Why does /sp/ love scummy soulless astroturfed cheating Arab oil clubs but hate good honest historical grassroots blue collar soul clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool?
As much as I want to hate them, PSG play good entertaining football whereas arsenal is even more cancerous than atletico
>>154623503The comparison isn't quite fair. Man City are the better part of a century older than PSG. Man City won their first European trophy four months before PSG were even founded. Also, even before the oil money, PSG are an amalgam of multiple clubs whose merging was pushed by the French government in order to create a 'capital club' akin to Real Madrid. Since then, they have always been favoured and especially so over the last few decades. French domestic football has been sacrificed on the Parisian altar, in the belief that this improves the image of French football internationally. In fairness, midwits everywhere do seem to have fallen for it and Ligue Un - whose teams have won as many European honours as Scottish ones have - now has defenders globally, rushing onto Twitter and Reddit and /sp/ to insist it has always been of the same stature as La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League.
>>154623634I remember PSG being complete dogshit for decades until the Qataris bought them. It's like they are the real life Pimp My Ride of soccer clubs
>>154623654> I remember PSG being complete dogshit for decades until the Qataris bought themNo you don't
>>154623503You're literally posting on a sports board, people actually know about the teams you're mentioning. This is not good bait.
>>154623634> they have always been favoured and especially so over the last few decadesHow?> French domestic football has been sacrificed on the Parisian altarHow so?> Ligue Un [...] now has defenders globally, rushing onto Twitter and Reddit and /sp/ to insist it has always been of the same stature as La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League.Show proof
>>154623690It was revealed to me in a dream
>>154623503>soul clubs like Arsenal
>good honest historical grassroots blue collar soul clubs like Arsenal and LiverpoolLol, that ship has long, long sailed Anon. These clubs are just entertainment brands for the global marketplace now.
>>154623671PSG was the laughing stock of Ligue 1 in the 2000s
>>154623671then why were they never successful? Lyon won the league 7 years in a row. Marseille won it countless times
>nooo your billionaire owner is of the wrong type!!!! this makes me so angry reeeee
>>154623503Arsenal is a direct threat to football as a sport. I'd take a dozen arab oil clubs over another Arsenal.
>>154623738Never successful? Only French club with Marseille with an European trophy, held the record of Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue trophies, all of this before qatar. The league is not the only thing that matters and PSG was always a cup team anyway.
>>154623503Because nearly everyone who uses this site comes from an oil producing desert shithole
>>154623503people just don’t really care about PSG and Man City. yes there’s an intellectual argument like FPP oil money blah blah blah but it’s not emotional like the hatred of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United, Real Madrid, Barça, etc which goes back generations.
>>154623792see >>154623735
>oil teamsNo fans.>historical clubsAnnoying fans.
>>154623503aresenal and liverpool are american instead of arab and equally astrofturfed. arsenal are an african immigrant club now and even though on 4chan you are just interacting with sad white arsenal fans, they can't deny it is an african immigrant club.liverpool are just losers still crying about the squashocaust.
>>154623634>midwits everywhere do seem to have fallen for itfootball watchers don't care about the histroy fo the club. PSG had some glamourous players and so got international fans because they wanted to watch them.
>Arsenal and Liverpool>good honest historical grassroots blue collar soul clubsahahahahahahahahaha>>154624165>squashocaust10/10
>>154623503Scousers are scum of the Earth and have caused the deaths of over 100 innocent people. Arsenal have the arrogance of Madrid and the history of Brentford.
