>this entire season of our league could be declared null and void because dogshit team in the relegation spot threw a temper tantrum because they lost 6-0 but the opponent had one (1) player who swapped his Dutch passport mid-season to play for SEA monkeys, but that's a no-no because some lawyer on a sport podcast jokingly said so, despite said dogshit team doing the same years ago and saying nothing about it.

I wish it was just as simple as "team fields ineligible player". But no. To make it simple:
>Go Ahead plays against NAC Breda last March, thrashing them 6-0
>some lawyer drunkenly talks about the fact many Eredivisie players who swapped their passport for Surinamese and Indonesian ones to play for their national teams, are actually playing illegally because Dutch law requires non-EU football players to be paid a salary of a minimum of 500k a year, to protect the national youth prospects and prevent the clubs from just importing foreign players en masse and most of the clubs don't have it in order
>NAC learns of this and demands from the KNVB that the match be replayed; KNVB tells NAC to fuck off; NAC takes it to court, the entire Eredivisie is mad because this could have disastrous ramifications for the entire league
>dozens of players who swapped their Dutch passports for non-Dutch are currently put in non-active because their teams also don't wanna immediately pay dozens of players 500k a month, while not wanting to risk the same problem Go Ahead is facing if they field them
>NAC's director tells the other Eredivisie directors that this will only count for NAC's current case, but then they should all pretend the other and future instances don't exist; the directors tell him to fuck off and chew him out on voice call
>KNVB is clearly incredibly insecure about lawsuits after the amount of Ls it received whenever things go to arbitration (failed to revoke Twente's license, failed to revoke Vitesse's license)
>KNVB's director is legit afraid of the future ramifications of this case on the Eredivisie if NAC wins the lawsuit.
>it is also revealed that NAC themselves 2 years ago fielded a player who swapped his Dutch passport mid-season but never reported it.

In honesty, I don't know what's more pathetic:
>NAC trying to undo a 6-0 loss through a court case as if they still wouldn't get trashed by the Eagles or relegate whatsoever?
>The KNVB exposing once again their own incompetence and not understanding their own rules and potentially losing another arbitration case for the 3rd time in a row?
>The other clubs not keeping check of this themselves or clearly trying to avoid paying 2-5 players each 500k a year extra?
>Or the Dutch government KNOWING various of the players revoked their Dutch citizenship, but not telling this to the KNVB?

i read this whole thread but
>this entire season of our league could be declared null and void
i looked it up and didn't see any reference to this being a possible possibility.

Sounds like a farmer's league problem.

Honestly, good. About time there were some ramifications for players shopping around for international teams.

Seems like the simple solution is to rewrite the law to include an exception for eu born players who graduate from Dutch academies. Yeah, they've got a different passport today, but five years ago they were the prospects you were trying to protect anyway. When the intent is to prevent teams from buying 19 year old Brazilians every window, telling a Dutch born, Dutch academy graduate that he has to leave his club to represent another country seems backward.
