Anyone still saying Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time is fucking delusional. Jordan was the greatest of HIS time but they were all playing slow sorry ass ball back then and he was just one of the few who would actually fire up on those plumbers and bums who'd be standing in front of him trying to catch their breath while he shoots past them. Today's game would make Jordan's head spin compared to what he was used to. Lamelo would blow prime Jordan's ankles off and Steph Curry would have Jordan shitting his pants trying to figure out how to stop him from hitting half court 3's while being guarded by three people.
>>154642898I remember saying something extremely similar in the /nba/ general once, and got met with full-on seethe. The fact of the matter is Jordan couldn’t keep up with the current pace of play and would struggle to put the clamps on any of today’s guards, especially Melo. But you can’t say that on here because the Jordan dickriders of this board are insufferable.
>>154643069Honestly I've never really been into the NBA but lately I've been seeing clips of what today's game looks like and I'm blown away by what these guys are doing. I was wondering if I was wrong about thinking the NBA was boring when I was growing up but then I saw some clips from the 90s/early 2000s and it's not even fucking close. I don't have any nostalgia for 90s basketball, nor do I even have any recency bias for today's basketball, it's just plainly obvious when looking at clips of guys today vs guys back then that it's not even close, it's practically an entirely different game at this point. Idk why basketball fans in particular have this issue with accepting the reality that today's players are way more advanced than they were 20+ years ago. Everyone loves Tony Hawk and he'll always be Mr. Skateboard himself, but nobody in their right mind would pretend that Tony Hawk would even hold a candle to the average korean 8 year old on a skateboard today. You can appreciate a legend in a sport and still acknowledge that the sport itself has progressed beyond what that person was capable of back in their day.

>>154643280and there it is
>>154643280Jordan would get smoked on the court by today's players. Put Doncic on the court in 96 and he'd be MVP easily.
>>154642898Stephen Curry is the GOAT
Retarded take. He would be better today because he would have all the modern sports science and massages and shit they use. Plus better sneakers and he wouldn't be smoking cigars after games.
>>154650178Jordan would avg 50 in the modern NBA
>>154643622Those Bulls teams had the best 3 point shooter of all time coming off the bench to shoot 2 a game. You don't get to swap eras and pretend one guy would be immune to the eras mentality. They'd have him doing goober shit and averaging 12 pts a game then
>>154650178MJ would obviously be Anthony Edwards in today’s game
>>154642898Without having a horse in this race: the greatest ever does not mean the best ever. It is in the context of that era. If Jordan were born now, do you really think he would look average or worse in the modern NBA had he received the elite training and profited from the better nutrition, medicine, gear? How about the other way round? Would the average NBA player of today be the same if he had been born 50 years ago and played in the NBA 30 years ago? Of course the sport is developing (people like Jordan made it grow, enabling his successors to profit) in some form, but eras are different and so are players‘ career trajectories. Players don’t get inherently more talented. Just appreciate what you have. Of course, people will always be somewhat nostalgic about the era they grew up withIn the end, we are talking about a team sport anyway. No need to glaze individual players across different eras, different positions, and so on
>>154650178>>154651448>Hypothetical copingWe're talking about what these people ACTUALLY DID.>Hurr, if things were different then things would be differentJordan in his prime couldn't touch the super stars we have now, he is not the greatest to ever play, he has been surpassed. Jordanfags just can't accept reality, for whatever reason.
>>154642898Irrelevant because Wemby will be the undisputable GOAT when it's all said and done. After all, basketball is a sport that was born severely stiff by its inherent dimensions, so much, that natural born physicality is still and will always be king.
