up like the columbus/austin thing with the precourts where they keep the team. MLS isn't a passion that has been in people's families for fifty years so it helps to kind of wave the bloody shirt with this stuff. Vancouver is stupid rich, I'm sure they can find a basically evil chinese guy

I hope all these teams moving to Vegas crash and burn lmao
>>
>>154409397
The Canadian government?
>>
Las Vegas is supposed to be a host city when the World Cup returns to the US in 2038. It'll need an MLS team by then. FIFA want to extract more cash and New Zealand + Fiji have offered to host a group. Maybe Hawai can host but need a 40K seater stadium. Mostly West Coast venues. Pacific 2038 bid. Or wait until 2042 to get Australia and Japan to join the bid.
>>
>>154408834
there's a demographic shift towards people who like cricket more than football
>>
>>154414022
Not quite. But even still who exactly are the soccer loving demographic of Canada ? Or the soccer loving immigrants for here ?
>>
>>154408834
The owner wants to sell and literally nobody in Vancouver is stepping up to offer
>>
>>154408559
Fewer leefjeets in any sport is a good thing
>>
>>154409397
Initially, Trudeau. Though Carney is really accelerating its decline.
>>
>>154414852
True it's better to put the sport in the country that's being ethnically replaced by Mexicans who actually enjoy it
>>
>>154408559
The Las Vegas Browncaps
>>
>>154413437
Who's gonna buy the team?
It's not like the Columbus thing where the current owner wants to move them
The current ownership has been looking for a buyer and none of them can keep them in Vancouver
>>
>>154409045
they can't extend it or they don't want to?
>>
The group that is buying the club should be forced to play in the same city
>>

>>154409552

>>
>>154416567
The club itself should have this prerogative desu.
Just like some companies only sell 49% of their stocks so they can still make decisions.
>>
>>154409092
I mean this kind of happened with RB Leipzig. They bought a club from Markranstädt, renamed it and moved it to Leipzig. Not across the country though.

The US is a huge market. Soccer doesn't need to be on the level of the NFL or even the NHL to still have a robust league with good fanbases. Crying because not everyone in the country sees them as sports gods is rather pathetic. We're getting a new stadium here in Detroit for our USL team but it's never going to be on the same level as the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, or Wolverines. That's fine. The games are still fun and are their own thing. It doesn't have to be something everyone enjoys for me to enjoy it.

>movable franchises
>no pro/rel
>conferences and playoffs
>league-promoted faggotry in the stands

We don't have "local clubs" here. Taxpayers don't want to spend 20+ years paying for a stadium? Fuck you, we're moving.

Well Fuck MLS and Fuck their franchises.
>>
>>154417482
Once a cartel sets up shop, you're not going back. Americans looked down on pro sports when it was better and leagues had to cartel up to survive
>>
>>154409560
They should, yes. Nothing would be lost.
>>
>>154409404
These insanely jewish club evaluations are a huge part of the problem. How the fuck are Vancouver Whitecaps worth ((($500 million))) when they don't even own their own stadium infrastructure? And who the hell is going to pay $500m for an MLS shitter just to spend that amount on a newer smaller stadium and the land near a Skytrain station to serve it?

Definitely. Don't forget, only the goys pay usury ;^)

they are also exempt from paying property taxes too as part of the "sweetheart" deal. taxes for the goym, but not for them. and the goym in this thread aggressively defend this scam.

Ive been in Vancouver with the whitecaps playing and it was nice, but I guess nice things aren’t allowed in North America anymore. Vancouver is a great city ruined by all the drug addicts roaming the streets, chinks owning all the real estate, and jeets coming in to shit up the place. Vegas is objectively a soulless city in comparison, but it’s all about the $.
>>
>>154421158
My question is why the fuck is someone paying $500m for something no one cares about that has no assets?
>>
>>154419716
>San Diego Canucks

>>

>>
>>154408559
nice name, how often were they associated with whitecapping?
>>
>>154421158
>They are worth $500 million because someone is willing to buy it for $500 million
No, (((they))) and the league just throw out their own evaluation and demand others to pay them what they want. There is nothing tangible backing that evaluation. If they put an open bid for prospective buyers they might get $40m-$50m if they are lucky. You could buy a middling EFL Championship club for that price that has a large established fanbase, their own stadium, and training ground included.
>>
>>154417452
But Bill Clinton isn't in the WH anymore.
>>
>>154422883

>>
>>154408834

>>
>>154408834
tl;dr they make absolutely no money and the owners want out. The only people that want to buy the team don't want to keep it in Vancouver.
