Nobody seems to give a shit about that. Nobody is hyped for it. Why?
>>
>>154625462
shit teams playing in a shit country
>>
Genuinely keep forgetting about this. It shouldn't be held in countries that don't care about the sport.
>>
Messi already completed football. Nobody else matters
>>
>>154625517
Dumbass, if the host actually cares then they won't rig it for Pessi and we can't have that.
>>
>>154625462
Here in America soccer is something you play only as a kid and that is only because you get a caprisun and fruit snacks at the end of the game otherwise wouldn't even play that gay shit
>>
>>154625462
Because it's $150 to get to the stadium by train with the only alternative being paying a shit ton of money for an arab to user you.

Making cities unwalkable is against the spirit of athletic competition. USA shouldn't be hosting.
>>
>>154625539
Instead you play no respawn irl hide n seek from primary school to uni which is totally a hetero sport
>>
>>154625462
>three hosts
>48 team expansion, inferior format
>super astroturfed, FIFA doesn't even try to hide that they only want to suck customers dry off their money
They didn't even attempt to create authentic hype. This is especially disastrous since the US and Canada are not genuine football nations
>>
>>154625517
>>154625549
Germany hosted the last Euros. On paper, it should've been an ideal tournament but was a forgettable bore. On the other hand, Qatar was kino despite everything indicating it should be shit. It's too early to tell, it could turn out to be a great World Cup.
>>
>>154625566
>Qatar was kino
was it? to me it was unremarkable
>>
>>154625539
>Here in big fat fatty mutt jew land fart fart fart
>>
It is a CRIME that USA has hosted twice while England has only hosted ONCE.

The birthplace of football. A place that Pele called the Holy turf. Yeah, no. That place can't host again. They said mean things about FIFA. Nevermind that they have the most dominant league in the world. Nevermind that they have dozens of elite stadiums. Nevermind that transport is affordable and cities are walkable.

NEVERMIND. GIVE IT TO SAUDI ARABIA.
>>
>>154625566
There's a difference between game quality and atmosphere. Qatar was soulless garbage in many ways and that country should have never hosted - but the tournament was organized well and the games were entertaining (partially because most players didn't have a full season in their bones yet, in my opinion at least)
>>
Dead on arrival.

>Too many countries
>Too many hosts
>Insanely expensive
>America fatigue
>FIFA obviously a corrupt organisation
>No truly likeable/prime star players
>Most Western teams are now just amalgamation of natives + pacey interchangeable Africans
>Football in rapid decline past decade anyhow
>Last truly great WC was 2014, outside of people's recent memory
>>
>>154625462
no idea, is this the official logo? how comes I see it for the first time now
LA28 olympics will be in two years and I have already seen the logo for million times and it's not like I've actively searched for it
all the news I've heard about the world cup so far were all negative
>>
>>154625578
the only thing on gianni infantino's mind is money. football is an entertainment business nothing more
>>
>>154625566
Germany was a great host. It was pure football with none of the dramatic advertiser friendly bullshit.

This is not specifically revealing about FIFA and England in modern times. FIFA does not treat England differently than the rest of Europe nowadays, they hate UEFA in general and want to break its dominance (hence the expansion, which will help Infantino get another term btw since African and Asian nations love it, and things like the Club World Cup) while chasing corruption cash in the US, Arabia, China, India, and so on. In the future, all of UEFA will merely be a sideshow in FIFA's global dream of profit
England did have a special fucked relationship with FIFA decades ago, but that was both sides' fault. England could have by all means hosted the World Cup twice or maybe even thrice. But now, FIFA just looks down on all of UEFA in general because people there already like the sport (which means you cannot make much more money) and because there aren't as many corrupt business schemes to exploit
>>
>>154625587
It might be just money to that bald fuck but to us, football is a way of life. We love the game. We have billions to spend too so you just know that greedy fuck is raking in a fortune.
>>
>>154625578
The next valid time England could host is 2042. By which time the country will have at least TWO 100k seater stadiums.
>>
>>154625578
Last time you hosted you rigged it, I don't think ou can be trusted
>>
>>154625616
THIS. The anglo cannot be trusted, they'd organize it and they'd do everything in their power to keep it home. Unironically the only way It'll ever come home KEK
>>
>>154625615
The new one in Manchester (which has to get built first after all, didn't they already have a few hickups?) and which other one? Arsenal?
England probably have a fairly good chance to host again at some point since the Premier League is so international that all the PL club owners from around the world can rally and convince FIFA to see it as a gift to their international appeal and profit interests
>>
>>154625574
It had its moments:

>Saudi Arabia beating Argentina
>Japan's group stage
>Croatia cucking Brazil
>Bobo
>TSU looking all weird and botoxy when he went off crying
>arguably greatest final of any WC

>>154625579
I'm more talking about game quality, which does play a part in international hype, even for fans not traveling. Not that I was there, but the compact size of Qatar looked like it would've been good for atmosphere, with only real drawback being no booze.

