Probox edition to lure in the oldfags
Great May 2nd fight day. Eating good.
>EL MOOOOOOONNNNNNNZZZZZQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDD
>>154492190It was a good day. Few stinkers and disappointed outcomes, but many exciting, important results and boxing all day. Very good day today.
Alright I'm going to sleep. Fuck you Japan for not catering to the American audience
>>154492193>A battle of jabs and pot shots, with Bivol letting 2 or 3 go when he knows Benavidez cant fire back. True. This is what happened with Canelo too. Even on the ropes Bivol beat Canelo to the punch. Bivol got a way to discourage fighters down the stretch. I still think Benavidez hand speed will be difficult to handle and his sheer volume of combinations could be a problem.
Video in the sister thread is suggesting an elbow fucked Zurdo's eye up. That probably broke his shit
Schedule:>May 9th DAZN PPVFabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois>May 9th DAZNRa'eese Aleem vs. Angelo Leo>May 16th DAZNKeyshawn Davis vs. Nahir Albright>May 23rd DAZN PPVOleksandr Usyk vs. Rico VerhoevenFrank Sanchez vs. Richard TorrezHamzah Sheeraz vs. Alem BegicJack Catterall vs. Shakhram Giyasov
>>154492193>Bivol will make you pay for movement like that. Also this is what separates the elites, they capitalize on every error. Shakur took apart Teofimo by capitalizing on every mistake that Teo's other opponents didn't do, minus Loma second half.>He’s not gonna get into these reckless exchanges. This is the real problem for Bivol. He had to take more risk than necessary against Beterbiev in the second fight. There weren't enough openings to capitalize on, Bivol had to be more reckless, and he got clipped during some of the exchanges. I don't know if Benavidez will be so much more open than Beterbiev because his volume punching and speed could give Bivol pause.
>>154492248Ouch. Though his eye was already fucked from the hundred punches he took before that.
>>154492276May already off to a phenomenal start, with a compelling fight each week following. I feel like the sport has been in a slump for months but finally some fucking good food.I just wish greedy belly Usyk wasnt fighting a nobody but I also cant blame him for wanting an easy paycheck after bringing down Fury + Dubois twice in a row back to back.Frank Sanchez vs Torrez, I like that fight. It’s another good measuring stick to see where Torrez is at as the smaller heavyweight prospect. Sanchez has mostly lost his boogieman status but he can still be dangerous. Catteral vs Gigasoi also sounds interesting.Keyshawn annoys me at this point going from humble Olympian to another entitled, bratty “diva” attitude with him and his brother acting like low impulse thugs. If he loses, I will be okay with that.Wardley vs Dubois will be a brawl, somebody is definitely knocked out in what is likely to be a very entertaining heavybrit scrap
>>154494673Usyk should have gone the inoue route and just took a short break. This fight is a waste of people's time and moneyPraying Keyshawn gets whooped by his step dad, Albright, but it's unlikely. Fuck that loser for making this fight, and fuck that loser for calling out Benn every chance he gets. Shakira and his sisters are a bunch of jokers
Ive seen people call for Benavides Usyk. Stop it.
>>154492304>NtaI think rewatching Bivol vs Arthur will give us an idea of how Bivol vs David will go. I thought he won the early rounds in their first fight, but lost the rounds later rounds he was inactive in. He had to be more aggressive the 2nd time around to win by decision, and I hope he doesn't need to do that against David.I hope it's as easy for him as his fight against Canelo, but then again, he won all 12 rounds and it was still a "close fight"
All I'm saying is... David's campaign post 168 was a walk through the cherry forest... And he had a basket to collect....
>>154492244To be fair, canelo degraded rapidly after Plant, but your point stands
Spence is really trying to get into Tim's head. Disrespectful from the jump, copying his dad's rat tail. He's already trying to setup the Bud-Spence stare down but in his favor
Canelo allegedly left before Benavidez finished off Zurdo because he was only there for Munguia. I don't want care to see Canelo Benavidez honestly, don't want Canelo to get smashed. Benavidez doesn't need Canelo anymore, there are more exciting matchups
>>154505034>there are more exciting matchupsThere are. We're asking for a cruiser to fight a supermiddle weight. People only want this fight because it's been teased to use. It's like playing keep away from a dog. We should be campaigning for David to become undisputed at 200 or 175, or maybe even trying out HW
Listen, I don't wanna be that guy... But why is it ok when David weight bullies, but it's egregious when Haney weight bullies? And now we want David to abuse his weight somemore against Canelo?