>>154623503>Livepool>good and honestthey've murdered 135 fans, a current world record.even your most psychotic South American clubs are nowhere near this figure
arsenal is fully owned by some american billionaire, pretending it's great while being owned by an arab billionaire is bad is a really weird form of virtue signallingboth psg and mancity have quite likable squads at this point and play watchable football, nobody really cares if the next superyacht will sail under usa or uae flag>but muh historypeople outside of england will never be able to relate to this, as long as the club is older than me it's something that has always been around, it's not like the psg popped up two weeks ago for some red bull campaign
I like how everything people complain about on this board always comes down to a single thing: the fact that you guys are insecure chuds> WAAA WAA that player is black> WAAA WAA that European NT has non whites> WAAA WAA that club is owned by arabs instead of jewsLmao chuds are really living in hell
>>154623503I prefer Arsenal and Liverpool over these two, but I cannot pretend they are squeaky clean either since both are now soulless corpo properties sucking global bandwagoner dick. The difference is that PSG was founded to be exactly that in the first place, almost 100 years after the other two. City are a middle ground, as they sold out before and harder than Liverpool and Arsenal, but were the most modest club among them before. But what difference does it make now?Arsenal and Liverpool bandwagoners are all the more annoying for defending all their arrogance and shamelessness with club history from 120 years ago, ignoring the dynamics that made them become fans themselves. So watching them fail is funny and feels deserved. Watching PSG fail can also be funny, but not as funny in this regard
Why should I get mad at some bedouin prince for finding oil in his desert? When you think about it, it's a very goofy and innoffensive way to get rich. If some guy who won the lottery decided to invest in a football club, you'd call it soulful and noble. Meanwhile all "soulful" EPL clubs ahve been bought by actual scammers, greek mafiosi, chinese betting companies or american usurers
>>154623503PSG has history thoughbeit
they have a logo of arabian airlines slapped on their kits, even their stadium is named after it, there goes the soul
Every single globally relevant club is soulless if you apply such standards. They're all owned by corporations/billionaires, usually foreign ones. They all cater to a global audience of casual consumers over their domestic fanbase, because that's just not enough. You can call Liverpool and the like better than PSG because they are older and grew into the current system as time passed. But you can also say PSG are more honest than Liverpool in this regard because they always tried being a marketing luxury tool. Also, look at how Liverpool got founded - there's business in there alreadyThe best you can get among global powerhouses are Real and Bayern, clubs who are 50+1. They still chase a global audience and sell themselves for the highest bidder (Real is the worse offender here since they attract even more bandwagoners and have a strategically relevant pool of 600 million Latinos or so to farm from), but at least they are organically owned for the most partIf you want to apply these strict standards of soulfulness, the biggest clubs you can find are probably (using German clubs only here since I can say more about them) Hamburg, >Schalke, or Köln. These clubs still have a global footprint due to sponsors, but only a small one. And they basically have zero bandwagoner fans because they went through too much shit for that. And even here, you can still moan about stuff if you really wantI still kind of prefer Liverpool to PSG because Liverpool has more history and had more soul a long time ago, but this is just make believe for the most part
>>154624485> even their stadium is named after itlolwut
>>154624506Arsenal play at the Emirates Stadium. I think that's what he means
>>154623503isn't arsenal's ground literally called emirates stadium?
>>154624502Liverpool were founded in 1892 and had won seven league titles before PSG were even founded.
Can an Anglo explain this to me: if old English clubs are so soul and blue collar, why are their fans such customers?Every single time PSG (or any other team with a decent following) plays in England their fans are louder than the locals for the entire game. Imagine like 1000 people being louder than a full 60k+ stadium it's ridiculous. And of course it doesn't happen anywhere else in Europe because for example German fans would never let this happen.
