Now they had to risk all of that in a single game that not only randomizes things but also rewards late-season shape only. Anything can happen in a single game, especially if both teams already have had 50 games or so in total and are therefore fatigued towards the season's end. But across an entire season, it's usually the stronger team that ends up third.