Germany is perfect size to host an event with a bunch of suitable cities all well connected, and the country has the culture for it. On paper, it should be good but the football itself was forgettable in 2024. CUM is too spaced out and only really Mexico has a proper football culture.

>>154625596
The matches themselves were forgettable. Euro 2021 had way more memorable moments.
>>
>Reduce the number of teams again
>Limit the hosting to one country
>Geographical limitations for venues.

No one's gonna watch Uzbekistan - Curacao etc. No one's gonna fucking fly from Winnipeg to Mexico City, that's like half-way around the world. It's like Sweden - Turmenistan co-hosting.
>>
>>154625616
Explain how it was rigged. NO, not liking the winner isn't a valid reason.
>>
>>154625462
There's a good chance it could be canceled due to the Hantavirus outbreak in the US.
>>
>>154625638
>The matches themselves were forgettable. Euro 2021 had way more memorable moments.
Not the hosts fault if teams played shit. Spain vs Germany was kino. Spain cheated btw.
>>
>>154625462
I will only care if Trump pressures the refs to rig it for the US, that would be kino entertainment. Has to be be blatant though, like 2002 Korea
>>
Football is getting more and more soulless in general. It is too successful and profitable for its own good, such things always get ruined eventually. FIFA is corrupt as fuck and basically put up a very overt profit-only tournament at the worst time possible. 48 teams in 12 groups with a round of 32? That's a shit format and the number of teams is too high to generate the traditional hype. Three large hosts, two of which are not really football-loving? The main one being the US at a time when everyone is either fearful of or pissed at them? All these super obvious grifts and rip-offs spoil the mood as well. No one is even trying to hide it. Also, this is the third questionable World Cup in a row - people have learned by now
At the same time, the sport is becoming more and more data-focused, many stars are reproducible systembabies straight from academies with little to no individuality. Everything is becoming more and more uniform, including the line-up of national teams themselves
>>
>>154625462
somehow infantino is more corrupt than the guy that got impeached for corruption
>>
>>154625638
To add a couple more:
>Morocco beating Spain and Portugal
>Group H last match day with the Uruguay vs Ghana revenge match and the chimp out
>>
>>154625462
Football has no legitimacy anymore, players the last few decades diving and cheating then screaming at the refs looking for penalties plus they rig a vote so it gets hosted in the biggest terrorist state of the world.
>>
>>154625697
Not kino. Qatar gave massive advantage to international teams that had black skin.
>>
>world cup centenario won't take place in uruguay
why. seriously. I'm fed up with FIFA
>>
>>154625694
He makes Blatter look like a total saint, like the nice grandpa from next door. Funnily enough, Blatter being corrupt got more media coverage (here at least) than Infantino being 10x worse
>>
>>154625539
Gramps, this isn’t the 1990s anymore. You voted for a guy who not only isn’t doing shit to kick out the soccer loving illegals in this country, BUT Trump’s son favorite team in all sports is a fucking soccer team from London who is about to win the English League and Champions League (wonder if Trump pulled strings there).
>>
>>154625734
Uruguay alone would have been impossible. But yeah, Uruguay and Argentina together? That would have been it. Instead, FIFA openly fucked and sacrificed the 100-year-anniversary to clear the path for Saudi-fucking-Arabia in 2034
>>
Same post every WC/EC... we are still in the local leagues... International hype starts after the CL final. Teams dont even have a starting list yet.

Because we’re fielding the same aging squad from the last World Cup there’s literally a group in Brazil that won’t let the new players take the field.