>>154505699Weight bullying is cringe when you just hug and clinch. At least blast the other guy out of there.
>>154505344Benavidez vs Canelo now feels like bullying. Benavidez should skip it. Going to HW sounds crazy but if he pulls it off it will be historic.
>>154505897I don't even think David really wants it, it's just something you can keep bringing it. How is he going to drop from cruiser to super middle when he was struggling to make 168 in the first place? Then he calls for it at 175? There is literally no way in hell Canelo would ever take that fight. I wish reporters would stop bringing it up. Wouldn't mind him at HW though. He's got the height, but they may eat his punches up for breakfast. Seriously
As a Benavides hater, I think it's my job to pose this question: was Gvozdyk, Yarde, or Zurdo ever going to give David trouble? Morell maybe could have if he spent more time as a professional. Zurdo was a sparring partner David knew extensively. Yarde is... Yarde. And I've never heard of Oleksandr prior to him fighting David (not to mention he just got ktfo in February)
If Wardley doesn't btfo Dubois, he's a turbo super bum
>>154508513Wardley was getting spanked by Huni and losing to Parker before he landed his big shot. If the Dubois who smashed Hrgovic shows up I won't be surprised at all if Wardley loses
>>154509018I honestly don't know Wardley at all. I missed those fights, sadly, but he comes off as a guy who's at his best during a low intelligence brawl. I don't think Dubois has the skills to outbox him. I expect him to quit like he did against Joyce and Usyk and Usyk. At least I hope he does, because I don't want to see him flop around like a fucking faggot for the 3rd time against Usyk. If I have to see that low IQ dark chocolate milk dud waste my time again, I'm actually going to do something dangerous
>>154509096>he comes off as a guy who's at his best during a low intelligence brawlThat's where Wardley is at his best, but also Dubois too. Dubois quits anytime he feels slightly mentally defeated. I don't think Wardley will make him feel that. He'll have to knock out Dubois.
Stephen Edwards brought up something interesting: fighter of the decade. I wonder who will be the face of the 2020s when it's all said and done. So far, I'm leaning towards Usyk. Inoue at 2nd
>>154507766Just because Zurdo is not an ATG doesn't make Benavidez's victory any less impressive. We can extend the same line of thought to when Bud dismantled Canelo when Canelo was beyond shot, or Shakur 12-0 Teofimo. Styles make fights, and Zurdo's style happened to be perfect for a Benavidez offensive showcase just like Canelo was for Bud/Bivol and Teo for Shakur.
>>154510145I'll be honest, I believe Bud was so dead set on fighting Canelo because he knew he was "low hanging fruit" at 168. He knew he had the skills to make up for the weight discrepancy, which is a little different than David vs Zurdo because David probably belongs at 175, 200. I wish he'd fight Jai. Even though Jai is mostly untested, we know he has power and can mostly do anything. If he beats Jai like that, I'll give him some flowers
>>154511933I get what you mean though. I'm not going to give as much flowers to Benavidez for battering Zurdo like I'd give Usyk for beating Fury or Bivol for beating Beterbiev. But sometimes I feel as hardcore fans we set too high of a standard, so that only 50/50 fights with two p4p greats at their primes are immune to criticism. That's very rare now. There are almost always considerations from smart camps to get an edge for those defining fights. E.g. Bivol aging Beterbiev. I miss the days where Pac used to just jump up weights like a maniac, pick monsters, and run through them despite being on paper a big underdog. Or when four kings fought each other. Or during golden era of heavyweights.
>>154512648I can appreciate the strategy that goes in before the first bell, but as fan, I wish fighters would actually go up the hill backwards. Luckily, Shakur vs Teo and David vs Zurdo opens up actual 50/50 fights. At least on paper. Dumbass Jai is probably regretting his zuffa decision by now
>>154504319>The fuck Timmy gon’ do? We be smokin’ on dat bu— ACK!
>>154513043I really want spence to win, but there's no way
Both Inoues scored a fractured orbital bone in their rights. Along side Zurdo's presumed fracture, it's been a whole day of fractures