>>154624629Did I deny that? I think I made it abundantly clear that Liverpool have much more history. But I said to look at how they got created. Didn't they get founded by a businessman after Everton left the ground he owned, so he founded a club to keep the ground occupied? Doesn't sound super romantic either if you want to paint Liverpool as the super-romantic soulful grassroots blue collar club. I assume OP was being highly ironic here. Of course, you have to ignore Liverpool's ownership structure for that. PSG were then founded for business reason in 1970, a much more elaborate scheme in a much more elaborate football world. As I said, it's okay to prefer one over the other because they are older and less obvious. But the gap in real business standards isn't large by any means
>>154624774Anglos will know better than me, but I think parts of the answer may be>different stadium cultureEnglish fans generally seem to have an aversion towards this ultra culture of making noise no matter what to dominate a stadium. Watch a Bundesliga game (that isn't in Wolfsburg or Hoffenheim perhaps) and you'll see everyone sing as dictated by the ultras in their stand. They make the noise and the rest follows. In England, crowds are usually more silent, but they react to the game more and will sometimes come up with spontaneous chants. Numerous English fans I've talked to have voiced their bewilderment over the constant noise in German stadiums>high ticket pricesEnglish clubs charge considerably higher ticket prices, I believe. I've been told there are a few Englishmen taking weekend trips to Bundesliga games because the entire trip costs them as much as PL tickets. Although that seems hard to believe. So a lot of the diehard fans may stay out or can't afford to attend every game>global appeal to tourismThe Premier League is by far the most marketed league on the planet, most clubs have tons of foreign bandwagoners and also attract even less invested tourists. Especially the relevant London clubs and the Manchester/Liverpool area attract tons of tourists, and these will usually be rather silent since they may not care that much at the end of the day and/or be more focused on taking pics/vids and/or not have that much of a clue what's going on
>>154624774>>154624868ILLSBREH had a huge part to play because it led to the Taylor Report. That report mandated that all clubs in the top two divisions of English football had to have all-seater stadia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Report
>>154623503I just dislike liverpool because most of their players have historically been annoying pissy cunts, at least for the past 2 decades. same as halal and farcaPSG is fine by me after getting rid of the turtle
QSG is a deeply disgusting club, it's not even close to what the Emiratis did with Man City
>>154623897Real Madrid is simply the OG PSG.
They don't have annoying fans because they don't have fans so it's easy to support them against teams with annoying fans.No one actually loves them or really cares about them though.
>>154623503I hate both, I only support franchises
>>154624512>>154624628In 20 years it'll be CostBet Field at Homely Stadium
>>154623503/sp/ is mostly JF plastics that's why. Majority of actual sports fans are too busy living their lives and attending local matches to shitpost on here.
>>154623503probably because oil dictatorship funded clubs piss oldheads ''roots'' blue collar clubs like arsenal and liverpool because they were more traditional than small shits like milwall and west ham therefore their fans had massive egos.
>>154623503I care about play style and vibes. Arsenal have horrible vibes and horrible style.
>>154623503I just hate clubs with delusional entitled fanbases. This includes ManU, Liverpool and Arsenal
>>154625497I agree with this, but I would never go so far as to call myself a "fan" of any of these clubs
>>154624868The only Englishman I know who has been to a Bundesliga game did so because he was born on a British base in Germany, and has an affection for Borussia Dortmund.

>>154625241its also a question of who you want to lose more, PSG or Arsenal in the CL? Arsenal to lose. Arse v City in the Premier? Again, an easy choice, Arsenal to lose.tldr, Arsenal are a shower of inveterate wankers who cannot be allowed to win. And whoever actually does instead, remains the lesser evil.
>>154625241this, they only have customers. If they somehow lose, the customer base will switch to anther winning team. Arsenal at least have fans going back to the invincible era so its easy to tick them off.
MAN CITY FOREVERhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCz6ow4OcZ8
>>154624774The anglo double-standards is beyond human understanding>Real or PSG fans outside of Spain or FranceGlory hounds who only like one or two big star players and just want to support a winning team (this does not apply at all to Arsenal bandwagoners from the Wenger era or ManU fans from the Ferguson era)>loud ultras and hostile crowdsViolent idiots who don't even care and just want a fight when they should be singing the same sort of songs english crowds sing during games, nothingelse counts as a crowd chant (ignore the entire hooligan movement)>hard tackleLow-level defenders just being physical because they can't play (when that happens in the prem, it's proof that the league is the most physical in the world and far above the rest)
Why can't Everton reach the mountain peak? I'm sad.
arteta looks like a massive douche like nagelsman desu
>>154623503City always had soul players thoughAguero, David Silva, Kompany, Vieira, Tevez, Barry, Bruyne, Yaya Toure, Zabaleta, Baloteli