Based kino match. Gianni take all my money.
>>
>>154625566
what? I'm completely biased but I think it wasn't boring at all. The Spain-Germany match was incredible football, even if they continue parroting that we cheated (it was offside before Cucu's hand, they will continue to ignore this). Anyways the match was kino and very close.
The France Spain was also a game we had to overcome was we started losing, with a golazo by el morito. and the Final was less close but had the Olmo saving a goal on the line and the Oryarzabal goal in the last minutes.
The England side of the tournament was garbage, I agree.
Anyways, I prefer a thousand times a cup held in Germany, and I'm also picking the WC in 2006 where we did awful and were humilliated. But it was probably the best World Cup I have seen. Third world countries or dictatorships or contries that don't care about football should not host

>>
>>154626244

>>
>>154629237
On the pics I've seen, it is unclear whether it was offside or not, especially regarding the timing. Close call, and I haven't seen these official fancy measurement thingies. You pretending it definitely was offside seems at least as disingenuous as people pointing out that it was a handball, because that one is more obvious. That being said, I actually think you can make a claim that it wasn't a handball. That's what UEFA based the decision on back then, and I can see their idea. The frustrating part is the lack of consistency across competitions. But yes, we were/are particularly bitter because we had to face the best opponent in the quarterfinals already and lost this cointoss of a game in such dramatic fashion. Especially since we are well aware that we won't win shit for many years to come, so this would have been it. We expect to get humiliated for many years to come after having seen nothing but shit since 2018. This was the one tournament >we played well in, and it was a home tournament. Who would not be bitter about this? And you are not making it any better by warming it up yourself now. If you want >us to put it to rest, you have to do that as well. I'm sure 95% of people here have calmed down by now, though some will maintain this was a penalty regardless. That's football, and so it is also football that we lost. Cherish both sides or cherish none. I hope that is understandable
>>

>>
>>154629512
Yes, you make very good points. I was not trying to troll you specifically about Cucurella's handball, this is the internet after all and I have seen that "robbery" thrown around so much that I get worked up as well.
I understand the frustration and the UEFA antics and explanations are complete bullshit. See Atletico's penalty against Madrid last year, or Bayern disallowed goal against Madrid in 2023, or...
If Füllkrug was offside, I would like to think that they would have released their classic robots to prove it (which I assume they can cook as well). No explanation whatsoever though... I have been on the other side with my team (Las Palmas, not Madrid or Barsa or whatever) and I can see that you'd be upset. As I, as a spaniard, I'd try to justify it with the possible offside. It is a handball, though.
Well anyways, talking about humilliations, brother, lmao. I have seen Spain only once in my lifetime do well in the WC, all the other were complete failures. And if I was 40 years older I'd be in the same place. So I don't know about Germany being shit for the whole future.
>>
>>154629681
Thanks, pal. That's all very reasonable, you are right.
You will see in a few weeks how shit >we truly are. I am not looking forward to it. And neither is virtually everybody else. Personally, I don't see a silver lining either. But that only goes as far as the generation of currently emerging players, of course. It begins with the managing, of course. I think Nagelsmann is a retard, but maybe he proves me wrong and limits the damage to a Ro16 exit against France, I can't expect more. You on the other hand have apparently done great work in recent years, Spain should be reckoned with for a while at least. It's true that Spanish teams were underachieving hard in the past
I just don't see any identity in the German team. I'd be frustrated more if the DFB hadn't alienated everyone after getting high on their own farts in 2014. On top of that, FIFA just seems to try to ruin the appeal of World Cups in general. As of now, I can at least look at my club with some degree of pride again, so I will limit my complaints
I see Las Palmas narrowly missed out on promotion. Sounds like a comfy club and location, though. Stadium seems neat as well. I suppose you are from Gran Canaria? And are you more optimistic for next season?

the negative value is certainly worrisome, but these charts are a bit misleading. Jan 2023 was still benefitting from post-pandemic behavior change.

>Why?
We already know that stadiums will be half empty, and most visitors will be Americans who don't really care. The atmosphere will be shit.
We already know that Trump wants to abuse the whole event to promote himself like he did with the "club world cup". No one wants to see that.
We already know that the amount of teams has been massively increased, with some real shitters partaking. Quality of play will drop massively.
We already know that most matches will take place in massive heat that apparently requires pausing the game every 15 minutes. Again, this means play quality will suffer. It also means we can expect a player or two collapsing on the field, and probably a lot more medical emergencies among the live audience (as little of it there is).
We also already know that ICE, a supposed immigration control unit and in practice a band of rogue thugs, will be in charge of security. Making this the least secure event for visitors and tourists in recent history. Considering that the regime is also in an actice war with at least one other (participating) country and with its own people, chances are higher than usual that something will go wrong - the regime might even desire that outcome.

