Offensive football, or defensive football?

Cruyff, Sacchi, Guardiola, Enrique and Flick?

Or Herrera, Trapattoni, Mourinho, Allegri and Simeone?

Which side are you on?

Was thinking of the shortened serie A season but Verona scored more than that, meanwhile you have Milan with 31 goals in 30 games

1-0 you were in control, and took advantage of a opportunity you had.
5-4 was a shit show that could go either way.

1-0 is the patrician and objectively right way to approach a game

weren't you guys winning 7-3 in the glory days ?
I wish I was there.

patrician means gay but liked by snobs.
Patricians don't watch the matches - they own the teams.

3-2 is the most extreme a scoreline can get without being an indicator of shit football. Even then, most 3-2 games are the product of poor defending and multiple capital mistakes.

The idea of a 5-4 is romantic but it's impossible to reach that score without the two teams fucking up badly.

it's actually been discussed in several football forums all over the internet after the game

partially true

the point is that in the last 10 years coaches have been prioritizing athleticism over technical ability, it's probably a plot created by the heads of fifa and uefa to have more fast-paced and high scoring games that can appeal to thirdies and burgers.
the result is that now a football games is 22 blacks tirelessly running up and down the pitch with little technical ability, enough tho to score many goals against defenders who cant defend anymore and midfielders who let everything pass thru.
this and var ruined the beautiful game

This. Italy is all about tacticism, defense, and technicak ability. Basically the opposite of what globohomo is pushing on world football

>against defenders who cant defend anymore
They are discouraged to defend because even touching a enemy player on your own area nowadays is Always punished with a penalty, no matter the circumstance.
So they have to rely instead on the offside rule, than can be easily fucked up and its harder to use against spacey negroes with explosive suddenly accellerations

I have a less conspiratorial hypothesis about the rise of atheticism in football. First thing is that Europeans (most notoriously the Germans) have always preferred a more physical form of football. All the way back in 1968, Brazil's Gerson had already famously stated that "Eles [os europeus] correm o tempo todo, mas isso não é futebol. Dizem que o Brasil tem que jogar à europeia para ganhar dos europeus. Eu não acho. Eles jogam assim porque não têm outro jeito. Como na técnica não podem ganhar da gente, então apelam para o preparo físico e para a correria. Quando atacam, atacam com todo mundo, e quando defendem, todo mundo defende. Pra correr com eles não dá."
My impression is that in a post-Bosman and globalised football it simply became easier for clubs to find the greatest pace merchants available and establish what has been the meta of football in the more recent years: intense pressing and quick counters. It isn't pretty and it isn't interesting, but this kind of football can be extremely effective and oppressive against slower paced sides, so the first teams to adopt paceshittery create a strong pressure on the competition to also build squads centred around athleticism to have a chance.

The example of paceshittery that infuriates me the most is Vini. He's the blandest, most boring winger Brazil has ever produced but you can't deny that he serves Madrid well. They want a guy who runs faster than the defenders, and that's exactly what he does. And the lack of flair or technique doesn't really matter when he receives a through ball and can just run faster than everyone else. He'll score and win Real Madrid the game. If you want to do something about it, better look for pacey defenders. And it keeps going on and on.

History proves attacking teams have more longevity but i prefer 1-0

The Brazillian Football philosophy is absolutely beautiful, but it can't work sadly because it's easier to dope a meat tank than find that special feet AND brain talent which due to statistics can even lose easily.
>>

That graph is reductive.

Turns out playing as a team with overall tactics works better than lumping a bunch of technically gifted players together and hoping for the best.
