Alex Zanardi Dead at 59 No.154494481
Alex Zanardi, former F1 driver and Paralympic champion, has died at 59 in Padua, Italy. Lost both legs in a 2001 CART crash, came back and won Paralympic gold medals in handcycling. Had another serious accident in 2020 when he hit a truck during a charity handbike relay.
Was in long-term care near Padua. Died suddenly on May 1. Family says they don't even know the exact cause.
Funeral Tuesday at the Basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua.