Japan and Sweden might be competitive. But it's very likely that three teams advance, and number four is fucking Tunisia, anon.
>>
>>154638357
I don't understand people portraying you as title contenders, but the group stage? That should be doable for sure. You've got a relatively balanced group with no total fodder, but beating Tunisia and getting one more point would suffice for third place, which would take you to the KO stage in this new garbage format
You will be fine
>>
Yeah I'm really excited to watch Haiti playing Scotland
>>
>>154625462
Imagine what could have been ... they could have kept the 32 team format - it was perfect.
They could have given 2022 to Australia, 2026 to the US alone, 2030 to Argentina and Uruguay, and 2034 to basically any relevant UEFA nation. Maybe 2018 could have been England's already, but I think Russia hosting was tolerable
>>
This anti-hype shit failed miserably for the fucking qatar cup, you think itll work now?
>>
>>154638448
>2026 to the US alone
That'd be even worse than it is now. At least Mexicans care about the sport.
>>
>>154638468
Yeah, but I was trying to be a bit realistic at least. Triple hosting is gay as fuck, and FIFA is after the US only. The others are only there to please their megalomania
Mexico being the first country to host three World Cups (or 2.3) kind of doesn't feel right to me either. I don't mind the US in general hosting, it's just a fairly shitty time for that because of what's going on in the US while FIFA is greedier and more evil than ever as well
>>
>>154636410
of course
>>
Our team is shit with poolisic being the best player which shows you how shit it is but it's okay since Trump will pay off the refs and VAR enough that we will make it far.

Maybe if America wasn't so geographically large and the only way to realistically get around across the country was by airplane. Qatar and Russia had an interest in at least making it nice for the outside world. America isn't even hiding the fact that they want to jew you at literally every turn.

New WC patches are up.
>The source claims that teams that have never lifted the trophy will wear standard black-and-white variants, while former world champions will receive exclusive gold-themed badges. The reported design structure includes four different combinations. Nations wearing light-colored kits without a World Cup title would use a black background with a white logo, while teams in darker kits would wear a white patch with black branding.
>Meanwhile, countries with World Cup titles would receive a more prestigious version. Champions wearing lighter kits would use a gold patch with white details, while champions in darker shirts would receive a white patch featuring gold branding.
>>
>>154641131
Pretty easy. They just need to have their users report on when they feel like chanting, and if enough of them do, they send out an alert to everyone else to join.

FIFA would never consider skipping Europe for 16 years. Media rights are the main source of revenue and Europe alone generates more than half of it even when World Cups were held in lousy timezones. For 2026 FIFA are prepared to take a bath, incl. shit deals in India and China. They're making up for it by shaking down match-going fans. The big markets in Europe still got decent viewing hours but players will be playing in the heat of the day, if there's any. Russia, Qatar, Spain&co, S.Arabia all cater to European audiences. Won't get 3 editions in a row in awful timezones. Germany intend to bid for the 2038-42 ones. Likely the US will get to host again and the other will be in Europe.
>>
>>154646504

literally every world cup everyone (/sp/) predicts is going to be shit. they were doom mongering about the cup last in brazil and that was the most kino of the modern era. this will be fine and if there's one thing the US can do right it's organize massive expensive time wasting events.
>>
>>154646674
>if there's one thing the US can do right it's organize massive expensive time wasting events.
It's already a loss for your tourism industry. Pretty much shows that you can't do it right.
>>
>>154646674
Brazil was underwhelming, Russia wasn’t interesting, Qatar was alright.
None of that matters now, people do not want to travel to the US and the tickets are a rip off and this whole situation with Iran still having to play in the US despite the President saying their safety isn’t guaranteed is deeply troubling and affecting the sensibilities of the common sportsman
>>
wake me after the group stage is over
>>
For me it is 3 things:

- the new format. It was already impossible to have 32 decent NTs. 48 will be a shitshow.

- the hosts. Not only it is terrible to have 3 hosts, but two of them don't care about the sport. USA would rather watch: a spreadsheet of random numbers simulator (baseball), a competition where the opponent team never defends (NBA) and 3 hours of ads and 15 minutes of action (handegg) than Footy. Canada is a country whose whole identity revolves around reacting to what the US is doing.

- lack of "generational" players. I grew up with Ronaldo (R9), then Ronaldinho and soon after him there was Messi. There is no one who can succeed them right now.
